Bitcoins - anyone here mining?

howdy!.

it's been a while since i've poked my head in here.... i was just curious if anyone on the forum is involved with bitcoin mining?.

i am, and am having fun doing it.

Besty - As I mentioned above - I have only been mining Bitcoins for over a month. My co-worker has been doing it for about two months.

He is using Bitmain miners. I am using Habanero miners.

I am approaching 1 Bitcoin (yeah, not as much as others). The exchange rate for 1 Bitcoin right now is about $475 to $525.

I am aware of the ups and downs, the ins and outs of Bitcoin mining. I realize that it isn't for some people.

I am mining as a source of extra income, and while it is slow going, am seeing progress.

Due to the hostile environment here in this forum, if there is real interest and a desire to continue this discussion, folks can look me up on Facebook and I'll be glad to continue discussing this.

Simon,

I appreciate that you are the 'owner' of this forum, and have every right to kick me off for speaking my mind.

I was looking for folks who are bitcoin mining to speak up, and have a discussion.

You are NOT bitcoin mining, and yet continue to speak in this thread. You have made it very clear how you feel.

You have also made it clear that you think anyone who does bitcoin mining is either 'dodgy' or wasting computer power.

So unless anyone wants to go against you, they are going to remain silent.

Thanks for being a thread-killer, dude.

BTW - running a forum for as long as you have could also be construed as 'dodgy' and "wasting computer power (which means energy and pollution)".

RE: Simon - so that's a 'no' from you. Okay.

RE: Tt2C - Cool. It looks like you are mostly trading BTC and not really mining it. I say that because GPU's are not really capable of cranking out much in BTC - if I understand it correctly.

Most of the modern (well - 12 months old) technoogy use ASICs. The more recent ones are about .5w per G-Hash. I've even seen ASIC's that are .33w per G-Hash. The lower the power, the better the ROI.

I've discovered that you need >1TH/s to even start thinking about doing any BTC mining.

I'm still a newbie at this, and have only been mining for neary two months, but am learning as I go.

Tainted Love: Your JW wedding

mine was actually great because my non-jw parents decided to pay for the reception, limo, cake, dress, honeymoon, and more.

i can thank my non-jw parents for what a totally fun day it was.. but, half or more of the guests were jws, jws who don't speak to me anymore.

some have even slandered and abused me.

Well, I kinda remember my wedding. The now ex has all of the photos of it. She can keep 'em, although I would like one or two of myself almost 35 years ago.

The wedding? Well, the most expense was my wife wanting to spend her hard-earned money on a wedding dress. I think it was around $300 or so - which back then - for two youngsters in their mid-twenties - well, it could have been spent better.

My tux - a rental. Close to a hundred dollars.

We designed our own invitations and had them printed at the print shop where I worked for a small amount of money.

The kh was used for the wedding. We had to switch from an originally planned Saturday evening to a Friday evening. Someone else wanted the Saturday.

I got an elder friend that I admired, Karl, to do the wedding ceremony.

For the reception, we got a back room at a local restaurant. I believe they charged me something like $50.00. Everyone was on their own for ordering food or whatever.

The wedding cake was made by the wife of the elder who gave the talk. Sammi always told me that she would make the wedding cake for my wedding when I got married, and she did. So, that didn't cost me anything.

My side of the family - JWs - boycotted the wedding. Not sure why, but it was expected.

We just had a best man and a bridesmaid. No extravagant ceremony.

For our honeymoon, my father-in-law gave me his credit card to go and rent a night at the local Holiday Inn. He wasn't a JW. Never was. Nice fella. Miss him.

All in all, I don't think that we spent more than $500 or so. We paid for it all, no inlaws or family helped out. I didn't realize that was an option.

Did you feel nervous before/while giving talks?

it reminded me of a sister i knew.

you always knew when you got to the meeting if she had a talk that night.

Maybe at first... when I was a young kiddo, but later on, when I was a teenager, no.

In fact, when handed an assignmend, I usually left off preparing for it until the last minute. Maybe not the brightest thing to do, but it seemed to work.

I think those were called 'Thursday Night Miracles'.

I am still able to speak in front of audiences of people, I did so this last September for a Renewable Energy Roundup, when I shared my experiences using solar and LEDs. Of course... I spent waaaay more time preparing for this than I did for my JW speeches.

first i made love to my wife, maybe i'm better in bed then i thought, because about an hour after that my wife comes back in and i'm sitting at my desk and i asked her, "when the elders df me are you going to leave me, spiritual endangerment and all" she said, no, i don't feel endangered and we talked awhile and i talked about da ing and not sure what to do, then i shared with her a toned down version of the da letter that i posted and that led to her asking about my beliefs and understandings of who the great crowd and 144k, heaven and earthly hopes.

i was even able to tell her how they changed or distorted the meaning of the word naos to show the great crowd not in heaven.

i was able to show her some of the scriptures from the da letter, able to tell her a little about 1914 and how jesus did'nt invisably come in a presence, showing her scriptures on that and some more ttatt.

Ummm... KW13 - he never said how long the sexual encounter lasted, he was saying that an hour afterwards is when the rest transpired. The sexual encounter may have lasted 24 hours for all we know. Perhaps you need to read s-l-o-w-e-r.

for more years then i'd like to count, one jw relative has never called to see how i was doing.

today she calls out of the blue, asks how i am, and if there's anything she can do for me.

as of late another jw relative has been a lot more communicative.

You didn't mention the ages of the relatives. But you said 'over 30 years' - so that means that at least one of them is probably close to 50 - or over that age.

I would say that as one gets older, a lot of 'rules' that were imposed when younger no longer to hold the power they once did.

They are also of the older 'generation' that has seen a lot of the changes in the policies, and teachings. Maybe they are thinking they have had enough of it.

Since you're DF'ed, you have nothing to lose... be nice to them. Let them know how you feel, and that you think that relatives are important.
