The Grandest "witness" that each of us could give to the world looks to be shortly upon us. Will you be there? (In honor of Ray Franz)
by StoneWall inmany of us are aware of the stroke that raymond franz had yesterday,.
that he is on life support and it doesn't look like he is going to pull through.. someone on another thread mentioned if he didn't survive how many.
was planning on attending his funeral.. to me this deserves its own thread.. .

jw sheperding calls
by Borgdrone inrecently i have been approached by an elder and asked if i could get going again in the door to door preaching activity due to not having any time in for three months.
i told him it was due to health reasons, etc.
now it seems i am due for a sheperding call in the very near future.

Ooh that sounds like something they could take and run with! Makes it seem like at some point in the near future you will answer those questions the "wrong" way. At this point if I was asked one of those questions, I would answer with a question demanding why they would be asking me such a thing. But then I've already gotten myself a rep for being headstrong and argumentative.

Is it just me or does anyone else feel that all of this talk of a funeral, plans for what to do after his death, etc. is a bit ghoulish. It's almost as if some are hoping for his death. I'm getting a mental picture of vultures circling. Just imagine if his loved ones saw this thread for example, people making plans as if he is dead already, that's really supportive!

Why does Satan get to talk to God if they are real enemies?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inin the book of job, satan ( who is already the enemy of god) is talking to god about allowing him to torment job to prove a point on the real reason job and humans serve him.
they have a one on one conversation.. when you really think about it,why would god talk or even listen to satan if they are true enemies?.
being a witness for over 35 years,the wts made me fear satan and his demons.

Silly things I wondered as a kid
by exwhyzee inif god is like a loving father why did he set up a way for adam and eve to possibly fail by putting the "magic tree" in the garden?
if my dad sabotaged his kids this way or felt the need to test our love him he'd be considered an abusive father.. when god put an angel with a spinning sword in front of the entrance to the garden why didn't a&e walk a few miles down from there and climb over the wall ?
was there a wall ?.

I asked my mom, "who made jehovah?" She of course started talking about him having no beginning, no end, alpha & omega, etc. I was a little kid but I had been taught how everything had a beginning. Mom said that was true, but god has always been. I said something to the effect that that didnt make any sense and got hit in my mouth. Thats the way my mom liked to reason. Even now i told her i dont believe in god anymore, she was like "youre stupid, youre ignorant" sigh.

Which Scooby Doo character are you?
by JimmyPage invelma- the brainy one, can't see without her glasses, possibly a lesbian.. fred- the leader, all-american good looks, possibly gay as well with that scarf.. daphne- the beauty, but beyond that, not particularly interesting.. shaggy- great for comedy relief, frightens easily, has a big appetite but never gains a pound, possibly a pot smoker.. scooby- beloved by kids, fighting a speech impediment, will do anything for a scooby snack..

Does anyone else find the whole Jah V Satan universal issue absurd?
by Aussie Oz inwhen i was 'in', that of course was a big thing, and i well knew all the scriptures and resonings behind it.. not long ago i saw a u tube video that took me into deepest space from the hymalian mountains and back in again.
what struck me was the shear immensity of just our own universe, let alone the rest of the known one.
i realized how tiny tiny nothing this little planet is.

How did you dispose of all those excess magazines?
by chicken little inwe were always told not to throw away literature, so just what did we do with it all?
i know that i would sneak it into the bin for recycling quite regularly.
my parents kept all the magazines for over 20 years in ritz boxes in a cupboard, they all went yellow and smelt wierd.

I've gotten to the point where my family member mails 'em to me, I open the envelope and head straight to the garbage can. I'm still trying to decide if I'm going to donate all my old lit or just trash it.
Having never been a dub myself, how did you end up with extras? How many are we talking about here?
Mad Dawg, the "literature servant" would give you a certain amount of mags to place. But of course, I didn't place too many if any, and the mags came out so often, I think like twice a month, so they would pile up at the house. It was possible to just have hundreds of old mags stockpiled. They made us feel bad about throwing them out.
