To this day some in my family deny that the watchtower ever said anything about 1975 being the end. Others sold their houses and pioneered in a motor home until the money ran out and they were disgruntled and left “the truth”, but they just a an unthankful attitude and didn’t appreciate Jehovahs loving provisions.

Recent Annual Meeting - Asking for Clarification
by truth_b_known inwould someone in the know please clarify for me some alleged comments given from the governing body at the recent/yet to be streamed for the rank and file annual meeting?.
it is my understanding that samuel herd basically tells the rank and file that old light is new light and the new light of july, 2013 is now old light.
to be specific, herd states that the official stance on whether or not the annointed remaining on earth, to include the governing body, will all be in heaven prior to armageddon.. at this same annual meeting tony morris iii tells those in attendance that stephen letts' statement that "we're living in the final part of the last days, undoubtedly the final part of the final part of the last days!

I have come to the conclusion that a lot of JWs don't care if the end is near.
by mickbobcat ini was in the cult for years about 40. fourth gen born in cult member or for me ex cult member.
i have seen so many cult members who don't seem to really care if the end is near or not.
they are much more concerned with the idea that this is their social network and they need and or want it just the way it is.

LongHairGal:
Some jws just don’t get it. There are some non jws that just don’t get it either to be fair. Somebody actually has to do the WORK.
One jw elder in our congregation was all upset that he lost his job. He went on and on about how his boss this and that. In reality it probably was his co workers that wanted him gone. In a workplace high performers eventually tire of subsidizing dead weight. This elder expected his regular vacation PLUS time off for conventions and his elder indoctrination schools. I’m fairly confident that one or more of his co workers were quite pissed at picking up the slack when this elder was away for “spiritual” reasons. He called it persecution. I call it entitlement.
I’ve been in those situations before as a subsidizer of workplace slackers. I’ve quit more than one job because I just got plain worn down doing other peoples work for them for no extra pay. Guaranteed one or more of his co workers quit or were going to quit so the boss took care of the root problem. By the way this elder recently sold his house to “simplify”.

Watchtower Study on 5th December.
by Lost in the fog inthe wt study for this week is all about disfellowshipping.
in an early paragraph it said "think how heartbroken jehovah must have been when members of his own angelic family turned their back on him!".
however when you think about it, when this happened according to the wt teaching, jehovah still engaged with satan in the heavens (book of job) and had conversations with him about what was going on in the earth.. so why do the wt org practice shunning when jehovah god obviously didn't?.

This article was just another part of the mind fu*k that keep jws in the cult. Yes, we care when our policies break up your family. It is sad to watch brothers and sisters comment about their loved ones who they fear will die at Jehovahs hand. This messes people up more and gets them in front of a jc. It’s like a circle.

This is a picture of a man leaving his family. Happy JW marriages are a facade.
I’ve seen too many good men walk away because the wife, parents and in laws put way too much pressure on to “progress” in the organization. It is not about the young family, it is about their status in the organization.
One of my good friends left his wife. It was that or suicide, unfortunately. He was a good provider for the family, regular attender at the meetings and regular in the field ministry but it was never good enough for her or her parents. The pressure and nagging from his wife drove him over the edge. All of her family were elders, pioneers and she was unhappy that she wasn’t an elders wife. The irony was that her parents were supported partly by their wealthy non jw parents and the inheritance that they received. They couldn’t understand why my friend couldn’t both provide a materially comfortable life and the social status of being an elder. His parents weren’t well off.
The last time I talked with him he said he was finally happy. I really should look him up when I’m in his area. He is the bad guy where I live but when you’re looking down the barrel of a gun you have some tough life choices to make.

It costs a lot of money to preach the word. In my location, if you sold a paid off house to pioneer you would run out of money within 5 years. Better pray for the end. This is what I’ve learned from others. Don’t quit your day job too early in life. -

Child pornography should NOT be automatically handled by a judicial committee
by pistolpete innew information added to the "shepherd the flock elder's book" .
they have updated their policy on viewing child pornography.. from a congregation standpoint it is not viewed as child sex abuse and is something that should not be automatically handled by a judicial committee.
it states that a person viewing child pornography should be strongly counseled.

Not everyone in this group lives in the US. I would think other countries have their own laws.

TRICKY WORDS and why not to use them
by Terry intricky words .
perfectly good words go unused in writing and speaking.
their meaning isn't clear and the eye is 'tricked' by similarity to other words or sounds.. .

I remember when Steven Lett gave an illustration and messed up the expresso espresso thing. It seems that Jehovah isn’t a very good proof reader when it comes to governing body talks.

When the authorities start throwing governing body members in jail they will cry persecution.

True believers are trading momentary accolades for future security. I have family members that have privileges in the congregation that take up a lot of their time. They go to the international conventions and the special tours to other countries that those in their jw social caste are expected to. In reality they are kinda broke. They earn decent money but have not accumulated much for wealth and as you get older you can’t work the crazy hours you did when you were young. Mrs Hoser and myself are doing ok even though we squandered a lot of our youth on jw activities.
Do these relatives actually believe it’s the truth or are they stuck in a jw social stratification prison? Even if they think it’s all bullshit it would be hard to break away as they have based all of their business, friendships and personal relationships around Jehovah’s witnesses.
