one of my kids got me hooked on this.
it's incredibly simple but also kind of fun and addictive.. you start as a small cell and need to eat things to grow.
that's pretty much the game.. of course as you get bigger you can eat smaller cells too ... and bigger ones can eat you.. as you get bigger you get slower but you can "eject mass" to shrink and speed you up (w key).
Well that was entertaining ;)

witnesses pledge $5.5m to fix crummy dumbo park.
they will clean up before they leave.the jehovahs witnesses will give the city $5.5 million to overhaul a run-down dumbo park the organization promised to make-over more than a decade ago as part of a lucrative rezoning deal, after local pols demanded the group finally honor its pledge before it sells all its land and decamps from the borough for good.the sect officially the watchtower bible and tract society believes the money will be enough to cover its share of the long-stalled plans for the land.watchtower has set aside this amount to cover the funds officials estimated the city would need to take over this project and complete the current vision for the park, the group told this paper.the religious outfit offered to fix the moribund bridge park 2 a slab of crumbling concrete next to york street station and quite possibly the crummiest park in the city in 2004, when the city agreed to let the group build a huge housing complex on a massive parking lot next door at 85 jay st.plans at the time included a turf baseball field, a new playground, and a lighted path from the subway station to the neighboring farragut houses development.but watchtower never actually built the new property, and the planning process for the park facelift dragged for years through various design permeations, eventually hitting an impasse over cost and labor the witnesses wanted to use its members as volunteer workers, which is not how the city typically does business.the groups announcement last month that it is selling 85 jay st. now incredibly valuable thanks to the residential rezoning as part of its mass exodus from the neighborhood it has long called home sparked renewed calls for the witnesses to keep their vow and put some of the massive windfall to good use.it is unacceptable that since the watchtower committed to work with the parks department, over 11 years have passed, the site has seen no improvements, and remains a piece of barren asphalt, a host of local pols and business leaders wrote in a letter to the organization in december.it remains to be seen whether $5.5 million will be enough to take the park from drab to fab, however the parks department said it cant estimate the total costs without a concrete plan for the park in place.
watchtower honchos say they have one ready, based on the citys most recent requests for the site, which now include a skate park and a multipurpose field.those pushing for the park renewal say they also want more details before celebrating, but the pledge is still good news.without seeing the details, that seems like a significant step in the right direction, said councilman steve levin (dboerum hill), one of the letter-writing pols.
OrphanCrow: Note that the rezoning raised the value of the WT property. One of the major players responsible for rezoning in New York is a Taurus man (Lorenz Reibling's real estate company) who sits on the board of the Empire State Development Corp.
Excellent research. What a connection!?
hello people.. i'm tired and a bit sick at the moment but i can't let anyone think that this is going to go away.... i am able to tell you a few things in order to prevent any confusion in the minds of those who are thinking that nothing will come of this arc;that nothing will effect the wtbts in america and other places.. i have been there and given my testimony.
helen milroy and her assistants were there along with another group of people who are there to lend assistance if you crack up at any time during or after the hearing.
i did not crack up but can see how this happens.. security is tight and anonymity is sacred to them as they want to protect all who come forward.
in a 2013 article currently on jw.org (reference 1), the jws bragged about how their website is translated into 300 languages and that it reaches, according to alexa statistics, 890,000 unique users every day.. what about the monthly stats?
the site websitetrafficspy.com (reference 2), which draws its statistics from alexa, reports that there are an estimated 3.2 million unique visitors every month for jw.org.*.
since the 2013 memorial had an attendance of 19.2 million (reference 3), this could be understood as 1/6 of the jws and their friends visited the site on a monthly basis.. this is not unexpected as the internet itself is used only by 39% of the planet at this time (reference 4).. hence, the number of languages in which the website is translated does not offer any guaranty as to its information being accessed or even be accessible at all to most of the planets population.. .
Another thing that could inflate the visit count is apostates and worldly people just researching the sheer stupidity of the material on the site. Myself, I have gone to that site just so I could see how blatantly stupid their advice is. I have listened to a few of their videos...
Likewise. I've visited many times during a month and watched numerous videos.
I would not be surprised if a significant percentage of visitors are former JWs keeping tabs on the organisation.
this was how it was described to me yesterday by a brother who has been there for some 40 years.
"everyone is about gone; the governing body is set to leave within 2 months; the kitchen and laundry personnel are gone and i have to fend for myself now.".
"also the aggravation of 4 to 5 business men in suits with clipboards daily checking out the watchtower properties.
@Stealth, you have to post the long link for it to appear in your post ;)
i was perusing the internet not long ago and came upon this series of videos by a guy calling himself xendrius.
it declares that many of today's best magicians are in league with the devil.
his claims are based on his observation that the tricks would be impossible to do unless the magicians had made unholy pacts with the devil.. so what's the take of the wtbts?
One of the funny things about watching odd videos on YouTube is that they recommend other videos to watch based on what I've watched.
This is how I ended up coming across this video series rebutting what Xendrius claims - all in one place.

When non magicians try and explain what magicians do without magicians' knowledge they are looking in all the wrong places - just how the magician intended.
i did some reverse domain lookups to see what web domains were linked to watchtower.
i did reverse lookups on the hostmaster address, building address, and phone number.
i've sorted and deduplicated the results.. bethelres.org.
Ah, interesting. I hope Orphan Crow sees these.

Something like this...? :)

C'mon ... who didn't love the Paul Daniels Magic Show! (on Saturday night?)
I used to watch the show but I never could stand Paul Daniels. Even typing his name feels distasteful

His claims are based on his lack of knowledge of how magicians perform their illusions!
I'm not generally in favour of exposing methods but in this context it seems appropriate. You may be interested to take a look at this series that exposes how many magic tricks are performed.

I've been a fan of magic since I was a kid. My father had a book that explained some stage magic and I've always had a fascination with the methods used. To my recollection there is only one illusion I have seen for which I don't have a workable explanation of the method.
I can very assuredly assert that NO magic tricks require anything other than the skill of the magician and equipment, and I would assert that anyone could perform the illusions if they had the knowledge, dexterity, and equipment. Stage craft and artistic flair are another matter though.
While I'm on the topic I'll share with you two of my favourite card trick performances. Note that it's not just about the skill of the magician, it's about the performance and how the magician involves and engages the audience. It's not about fooling people and making them feel stupid, it's about evoking and sharing an experience of childlike wonder. There's an art to that!
