Do you really want to know
by Voices inwhy there are so many reasons why there's no reason for everything?
i mean if there's a reason for no reason then shouldn't the reason itself be a no reason at all?
how reasonable is it to be in a no reasoning zone?.

Well, I Guess There IS One Good Thing About the WTBTS...
by AGuest inif you're the kind of person who would rather convince yourself that someone isn't "deserving" of your help... which may include your money... even an amount as small as $3.00... the wtbts was the right group to be a part of.
because they have every excuse under the sun for not giving to the poor... not helping out someone in need... not even giving a hungry one a meal (because we know, don't we, that every one of them is an alcoholic and/or drug addict... and everyone knows... particularly the wtbts... that those folks... those sinners... don't deserve to eat at all...).
looks like some of have learned well from them.

Cameo-d you said: Do you talk to them and make sure they listen to five or ten minutes of your religious views before they get the sandwich?
Nope...I've asked them their names before, Especially if it's someone that i've given food to more than once and I try to be polite...nice...descent...you know...treat them like the human beings they are... without any 'religious' belief system pattern or belief exchange. But usually it's 'here you go' ... they usually respond with something polite and ....i drive away. It's usually when i'm on my way to somewhere and I see someone in need...and i try to give. I should do more for others...and i'm trying but like i said...i'm not perfect. It's not about me....it's about them.
By the way just so you're aware...there are people I know that do this...and question the belief in GOD. Question whether he exists or not. It's interesting that they, though being neutral to the idea of God, are still willing to do this act and yet there are those in the world that believe to be 'Christian' or ...whatever...and don't.
i'm not religious....anyone that knows me knows i'm not religious. I don't believe in RELIGION...organization or anyhting like that.. I'm not perfect either...I do know God exists...and believe in Jah-Eshua...but i'm not perfect...i'm having issues with my struggle/spirituality. but i'm still TRYING. but that doesn't mean JUST cause i'm struggling or having problems in my spirituality, that i should stop feeding others (Incase some people are going to try to attack that).
I'm wonder what you mean by: "Still, I say its better to help someone to be able to help themselves."
do you mean that you're helping them by NOT helpign them? ...if that's what you're saying see below....if not..ignore:
Yes sometimes you should help someone help themselves...but if right now you're only capable of helping them for the time being cause you can't afford an apartment for them to live in...get a job for them...and help them stand back on your feed..then you should do what you CAN do...(give them food for the time being) and if later on down in life..you CAN help them help themselves..by helping them with that...and teaching them HOW to 'fish' (maintain a job and so forth) instead of getting them the fish (food)...then you should.
But not everytime, or every instance is a meeting of 'helping them help themselves'...there are people out there that NEED someone to pick them up...crippled or not... help people that NEED someone to grab their arm, put it over their shoulder...and get them somewhere until they're able to do it on their own. But saying 'i'm not going to help them so they can help themselves' when you don't know their situation is...an assumption..and a little bit out there. Some people have a belief pattern that they believe to be TRUE...that deep down inside they REALLY believe that they will NEVER get better...NEVER get on their feet...because no matter HOW hard they TRY...or whatever reason...they've been CONVINCED...they're worthless or whatever. But if you truely know everything about them and know that, that type of philisophy/idea would be MOST effective...go ahead...but if you don't...don't starve the other ones tha tare REALLY struggling because those that need that type of philisophy/idea arn't listening.
...I think i'm done with this thread...getting kinda tired of it..if you absolutely need to keep going...go ahead...i think i'm kinda done though.

What's your agnostic number? (Atheists and Christians are Agnostics rounded to the nearest integer)
by pirata ina christian believes that there's 100% (1) possibility that there is a god.. an atheist believes that there's 0% (0) possibility that there is a god.. the perfectly balanced agnostic feel's that there's a 50% (0.5) possibility that god exists.
various environmental factors cause agnostics to to lean to one side or the other, and possibly round to the nearest integer.. what's your current number?.
i think i'm currently a 0.3..

Oh .....
p.s. I started doing this (feed the homeless thing) because I had a dream where I felt someone telling me 'feed the children' (food) ...or something. Not because I was trying to 'get in good with God'...or 'humiliate' them...or 'show off to others that i'm doing this'
p.s.s. I also wanted to say, I am NOT the mcdonalds person that wrote to Shelby (AGuest) ...I am another person that wanted to comment. I cannot take credit for the bravery and act that that person did.
Infact I didn't even read the other post until AFTER i had responded on this one. Which is why Aguest's comment, now makes more sense but..I was trying to figure out 'what...is she talking about? who?' I was merely speaking about the act of helping another perosn in need.

Cameo-d:
At what price? By humiliating him, stomping on his dignity by making him the focus of a scene, and requiring his participation? Play for pay.
Humiliating him? how? he has a sign that says 'hungry please help.' how am I humiliating him by GIVING him what he WANTS? Instead of ignoring him like the other 99% of the world society.
You said:
Yes, I do think motive is very important.
My response:
Motive has everything to do with it if it's pertaining to your OWN personal sefl development and reasoning. If YOU'RE trying to get in 'GOOD WITH GOD.' Unless someone is trying to take him into some sort of dangerious situation like 'i'll give you food, just come over here to Achwitz! this 'camp' thing we got going on, where you'll need to shovel some...uh...'ash' into the furnace. ' ...yeah then i can see how dangering some homeless persons LIFE can infact be a 'bad motive' ...where it brings HIM harm or others. The point I was trying to make is, TO THE HOMELESS MAN....what difference does it make of YOUR motive if he gets fed and never sees you again? there is a good chance that person would become very appreciative of the food...especially with 'Hungry please help' sign.
You said:
Many will say..." But Lord, didn't I feed the hungry in your name?"
And Jesus will answer: "I know you not!"
There is a right way and a wrong way. That is clear indication that motive determines what is right or wrong.
My response:
Again, this isn't about YOU. It's about the HOMELESS MAN. Many will say 'but Lord, didn't I give him food' ... and my response is...this isn't about YOU, or your MOTIVE, that pertains to YOU. EVEN if that is his (Christs) response...the point is...this person...homeless man...his LIFE just got better ...that day, cause YOU helped him...regardless of motive. HE (not YOU) probably DOESN'T CARE about your MOTIVE.
when you 'HELP' someone...you sacrifice YOUR needs to assist THEIR needs (not always). Even if your motive is BAD, he STILL gets fed. You may not even WANT to help them...but who said it's easy?
but if it IS about 'being good with God' and...making sure Christ knows you...sure...make sure you got your good motives in your hostler.
But this is about doing a deed for someone to make sure you prolong their life and make the struggle a little less hard.
I may have my issues with life and everything. But feeding someone...that's asking for food..even if it's bad motive...shouldn't matter about whether it's a 'good deed' or 'bad deed' so that your getting good with God or whatever ...but the focus should be the OTHER PERSON.
Unfortunately, those that do things out of 'bad motives' ...usually don't. But there are those that still do...and because of it, someone got fed that day.
You said:
Otherwise, you enable mooches who have no ambition. And you do it for the personal satisfaction of appearing benevolent before others.
I usually do this in secret...most of the time I don't tell people. There are sometimes where i can see how this might make me 'look good' in front of others...and that's not correct. That is incorrect thinking. So yes, i may need to improve on in that area. But again, until i'm completely SINNLESS ...perhaps others may be like 'okay until my motive is clean...and good...then i'm going to feed them.' Where i may be like 'okay i'm going to keep doing this so people are fed until i'm 'made perfect' in this act'
that way, they're at least FED in the mean time.
