$15.00 minimum wage
by hoser inwhile we are talking about economic stimulus i thought i’d bring up the $15 minimum wage.
pros and cons?.

Simon has a good point about regional economies that a national minimum wage could cause serious damage to the economy.
If a factory in small town Georgia is paying $12.00 per hour to its skilled workers producing widgets for the export market is forced to up the wages by 20% the market might not bear the price increase. The factory might have to close.
I was actually in a situation like this a few years back where our labour costs outpaced the development of technology to reduce the labour needs. The company folded as our international buyers purchased from other countries who could produce for less cost.

I googled it. Triannual. But you would think no. 1 would be out by now. There goes my college equivalent course. I will have to "read" a public WT from curiosity
It’s definitely cheaper than paying that expensive tuition for a fancy degree plus if you have a fireplace or an outhouse it’s a bonus.

U.S. Announcement at CLAM w/o March 3 - Donation of Trailers Needed
by JWTom inat our clam meeting this past week there was a rather lengthy announcement asking for the donation of travel trailers.
needed to be at least 22 feet long and not older than a 2005 model year.
lots of other details were in the announcement about what was desired related condition of the trailer, etc.

I think if there is a minimum wage it would have to be high enough to encourage participation in the work force. There is no point in paying stimulus or employment insurance that is higher than minimum wage. The economy needs to keep people working to function properly.

Do JW women expect LESS from their man than Non-jw women?
by pistolpete innon-jw women usually expect their man to have some type of social status.
whether it's education, money, fame, etc.. these days, feminism also plays a role in a future, marriage.
(the man is not the head, maybe the women is the head).

I have to say I really lucked out when I found my wife. Many women expect more from their man than he has the ability to give. They want him to be an elder( takes a lot of time), earn decent money(takes a lot of time) and complain that their man doesn’t spend enough time with them. There are only so many resources to go around. That’s why I’m glad I grabbed my woman before anyone else did. She is content, and doesn’t need social status in the congregation. That makes life a lot easier for the both of us. -

May JW Broaadcast - so bad, "it's not even wrong"
by FFGhost indon't know how many of y'all still watch it.. this month's topic is "the king of the north" - cook goes into monotonous detail over the jw interpretation about rome, germany, ussr, russia, etc.. leaving aside for other commentators the emotionally manipulative videos of jws in russian holding cells, the tearjerker interviews, the god-awful stiffness of cook (i suspect he has never genuinely smiled, much less laughed, in his 60+ years), just thought i'd comment on one topic.. the centerpiece of the program is a "morning worship" monologue from splane.
let's again just leave to the side the dude's pomposity, smugness, and inflated sense of his own genius, and think about this part of his monologue.. he was tracing the history of the "king of the north" and talked about how "britain" (not england, not the united kingdom, not great britain, but "britain" - no idea why they have that fixation - anyway...) became the kotn in the 19th century.. paraphrasing his comments: "britain would not have become kotn if france had its way.
france was much wealthier and more powerful, but at the battle of waterloo, britain defeated france.
