  Actually cagefighter, I did not attack you. I am trying to understand you. I was also not aware that there was a debate going on.

  I have no idea why the above sentence is there. What does history of slavery and killing homosexuals have to do with free speech?

  I suppose this sentence is related to the slavery sentence. That sentence however does not say anything about banning hate speech.

  I already expressed my feelings on free speech. Of course, I speak from the American perspective. I have no knowledge about the freedom of speech or lack thereof in other countries. Perhaps you should collect your thoughts, and then clearly state your argument.

  Not my concern. People in Canada and Europe need to fight for their own right to free speech. Cagefighter I am having a hard time understanding what your issue is. Are you oppressed because you are not able to express hate speech somewhere?

  So if they banned hate speech back then who would be able to speak up for the oppressed?

  What does this mean?

  Fight for it, yes. Die, no. Since I am a dues paying member of the ACLU, I already do fight for your right to free speech. Why do you ask?

  i am a born in, now ex jw.

  i now don't really believe in god which is kind of going from one extreme to another.

  i do miss the sense of community that i had as part of a congregation.

  I don't feel I must, but I guess because the KH was where my social life was, I am used to that environment. It has to do with a sense of belonging and community.

  You could never call it a party. Parties are worldly. I had a friend whose mom would always correct you if you said party. It's called a gathering. Sigh.

  Hi all. I am a born in, now ex JW. I now don't really believe in God which is kind of going from one extreme to another. I do miss the sense of community that I had as part of a congregation. I attended a small methodist church a couple of months ago, but could not bring myself to sing or partake of the communion, (I did however place a couple dollars in the collection plate kinda as an F.U. to the org). This of course once again made me an outsider, as I have been all of my life d/t the many rules and regs of the bible and org. I also attended a unitarian universalist church since they embrace many different beliefs. Once again I could not bring myself to sing, or get involved with the service in any way.

  For those of you who go to church, esp ones who never knew anything other than the JW experience, how did you let yourself go, and feel free to participate? Am I doomed to forever be the outsider who cannot let go and participate fully in life?

  What Actually Helped You Leave The Organization?

  after seeing some threads about how some think that being direct (like danny hazzard) is the best way to get people out of "the truth" or being very subtle is most effective----i was wondering what exactly made you leave the organization??.

  were you more impressed by websites that were informational?

  what really got you thinking to leave the religion and its mindset?.

  I had been inactive for years d/t severe depression, and had been thinking about returning so I could try to get married. Only thing is I didn't really want to go back. I started lurking on here, I found it when I googled for a 12 step like program for those raised in very religious closed groups.

  My mind did not get free of the org until I was directed to read the study article about treasureing your place in the congregation. That helped me see that all this time I had been manipulated by the org.

  Since Leaving "The Truth" Are You Really Happier?

  witnesses say that when people leave "the truth", they get involved in a debauched life, misery, and general unhappiness.. they give experiences of some that left the "sweet fellowship" of the "brotherhood" and the awful results because of it.

  then, they come back and their lives change 100% for the better!.

  have you found life to be miserable and unproductive since "leaving jehovah"?.

  I think so. I am also way more relaxed. Haven't been involved in any debauchery yet- soon, I hope!
