i know the wtbts have bastardised the criteria for 'the time of the end' and 1914, but as far as i am aware, it will still come while those that were alive in 1914 (not necessarily of an understanding age lol) are still alive, yes?
now, if we give them all until they are 110 years old (quite generous of me don't you think), that means in 20 years time we should see the wtbts disappear (or at least be in rapid decline) as all of the anointed are pushing up daisies, and this wicked world is still alive and kicking.
suppose we could see an increase in field service at old folks homes!
It'd never happen. You see you forgot one thing...

i thought that was a religious-based organization?his devotions were recognized in 1998, when he received the angel network award from oprah winfrey for his work with habitat for humanity.. .

habitat for humanity international is a nonprofit, ecumenical christian organization dedicated to eliminating substandard housing and homelessness worldwide and to making adequate, affordable shelter a matter of conscience and action.
I think this fella may fall into the "If you donate enough money, we will overlook a lot." category that some of the more popular 'JWs' do (I.E. Prince and MJ).

i have been dfed/daed for nearly 7 years now.
long story.
anyway my mom has shunned me ever since.
Ummm... what billygoat said.
I don't have any immediate family that 'claims' me.
But I have an ex-JW pal that I have 'adopted' as a sister. It may not be quite the same, but... well... for your kids' sake - you might want to try to find someone that your kiddo can call 'granny'. (Of course... when/if your mom finds out... it might make for interesting fireworks.)
You will never - and shouldn't try to - change your mom's beliefs. What she believes is what she believes. (You wouldn't want her trying to change _your_ beliefs, right?)
So - accept that, and things might go smoother... for both of you.

my mother told me today that its going to be held a special meeting in all congregations worldwide at march 7.. .
some new information is going to be released, and its very very secret indeed.
we are not supposed to tell anyone what we heard at this meeting to the ones who have the meeting later the same week.
Well... I haven't been to one of their 'meetings' in years - but I can make a guess like anyone else can...
1) Like has already been mentioned... they're gonna 'add' another boring meeting to the ever-growing list - to keep the average joe-blow in the dark - and off those 'internet-connected' computers.
2) They are a month away from their precious 'memorial' - and are gonna have a 'special' campaign to get as many suckers in the door on that night. *yawn*
It's probably #2... #1 would create a revolt.
Sooooo... most of us - who haven't been - in a coons' age - can expect a 'friendly' phone call from some friend/relative - that we haven't heard from in ages.

i have found that while i can remember my childhood from ages 3-5, i can't remember much after that until i was 17 or so.
my mom came into the jws when i was 3, and i remember celebrating our last christmas.
it was a small christmas tree on the end table and it had a present for each of us (2 kids).
I dunno. My mom started studying when I was a wee lad of 5 or so.
My childhood memories? Well, I can remember a few from that time period... mostly of my dad whaling the daylights outta me with a leather belt.
I don't remember much else of my dad, though. (I always figured I was a real evil kid.)
I can remember things from about 7 years onward... but not much from before that.
As for celebrating Christmas prior to my mom studying? Well, I have two small 'flashes' of memory... one deals with one of my sisters sewing a sock puppet (you know... a sock, buttons for eyes, felt for a tongue), and me carrying on so - wanting her to make me one too - not realizing that she was making this one for me - and as a Christmas present.
The other Christmas present that I remember was given to me by... well, I'm not sure. A very tall fella... near as I can remember - my cousins' husband - a whole set of plastic toys - cowboys and indians and horses... that sort of thing. I had those toys for a long time. (We were very poor, so to get something like that was like gold to a kid like me.)
Other memories of my childhood prior to 7 years old are like 30-second commercials... very brief - and very sporadic. Not much of anything really.

any expert or geologist wanabe in this forum that can relate the recent tsunami to the above question?
take into consideration what i mentioned in a previous topic

"a piece of tar-covered timber that someone had discovered on Mount Ararat in an area where ice had melted. Could this have been a piece of the ark? Maybe, maybe not, my question is how would you know it was the ark if the ark was actually found?"
Well, usually... if old objects are found - scientists will try to carbon-date them.
So, I guess the real question would be... "Would you accept it as 'fact' if there were carbon-dating done on old objects?"
If you answer 'yes' - then stick to that - even if the carbon-dating does not give an answer that you like.
If you answer 'no' - then it is going to be difficult to provide you with _anything_ that can be called 'proof'.
Even if writings were found - 'Noah's Log' as you put it... you may dismiss it as a 'forgery' if the time-line does not line up with what _you_ feel it should.

after reading this thread, i started wondering whether online dating sites work well.
has anyone had any success with dating sites?
if so, which one?

well it has been alot of years since we engaged in the rooming work.
did anyone of you experience postive results or were people nasty.
share some of your stories.
Put me down as having stayed in some of those rooms. The theory was that they cost less than staying in a motel - or hotel - for the duration of the Assembly.
When we went to Kansas City, MO (or was it Kansas) in 1970 or so... we literally were staying in a basement with a bathtub in the middle of it - and a shower curtain hung around it. *shaking head at the memory* I guess it was better than nothing.
Another time - the Assembly was at Texas Stadium... let's see... that must've been around 1972(?) or so... that place was nicer... but hot as heck... an old house with 12-foot ceilings - no A/C - and only ceiling fans to dry the sweat at night.
Yeah... I remember those days... *shudder*

so i am watching american idol(yes i have no life) and one of the winners came out screaming and holding what looked like a nw translation - black cover.
can anybody with a tivo confirm?
it was like just before the horrible guy in the purple shirt came on.
This particular gal didn't make it to the next round. She was sobbing in the hallway, I believe with her friends and family.
I am not sure if she was one - but some of the contestants made the statement that their 'friends' said that they sounded great! (Those were usually the worst singers - I thought... time to get new friends.)
