  Has anyone still in or otherwise heard anything about JWs think we only have 12 months before Armageddon?

  i’ve noticed a change in family attitude recently, like there is just something extra on their mind.

  i even had to call my brother to check if he was dying and too scared to tell me.

  anyway, i saw a video last night my saying jws think we only have 12 months left before armageddon so thought maybe this is the reason for changes attitude.

  In 1975 one guy cashed in his life insurance and took a nice vacation only to die in 1976 and leave his wife destitute.

  Another sold everything he owned bought an rv and lived in it with his family. He had a worse fate. He became an apostate!

  watching in on my wife's zoom meeting last night, there was an item about discipline is love.

  they played a 'caleb' animated cartoon and then the instructions were 'if possible, ask selected young children' several questions.. it seems however, that there are no children in my wife's current congregation so the questions were all answered by retired brothers and sisters.

  the congregation mainly consists of elderly people (like us) and the few of childbearing age seem not interested in having children.

  In North America it’s a boomer religion. Many of their kids left or are in to keep the parents happy.

  Do You Know Of Anyone That Has Seen A Therapist Because Of Being A Witness?

  i really don’t know of many people who got into therapy because of their jw dealings but i would think that if someone remains depressed or severely affected by their past witness life, it’s not a bad idea to speak to someone to get you on the right path.

  i think this site has been very therapeutic for many over the years..

  I know a jw counselor that makes the jws he counsels sign a paper that if they were reveal they sinned he would report to the elders.

  I don’t think that is even legal. The guy is a pompous asshole anyway. His kids can’t even stand him.

  i found this experience on reddit today.

  disfellowshipping never really bothered me.

  i always thought it was just another way of getting rid of members that weren't welcome anymore.. but i've changed my mind.

  It sounds like a worldly family took this kid in and he married their daughter and had a successful life. The jw parents missed out in the end. I know an older couple probably dead now that shunned all 3 of their disfellowshipped kids. They got old and the congregation wouldn’t take care of them. I’m not sure where they ended up.

  A buddy of mine did while he was a jw. Going to the psychologist helped him leave the religion. He’s still a bit messed up but thats the result of being raised jw.

  I believe in patent and copyright law. People need to get paid for their work that we all benefit from. If you like listening to free music learn to write songs, play an instrument and pay $$$ for someone to record it or invest even more $$$ in a studio and enjoy your “free” music.

  The watchtower isn’t going after this for the money at least not directly. They give this shit away for nothing. However, if jws hear this song before the convention it takes away from the anticipation and they will be less inclined to donate $$$. So it really is all about the money.

  Cognitive Dissonance. Any oppressed person, group, or race are supposed to fail. When they succeed despite being put down it infuriates the general population. Same reason people hate hutterites in the farming community. They choose to be different and they are extremely successful in their endeavours.
