i am going to put together a page of short experiences of how shunning has affected exjws.
you do not have to be disfellowshipped, even if you were shunned after being marked or after fading.
all comments are welcome, such as who shunned you, how long since family have spoken to you, what your situation is, why you are being shunned and how it has made you feel.
My cousin had a baby about 6 months ago and I called them to ask to come see my new cousin. He told me that I could come over for 5 minutes but then had to leave. However, my wife could stay after I left since she had not openly told the family that she didn't want to practice as a Witness anymore, even though we both had been inactive for over a year.

do you have a responsibility to it at all?
or is it ethical to do what you want with it, sense ethics are relative?.
I was talking with my wife in the car last night. I said "What if God IS like the toltalitarian ruler in the Bible? What if he DOES demand worship and actually DOESN'T have 'perfect justice.'"
I came to the conclusion that I would rather not have life.

i don't want to sound like i'm whining and for the record, i'm not mad at my parents at all.
i love them dearly, and i have many fond memories of my youth despite the jw upbringing.
at the same time, i often wonder what it would have been like to play sports during my school days.
I can't tell you how many times I have heard statements like this from Witnesses:
"I'd LOVE to learn how to play a musical instrament... but it will have to wait for the New Order."
I have to scratch my head.

To add to the question:
God, through the Bible, clearly does not have a problem meddling in the affairs of Humans. Remember the tower of Babel? God confused all the languages because of their audacity.
If He is trying to make a point, why does he selectively intervene in Human affairs? When I read the Bible is seems clear to me that he intervenes arbitrarily.
Children are innocent, fragile sentient creatures who need to be protected. As an all-powerful creator I feel He has a responsibility to those children. But WHO AM I to question the All Mighty?
Well maybe he should start over and make people who don't ask questions.

the abuse began with a kiss on the boy's mouth, and became more sexual as the youngster got older.. on one occasion there was "unnatural carnal connection" between them.
Truly disgusting. How typical of the elders to tell the 19 year old he'd have to be DFed. Then what about the perpetrator of the crime who is 45 ? Does he get a frigging gold medal or something ?

"He approached elders at his church and told them and they said it was wrong and that if it continued he would have to be disfellowshipped by the church .
This would imply only one witness, is the WT loosening that policy?

forget about noahs ark; there was no worldwide flood.
many people have contacted me about the recent claims by a group called noahs ark ministries international.1 the evangelical organization claims to have discovered noahs ark.2 i have responded on several occasions to these dubious claims on my blog.3 and still, this group has stood behind their claim,4 insisting that what they have found is real based largely on the belief that because the bible says the flood and the ark are historical, it must be so.
so, instead of addressing their spurious claims yet again, i thought i would approach the issue from a different angle: forget about noahs ark; there was no world-wide flood.. the worldwide flood described in genesis 6-9 is not historical, but rather a combination of at least two flood stories, both of which descended from earlier mesopotamian flood narratives.
What about Jesus? Is he a liar too?
Ummmm, you might not like the answer to that question...

i have been doing a lot of reading and thinking about this the past year.
