Did becoming a JW influence you to give up something you enjoyed ?
by smiddy3 inwhen i was a teenager a younger fellow workmate was involved in the sport of judo.i got interested and went along to a number of sessions and took to it like a sponge to water ,and as a sport i was happy participating in.. not that much longer another workmate was getting re-activated in the religion of jw`s.
which i had never heard o before and then got interested in that .. conflict : was judo a sport that was compatible with j.w beliefs?
sadly i decided it was not and stopped any further involvement.. to this day i resent that decision i made back then .and i`m 82 years old now.. it was a sport i was comfortable doing and i enjoyed it.and i gave it up because of the religion .who knows what i may have achieved had i continued with it.

New Store called Best Life Gifts
by Franklin30 ini noticed a recent post where it was suggested the store was taken over by hostile means!.
the person who posted it pretended to have knowledge of why the store changed names but clearly was operating with an agenda!
one filled with lies, misinformation and deceit!.

I wonder if Thomas Matos and Nanci Matos will face a judicial hearing as they were basically convicted in civil court of fraud?
Or will they cry persecution because they were sued by an ex jw?

People in general have a short attention span and are lazy. Videos take little effort to watch and get the viewers emotionally invested.
They are a great way to keep witnesses attending.

Will the faithful slave now allow birthdays..........
by BoogerMan in.....or ban jw sisters from using mascara??????
"the bible never refers to a servant of god celebrating a birthday.
this is not simply an oversight, for it does record two birthday celebrations by those not serving god.

Allowing a day for a person to be pampered might just let them have a bit of self esteem.
It’s harder to control people who feel good about themselves.

I doubt if they will ever allow birthday or Christmas celebrations. The reason is that disallowing these keeps cult members from spending time with “worldly” people thus lowering the risk of members slowing in cult recruitment or exiting the religion completely.
Mascara and make up serves a useful purpose as well. It is used as a tool to criticize sisters who use too much, too little or a non approved color. This acts as a way to destabilize women in the congregation and doubt their own judgement in these matters, thus making them dependant on the leaders.

Bring on the YOUNG elders
by enoughisenough inthere seems to be a push to fast track the younger men to become elders.
beings jesus was 30 when he took up his ministry, i would think that would sort of be an age gauge...the older men were to have their children in subjection, so some were old enough to have children that were old enough to want to rebel.
( that's my slant ) how will the ones who have been jw for years respond to being counseled by those younger than some of their grandchildren?

Elders and ministerial servants are less likely to leave the truth. Appoint them young. On the flip side young, inexperienced elders have the ability to wake up others.

making out like a bandit
by enoughisenough inhere is a practice i only recently learned about and am actually interested in learning more details...some of you may have experience on the subject.
i always thought it marvelous, loving, and kind how the brothers would go in ( at their own expense) after disasters and repair homes of the witnesses who had been adversely effected.
i personally have worked freely helping to clean and repair after flooding.

The same thing happens when you rent a room from a hotel on the approved lodging list. Watchtower is getting kickbacks.

Money donated for a specific reason
by enoughisenough ini decided to do this posting because of some comments in the post about pensions.
in the mid to late 1980's there was a flood and the local kingom hall was damaged and many of the friends homes were damaged...groups came in to help repair.
my then mother-in-law literally lost everything-she had no home to repair...she had been renting a small trailer and it washed away.

But, fooled no more
How were you able to meet your regular pioneer hours with all that work?
