Hello JWN...excited to be a new member!

i stumbled on to this forum about a month ago...and i'm hooked!!

a tremendous amount of knowledge, wisdom, great debate, and lol humor, which is good for the soul.. i am not a jw, but the borg infected my family years ago, many are still trapped, and i have 2 big shot elders.. i became a huge opposer/apostate and had many a battle.

today we have learned to live in peace...live and let live.. recently, i decided to get up to date with everything jw... i often wonder why my family can't see or figure out the real truth.

Welcome to the forum!

They can't see the real truth because they don't want to see it. It takes a great deal of emotional foritude for ANY of us to admit when we are wrong. A JW addmitting he/she is wrong rocks their very foundation and will alter their perception of reality!

Some just want an answer that halfway makes sense, they are not interested in searching for truth...

Because sometimes we can't handle the truth.

This has more to do with making the organization as a whole look pure solemn as one that is directed by god's Divine light.

How JWs look as an organization from the OUTSIDE (to non-witnesses) is talked about almost every meeting (it seemed like).

It's an obsession of outward appearence.

Why not just "do your thing" and get commended for HONEST effort. Every KM about an assembly is basically commanding the members of the congregation to "make a good witness".

It's like commanding your son to say thank you for something; does he really mean it or is he just doing what he's told?

i dont know if this thread is going to offend anyone...but whenever i was a kid, and i thought about 'jehovah distroying everything' i always used to think about that song 'rock the cabash' by the clash, (and later willeinum by will smith).

or rem-its the end of the world as we know it?

i dont know why those two songs go through my head whenever i think of the end of those world when i hear those songs lol..

I totally agree with your statement on fear-mongering and the paranoia and other related ills towards others that it breeds.

It's a very ancient way of thinking. I believe the Witnesses are borrowing this thinking from ancient Israel. They basically thought God was behind every bad thing that happened to them (because they had no other explanation). In turn, the Witnesses (thousands of years later, mind you) are still practicing the same fear mongering!

Even ff JWs ARE right, MadJW will not be in paradise

the strange thing about madjw is that he defends what he calls "truth" yet ignores everything about "truth" that has to do with "love".

even in a small amount.. so let's say that the jehovah's witnesses are right, madjw.

you aren't going to be with them in their beautiful paradise earth.

you ever remember poking fun about other religions with your jw associates?.

i do.. now that i am out i find it funny and very ironic that i made fun of such "absurd" beliefs.. here is a list of the top of my head that i used to believe:.

1. that 144,000 people will taken from the earth at random and appointed a immortal kings and priests in heaven.

Matthew 10:28

in view of their teaching that there is no separate soul apart from the body, how does the wt interpret matthew 10:28: "do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul.

rather, be afraid of the one who can destroy both soul and body in hell.".

i'm not asking about the hell issue here.. i'm wondering in wt doctrine how it's possible someone to kill the body but not the soul..

Matt. 10:28 teaches not the potential immortality of the soul but the irreversibility of divine judgment on the unrepentant.

^ So they are saying Matt 10:28 is figurative?

That the "soul" referenced in that scripture represents your "eternal life"?

Correct?
