15 years ago there were 5 congregations now there is only one and it is still struggling. Congregations closing their doors doesn’t mean business is good. It looks like this last one to fold had no young witnesses, they either left the religion or moved. Some publishers drive over an hour to the meeting.

Ecclesiastes 12:12,13
by Lost in the fog inwhenever you think of your time in the organisation you'll remember all of the books.
every year at a convention, new books brought out.
shelves at home groaning under the weight of multicoloured covered wts books!

I remember calling on this lady in service that told me they were really poor in the 1950’s and jws would come around driving a Cadillac selling books. She didn’t want them but her husband would buy and they really couldn’t afford the jw literature. 40 years later she was still very bitter about jws. She mentioned the name of the jws that were preaching with the caddy. I knew the family. Loud show offs in the congregation. Well connected multi generational jws.

question for those who either aux pioneered pioneered
by enoughisenough inhow many of you would have spent the hours "pioneering" if it weren't for the pats on the back and being looked up to as someone special in the congregation?
i will admit that back in late 1970's i attempted to aux pioneer during a campaign because it was promoted and seemed the right thing to do,but i didn't get the hours and it was stressful trying to...and i didn't feel like a cheerful giver.
i never attempted it again.

Auxiliary pioneering and ministerial servant. The most depressing years of my life.

Stupid WT Q's : Is It Wise or Safe to Keep a Dog? Demons—How Can We Resist Them?
by Sea Breeze inyes, that is an actual question in the awake magazine.
jw kids lives are already miserable enough trying to obey all the ignorant rules of the wt.. no sports, no school dance, no holidays.... just field service.
as if that isn't enough.... let's take away their puppy dogs too!.

Dogs eat dog food. They need to visit the vet. They need about an hour a day to walk that you could be recruiting new members. You could donate that dog food money and your ice cream money to the governing body whiskey fund.

It is the same as when a new circuit overseer comes to town. Whoever gets to talk to him first influences the entire three year term.

refusing to go in service with someone
by enoughisenough indid you ever refuse to go in service with someone?
i did.... i went to the kh to meet for service and 3 brothers were there.
i told the brother taking the lead, that when he made up the car groups to take note i had a plan of my own -the 3 brothers could go together and i would do my own thing.

When I was more in “the truth” I knew of certain people that were not allowed to be put in the same car group by the person making the arrangements.
In both instances they were sisters that were not supposed to go with young pioneer brothers
I was told not to assign 35 year old married sister with pioneer brother 25 year old. Then the elder said to me don’t put her with any unmarried brothers
The other time I overheard not to put 45 year old horny pioneer sister with 30 year old mts brother. They had a thing going it was common knowledge but swept under the rug as they were both circuit stars

Is This New?
by Lost in the fog init is a very long time since i was an elder and the elders textbooks have changed multiple times since then.
going back to when i was an elder, to the best of my knowledge the only way a spouse could divorce from his/her partner was porneia, if that person had sexual relations with a man, woman, child, or beast.
but it had to be proven and that's the dubious 2 witness rule.. in fact, if it was not proven and the innocent party divorced and married someone else, then they could be hauled up in front of a judicial committee and be charged with committing adultery and disfellowshipped!

The more I look into it “brazen conduct” is a catch all to disfellowship.
It is much like a charge of mischief under the criminal code when they can’t charge you with anything else.

In the governing bodies deluded minds sex only happens at night and if you spend the entire night at someone’s house.
If the man went into her house at 10pm, banged his secretary, left at 11pm and drove to the airport to go on his trip fornication didn’t happen, but if his flight was cancelled and he crashed on her couch and went to the airport in the morning they had sex.

11/2022 WT, not-so-encouraging experiences
by neat blue dog inhere's some 'spiritual gems' from the latest wt, 11/22.
first up, a bethelite who was kicked out, er, "reassigned":.
"she was reassigned to the field after serving at bethel for more than 23 years.
-
hoser
The second experience affirms what I have suspected for decades.
They know they are going to close the congregation and sell the hall but they are so dishonest that they won’t tell the publishers until AFTER the renovations are bought and paid for by the local brothers.

Did becoming a JW influence you to give up something you enjoyed ?
by smiddy3 inwhen i was a teenager a younger fellow workmate was involved in the sport of judo.i got interested and went along to a number of sessions and took to it like a sponge to water ,and as a sport i was happy participating in.. not that much longer another workmate was getting re-activated in the religion of jw`s.
which i had never heard o before and then got interested in that .. conflict : was judo a sport that was compatible with j.w beliefs?
sadly i decided it was not and stopped any further involvement.. to this day i resent that decision i made back then .and i`m 82 years old now.. it was a sport i was comfortable doing and i enjoyed it.and i gave it up because of the religion .who knows what i may have achieved had i continued with it.
