Independent Thinking
by Jang inindependent thinking .
a skill we all need .
what is independent thinking?.

To fredhall,
You're right. Independent thinking can lead one astray.
I now choose to be a dependent thinker-dependent on God (NOT man!) -

True Prophecy
by littleone in"for no matter how many the promises of god are, they have become yes by means of him.
therefore also through him is the "amen" [said] to god for glory through us.

One must be cautious when searching for God's "newly released information bearer." The teaching that God will only reveal himself to a select few or to a certain group rides real close to Gnosticism. That old "secret knowledge" teaching was prevelent in the early centuries. God reveals himself to those who seek him and believe; not to a self proclaimed prophet (person or organization).

What About Works Without Faith?
by metatron inyes, what about works without faith?
this is one of those topics.
that exposes the sick, unspiritual nature of the wts.

I know about that teenage double life routine. That was me in the seventies. Thankfully I pulled it off until I was able to go out on my own.
Now I've got faith AND freedom! (Feels good.) -

Art School JWs?
by Stephanus insome years back i went to art school for a year, and life drawing was one of the subjects.
although the prospect of perving on naked women was at first appealing, it soon became evident that sex-drive is a left-brain function while drawing is strictly right-brain.
iow, drawing naked people was just plain hard work, and it was the only thing that was hard!

I suppose being a doctor would be out. (Its those examinations, ya know.)
You might as well throw out being a sports reporter. (Oh, those evil, competitive locker rooms.)
You could really stretch this out and say you could not work for undergarment or lingerie manufacturers. Hmmm... I wonder why? -

Is there life after JW?
by chrisauld inhi everyone, i'm new to this whole internet thing, i always thought that the internet was 'wrong', i guess.
i was just wandering if anyone else was finding it hard to get on in life after deciding that jw's are not the 'truth'.
does anyone else feel the struggle to find a substitute?
-
Jimmer
Yes, there is life after the WTBTS. The whole concept of "trying to find a substitute" is an especially important one to grab hold of. it is not unusual for a person who has been wholly dependent on someone or something else to feel seperation anxiety. (Kinda like quitting smoking.) A person is not used to being independent. He or she is frantically trying to find someone or soething else to attach to. However, if one can realize this and supplement that knowledge with a close friend or two to unload on when needed, he or she will become free of the need to "find a substitute." The journey might be painful at first, but the destination is terrific!
Good luck and stay between the ditches. -

Hey, Gopher!
It was nice seeing you the other evening.
A support group? Hmmm...
Keep me posted. Maybe I'll know a few.
Or maybe I could drop in on one of them.
If there is one thing ex-jws need, its company with individuals who have had similar life experiences in the wtbts.
Check you later. -

Welcome, from the thawing Midwest.
I wish I were 23.
But these aching bones are two days from 40 (aaaaargh!)
Of course, now that I'm out from under the watchful (prying) eyes of the organization, I get to celebrate my birthday. For all you just out or just thinking about it, B-days will make you smile (as opposed to any meeting I ever went to.)
Hey, celebrate leaving the WBTS. That's worth celebrating!
