Update on My Journey: 8 Years After the End of Watchtower Control
by passwordprotected ini last updated you guys almost 2 years ago here.. i thought i'd post an update.. the peace i discovered having decided to let the angst, worry and fear over what to believe is as strong as ever, although i am keeping more abreast of what jw.org (formerly known as wtbts) is up to, and i never cease to be shocked and surprised.. as my last post mentioned, i split from the jw girl i married in 1993 and both of us have moved on with new partners that better fit who we are as grown adults, rather than the children we were 23 years ago.. my partner has no religious background whatsoever, although her children are being raised as catholics by their father.
hearing her kids openly doubt, question and even ridicule the religion is heartwarming and exactly the way it should be.. as for my children, they continue to be a never-ending stream of joy and pride.. my oldest son is now 16, having been only 8 years old when we left the watchtower.
he had big anxiety problems for a while afterwards, worrying about armageddon etc.

I'm so glad you are happy :)
You've had quite a journey to get there - but I have no doubt the end result is worth all the angst you faced.
Health-wise, you have the genes from your dad, those cannot be sidestepped, but thankfully you have come through the stresses that may have exacerbated it.
Good Luck with all you do in life - for you and your family :)

From yesterday WT, don't have kids and if you do then don't see them often nor the grandkids either
by purrpurr inunbelievable paragraph in yesterday's watchtower was "encouraging" the sheep to not have kids.
most of their growth comes from the born ins and they are still on about not having kids?.
then it went on to "encourage" those that do have kids or grandkids not to spend to much time with them and instead to spend their time serving kingdom interests!.

There was an old couple in the hall I used to attend who got married - back in the time of Bro Knorr. They were vilified and treated almost like disfellowshipped people because they went against what was touted at the time.
Until, that was, Bro Knorr got married!
Same old , same old....
The organization has NO right to dictate people lives. It is cruel and controlling!

JW Video Armageddon to occur before 2040
by Listener insorry i thought it was a new morning worship video but it is 6 months old and has already been discussed on here.. it is presented by gb helper k flodin and about this generation.
the delusion and hypocrisy runs deep.. he reminds the cult members not to speculate because they aren't supposed to know the day or the hour.
then he proceeds to speculate that armageddon will occur before 2040.. https://tv.jw.org/#en/video/vodprogramsevents/pub-jwbmw_201511_3_video.

Another thing that just sprung to mind.
The Watchtower (I can't remember the year) stated that if a member of the anointed fell away they would be replaced by someone of a similar age. And yet in the video he said if someone was anointed in 1990 at 40 years of age!?!?!
What? Where is the continuity?
I guess it's a free for all now.
There was a visiting brother form either The States or The Caribbean in the congregation I attended. He claimed to be of the anointed (he was youngish). He was viewed with great suspicion and spoken of as if he were a 'nutter'. I guess he's 'normal' now since they have clearly thrown away any age related calculations.
It really is a totally different religion (do they call themselves a religion now?) to the one I grew up in.
All the years of studying the Babylon, Daniel, Ezekiel books etc... and yet now they have pathetic slim lined magazines that look like a leaflet your find in the doctors waiting room. No deep studying is expected now I guess.
I'm almost embarrassed for them!
Rant over :)

How can they stand there and spout such rubbish!
Splane's graph is an insult to all the teachings that went previously!
When I think of the many years I studied and taught others about the prophetic times using the magic formula from Daniel to PROVE the whole 1914 teaching ... and then the years of preaching that the end would come in our lifetime...arghhhh.
When it was the year of Peace and Security we went at it big time....
What fools we were to have been caught by such erroneous teachings...
What fools we were to have wasted the best years of our lives!

Where and What. . . IS THE EVIDENCE for "Mental ILLNESS"? ? ?
by Terry ini have no interest whatsoever in stirring up controversy.. in fact, i find clashes of opinion to be debilitatingly negative.. so, i'd simply like to request that we narrow this discussion to evidence.. please watch this video which is tantalizingly titled :.
"there's no such thing as mental illness".. consider this data and listen to the presentation of cause vs. effects and give me your analysis and any evidence for conclusions you may draw.
we all have anecdotal tendencies, but i should remind you, anecdotal testimony isn't evidence, only opinion.________________________________________.

One of the best books I have ever read on the subject is: The Mind Game by Phillip Day (ISBN: 9781904015086) - it totally blows the psychiatrists and their treatments out of the water.

NEW BLOOD CARD w/ FORCED COMPLIANCE also LEGALISM
by apocalypse ini have looked around and i don't see this covered, so i am starting a thread.. 1) the new "blood card" goes beyond being just a "blood card".. 2) a new edict concerning compliance.. pay attention to the changes.. first, the new card is termed "advance decision to refuse specified medical treatment".
the big change with the card itself is that it includes an 'override' of your "power of attorney".
this is huge.

I find it concerning that they added this in: "I consent to my relevant medical records and the details of my condition being shared with the Emergency Contact below and/or with member(s) of the Hospital Liaison Committee" that is then followed with you having to supply your NHS number (that's new!).
In today's world of data protection - the idea of giving someone (the witness and the HLC) legal access to your medical records is, in my opinion, a step too far. Although it says "relevant medical records" - it doesn't take much to scroll through a data page to find more information.

JW TV - Britain Branch Report
by Listener inalthough it is titled as "britain branch report" it's not much of a report.
it only goes for just over 6 minutes and half of it is some 'wild talk' about romeo and juliette, i say wild talk because it has nothing to do with the british branch and if there was any point to it, it's lost on me.. anyway, about the only thing said that is of any importance was this (at the 2.20 mark) -.
"the governing body, very kindly, have given us permission to continue construction once we have reviewed the scope of the building so we hope to be underway very soon".

Isn't it strange when you see someone after many years and think - 'my goodness he looks so old!'
Peter was always smart and smiling (still is no doubt) but I couldn't help noticing his shaky right hand. Was that nerves or has he been ill?
He's a 'Company' man through and through.
