"I'll dial your phone number." This goes back to when there were rotary dials on phones. Now, we have buttons. I guess it doesn't sound quite right to say, "I'll button your phone number." or I'll press your phone number."

Welcome to the forum. Like others have already said, you are fortunate that your relationship did not go any further.
As another suggested, if you want to mess with him a bit - even after he has left, go to that landlady that he used to be near, and tell her a bit of the details of your relationship - and about the sex that you two had - especially if it was AFTER he was re-instated. The gossip mill will then begin to churn and his wagon will be fixed.
You need to block any future communications with him - reject all text messages, etc. He will still try to be a part of your life, possibly even getting a little nookie when he wants it. It hurts, but be strong and keep away from him.

they are new to the congregation since i left in 2002/3.. they were offering a dvd for deaf people to 'learn what god requires of me".
i said there were no deaf people here.. the other guy that was just standing there asked if there were deaf people in this area.
Chaserious & Splash are most likely the most correct. It sounds like the folks that knocked on your door were on a fishing edpedition - looking for deaf recruits.
I remember when I was still a good lil' JW (well... if that's even possible), I was in charge of the local territories. We had a Spanish Cong that also 'shared' the territory (supposedly). We would occasionally go on a 'fishing' expedition, seeking out those that could only speak Spanish, and give those addresses to the Spanish cong.
Funny thing is... the Spanisg cong would just go through the entire territory - not even paying attention to those addresses. It was quite a comedy capers on a Saturday morning to knock on a house and get the 'you were just here!' response from the disgruntled person inside the home. After apologizing profusely, and backing quickly away from the door, making a hasty retreat, we would find the other folks from the Spanish cong. If they spotted us first, they'd high-tail it outta there like their pants were on fire.
I always questioned the guys in charge... I was a bit miffed, especially since we were supposed to 'follow the rules' of not working the spanish speaking homes. I always got the 'well, we'll look into it' response, and nothing was ever done.
Anyway... in the case of these people knocking on your door asking if any deaf people lived there... you should've given them the 'you people were just here!!!' response, and watch 'em run like cockroaches when the kitchen light is turned on.

i was surprised this week by calls from active jws complaining about the new magazine format, and more begging for money from the platform.. frankly i was surprized by this reaction since this is old news to jwn members.
i guess actually shuffling to the bookroom and grabbing the new "awake tracts" minus the inside cover forward ...awakened many sleepy, catatonic, bored jws who never read the things or go on the internet anyway.. any feedback from other areas?.
Speaking of 'demonizing' the internet, my younger brother probably does not have DSL... probably is still using dial-up.
I wonder how people like that are going to deal with having to go online and download all of their information, as directed?
Perhaps I should call him up and somehow (I hate - with a passion - discussing religion) get him to talk about how they are now getting their info over the internet.
for any old-school ex-jws here that remember my many posts about my abusive jw mother and my sister committing suicide because of it...she passed away this morning because she began to bleed out and refused a transfusion.
she had been in the hospital for a month.
it appears she suffered a stroke and wasn't found by the brothers & sisters for three days (they missed her at the meetings).

My mother passed away several years ago. I remember my sister telling a fellow JW at the funeral... "We all thought that Armageddon would have been here by now..." or something similar.
My older sister was in shock... not sure what to do next, but all they know is to go back to their meetings - not think about the lost youth and other opportunities of life and living... and live on till death takes them.

Yall need to watch the movie 'Mission to Mars'. In particular, the last 15 to 20 minutes or so.
I won't spoil it for you, except to say that they propose exactly what is being discussed regarding the space travel in liquid.

I've read through all of this thread with interest. I am in no way an expert (like some on this board appear to be), but I have my own thoughts on how a vehicle could move at a high velocity - in fact some have already mentioned it.
Anti-gravity.
So many people tend to throw that term around like it really means something, but fail to understand what it really means.
If a vehicle were hovering in mid-air (like a helicopter), and then threw a switch which would then engage anti-gravity, what would happen?
In all of the discussions above, people have the air-ship traveling at great speeds and having to protect the occupants from enormous G-forces.
But, what if the anti-gravity, when turned 'on', caued the air-ship to just stand still, as the earth moved away?
I'm not doing a good job of explaining this. Let me try to illustrate it.
Let's say that Bubba has a friend that is driving his pickup truck down the road. Bubba is in the pickup bed with a friend that we will call Observer. Bubba also has a baseball that he is tossing up in the air whilst the pickup truck is barrelling down the road at 70 miles per hour. Bubba is doing a good job of tossing the ball and catching it. To Observer, it looks like the ball is going up and down.
Now, let's say that there is a friend on a bridge that crosses over the road. They are able to be positioned over the edge of the bridge, in a position that puts them right over the pickup as it comes speeding past underneath. Bubba is tossing the ball, and on one particular toss, the person on the bridge catches the ball, mid-air.
The truck continues speeding down the road with Bubba scratching his head as he lost his ball. Observer, watching the ball sees what appears to him, from his vantage point, the ball, speeding away from them at a high rate of speed (70 miles per hour). The ball, however, is being held perfectly still, in the hands of the person on the bridge.
This is, what I feel is happening when people report UFOs that fly up in the air, hover for a bit, then seemingly speed away at an enormous rate of speed. To them, the UFO is moving. To the occupants on the UFO, they are standing (or sitting) perfectly still.
What is happening is that the earth is the object moving. Or rotating, if you will, at a very high rate of speed - away from the UFO.
Something to think about.
