I dunno... *shakes head slowly* ... I see a joke in this somewhere...
kinda goes like... "Is the Pope Catholic?"
then ends like... "Is the Pope's cousin a JW?"
you get the drift.

i graduated from high school in 1984!
class of 84 rocked!
1984 graduate.
1974 - the year just prior to... oh, never mind. Yall all know. *rolls eyes*
i really feel for them!
please do not be an idiot and call any of the numbers!
if you know of someone displaced by the hurricane, they should call the rooming hq: .
I find this interesting...
First - it's obvious that it was a scanned 'letter'.
Second... it is filled with the usual JW 'urban legend' type of hype.
Just one example. It starts out by stating...
"They have made 800 rooms available to house these friends who are coming in as refugees."
Then later on in the 'letter', it reads...
"...and some 800 homes were generously volunteered by Sunday night."
So. Were these 800 rooms? or 800 homes? or what? It seems to keep getting bigger and bigger, doesn't it? Soon, it'll turn into 800 hotels.
There are other examples in this 'letter' that have blown-out-of-proportion hype in it... I recognize it from my days in the past as a JW. (Part of it even sounds like a bit of Insurance fraud...)
Don't get me wrong, I feel for the victims of this disaster... but let's give 'aid' to all. Not just the JWs.

i work in a business that is dealing with the aftermath of hurricane katrina.
in perusing a list of shelters in the affected areas i see civic centers, schools, several churches, but no kingdom halls (gasp!).
imagine that!.
I think yall are getting reeeeeal close to the most likely reason that the WTBTS _doesn't_ jump right in there and contribute cash and other aid.
If they did - they would reveal to the world - how much money - or a part thereof - that they have stashed away.
Can't have the IRS nosing around asking questions... not to mention the lower-level JWs.

Do they actually 'help' their own?
When I was growing up, here in Texas, there was a hurricane that hit (and almost deleted) Corpus Christi - in the late 60's.
The local JW folks, got together a lot of food, water, supplies, and sent a truck - or two - down there - to help out the JWs in Corpus.
When I was still married to the JW wifey, there was a hurricane that hit on the coast. I asked the wifey what the local JWs were doing? She babbled something about how they were being 'helped' from Brooklyn now, and not by the surrounding JW folks.
I thought that a tad odd... is that how they do things nowadays?

check out this website:.
http://www.tumbleweedhouses.com/.
i want one of these houses!
Wow! Those are cute... and small...
What about one of these?

They cost about $25 or so per sq.ft. and are very energy efficient!

has anyone seen the sight recently?
they took down the official watchtower logo.
they seem to be offering alot of stuff like calendars, books, claiming to be from the bethel library.
I remember this one... I did a 'whois' on the site name, and located the owner of the site, who is in New York state.
It is _not_ affiliated with the WTBTS. It ought to be interesting to see what happens.

i was in downtown annapolis today and went into a british/irish store that sells goods imported from the uk.
i saw a bottle of marmite and decided to try it.
i bought the bottle, and when i got home i tried it.
I got introduced to Vegemite by a friend from down-under... been a few years ago, now.
I tried it... kinda liked it. The ex-wife and daughter though... *mental a funny face*
I even bought a jar locally - and continued to spoon a bit onto toast. The person told me to start off slow - and increase it a bit... which I did.
Then this person came from Australia to Texas, for a visit.
I took my jar to breakfast with me - to a local restaurant, where I got my toast, and proceeded to spread the Vegemite on the toast. I heard a bit of gasping, and grunting from my friend. I looked up, and asked, "What?"
She was horrified! She said that I was spreading it on too thick! She then proceeded to spread it so thin that you could read through it. Sheesh! Wimp! *wide grin*
I still have some Vegemite in the cupboard, somewhere... I kinda quit eating it.
Oh. Also... be careful. The first time I tried it, it peeled the hide off the insides of my mouth!

that is some nasty crap.
i mixed the power with cold water.
it tasted like puke.
RE: Protein shakes...
It has been a while since I have used the 'whey' protein powders...
I prefer the 'Milk & Egg' protein powders. The one that I use is from Vitamin World - and has 16g of protein per scoop (21g). It is low in sugar, and sodium.
It has all sorts of other vitamins and minerals, too.
I make my protein shake every morning (except Saturday & Sunday) and drink it.
The ingredients are...
1 scoop of protein powder
1 scoop of lecithin granules (to allow it to blend and stay mixed)
1 raw egg
2 tbl spoons of Milo (whey) chocolate powder (optional)
2 cups of milk (whole or skimmed - your choice)
In the blender for a few seconds, and then in a tall glass. I down it with my vitamins, and it lasts me through lunch.
I ain't into body building or anything though... I just like my protein shakes for breakfast. I've been doing this for many years... almost 30 now.

my husband is not afraid, embarressed, or ashamed to go to the store for myself or our daughter.
i have been with him, searching for a certain size tampon.
he will go to the store and buy napkins, after writing down what brand, size and absorbancy it is.
About two months ago, my girlfriend had gone to the store with her mom and bought some pads. Somehow, in the process of bagging the groceries, they got left behind.
They got home later, and realized that she had no pads. She decided it was too far - and too crowded at the store - to return and try to get those that she had forgotten.
I immediately told her I would go get her some from the store. I asked her what brand, and type she needed, and she told me. I wrote it down - as I am not that familiar with that sort of thing.
I had no problem walking into that section of the store and getting her what she needed.
For some reason, both she - and her mom, were surprised that a man would do this. Why? *puzzled look*
It was something that she needed. I know that she would do something similar for me. I just wanted to make sure that she had what she needed.

Jim TX
