Awesome idea. Marking this thread for later. Keep these coming. That, "Is it wrong to change your religion?" article is awesome. I just shake my head these days.

WE CAN DO THIS....if you think the idea is as good as I do!
by Terry ini have long had an idea that i think is a very powerful tool in reaching even hard-nosed jw's.. .
it would consist only of actual photographic scans of various documents, articles, photographs such as these from marvin shilmer's blog: (see next panel).
there would be no extraneous non-official text whatsoever.. it would be published the size of an old life magazine and sent anonymously to jw's at their homes.. the cover would clearly contain the words: "all contents originally published by watchtower bible &tract society".

What if EVERTHING you believe to be true.....is a LIE?
by Terry inwhat if everything you thought was true turned out to be a lie?.
what if some of the most important "facts" turned out to be false?.
does seeing your strongly held convictions shattered, refuted, disproved hold out liberation for you or a sense of doom and embarassment?.

by free2beme ini have witness friends telling me, that this is the end right now!
that this globel issue of the nations of egypt, libya and others ... is the sign they looked for.
now with what is happening in the usa, wisconsin to be exact, more trouble is rising and this is it.

There's a sign on the interstate not far from our house that has a picture of someone who's supposed to be Jesus. On top of it is a quote that says, "Jesus said 'Repent because the end is near'". It's not signed to let you know who sponsored the sign. It's all I can do to not rent the next billboard and quote the first saying, "Jesus said, 'Repent because the end is near'" AND THAT WAS OVER 2000 YEARS AGO!!!! GET OVER IT ALREADY!!!!!!
I mean c'mon.....

Magwitch,
I did the math after I posted originally. I was 6 years old in 1981. I guess I wasn't running the roads quite yet. But you know how it is up there, for the most part the same people have been there forever. I bet we do know / did know a lot of the same people. Trouble is that after a fade of about 15 years for me and moving across the country I'm finding it's getting harder to remember them. Thank God!

Now imagine he's your little (blood)brother. Had a similar conversation with my little brother a few months back. Haven't talked since. It's a bummer for sure. They are casualties of a cult. (That'd make a great name for a book: "Casualty of a Cult" ...but I digress.)
The only thing that brings me back to center is comparing them to someone who is out of their mind. They just don't know what they're talking about, and short of putting them in a straight jacket and deprogramming them, they're probably not going to come around anytime soon.
Keep your chin up brother.

Magwitch are you serious? You wen to the Ladysmith congregation. We probably crossed paths. Only I'm a tad bit younger then you. O:-) Rhinelander, Merrill, Wausau and northward were kind of my stomping grounds when I was younger. But I used to run Hwy 8 west over to Rice lake back in the day ....went through ladysmith all the time.
Joliette, come on down to Texas. Then you'll be in our neck of the woods. Texas has a little more moxie than Oklahoma. But that's just my opinion.

I used to live north and west of there a bit Joliette. Where are you going in two years? I've been gone from there for almost 10 years now. Best move I ever made. :-)

OTWO .....
"Case 39" with Renee Zellwigger (sp?) Awesome! Rent it even without the others. It's a New Release.
"Devil" - New Release ... setting 5 people are stuck in an elevator. One of them is the Devil. Awesome ...
Both of these movies will make the whiskers on your face stand straight up. They are not the least bit cheesy as some thrillers are. Trust me, I gasped out loud during "Case 39" and my wife will tell you I have a pretty high tolerance and am not easily shaken. It made me realize I still have some belief left in me. If you believe in the one, you have to believe in the other. Bwahahahahaaaa................
