Parents who can't see the truth about their kids
by MMXIV injust discovered that my nephew, whose parents are both dubs is the school bully.
he was sent home for beating a kid up, he was also caught trying to steel a bike from a boy half his size.
apparently it's because his teachers are "useless" and "he has to bully in case he becomes a victim".

Just discovered that my nephew, whose parents are both dubs is the school bully. He was sent home for beating a kid up, he was also caught trying to steel a bike from a boy half his size. Apparently it's because his teachers are "useless" and "he has to bully in case he becomes a victim". Previously he was expelled from nursery which was explained away as they had something against witnesses.
He doesn't go to a bad school and doesn't live in a bad area so this is unusual behaviour. He hasn't been exposed to violent video games or TV but has been brought up badly.
What annoys me is that his parents / grandparents are in denial - well maybe they know but just make excuses.
The latest I've heard is he's "intelligent". Hmmmm so intelligent he won't do anything he's told, very disruptive, rude and throws tantrums for any reason.
Anyone else known parents unwilling to accept the truth about their kids?

How did you personally endure the torture during the DC?
by whatistruth inmy assembly was a couple of weeks ago and lets just say the only way i could possibly get through that b.s was by having some "funny stuff" before the sessions, then to my car at lunch.
pretty much slept the days away.
my wife would constintaly ask me what was wrong with me, i said i was feeling really sick.

I didn't go. Well I did but only for 5 minutes.
It was my last assembly - not my own DC and away from the family. Knowing I'd be interrogated on the new publications when I returned home I thought f*** it - let's play the system. Checking into a hotel I went early to the first day, got a programme and left. Then spent the day at the beach/shops etc. I returned twice over the coming days at the end of the day to collect publications as evidence of my attendance.
It was a bit tricky walking towards/into the DC when the people were leaving, but I had my books under my arm and mobile phone to my ear as if I was doing something important. I knew it was dishonest but the fade was nearly complete and I didn't have anything left in the tank.
I truly pity anyone that still has to go. That army of people could do so much for their local community over those 3 wasted days.

I saw the Queen today - well sort of
by Lady Lee inmy camera got to see her - the back of her.
too many people for me to get through with the wheelchair.
i stood up held my camera in the air and clicked in the direction i hoped she was in.

Got a pic of the Queen that made it onto the front page of a paper. Was on "Queen duty" again recently and met Philip too - he is thoroughly delightful and fair play to him for having a laugh in life.
The Queen works pretty hard for her luxury - not retired yet - still has a busy schedule of visits, paying attention and greeting endless people. I'm sure lots on JWN will have a Queen story and that's a testament to how much she does.
Charles should have been put in charge of all architectural and planning projects in the UK for the last 40 years - we'd see the benefits everywhere. Was at his first official outing with Camilla during their "courtship" - some tongues were wagging that evening

What good comes from joining a community like this for support/therapy?
by dances with smurfs inokay so if anyone can give some imput on this, i would really appreciate hearing different opinions!.
(its downright impossible to make decisions, big or small, these days....sigh).
ive been thinking alot about the possible consequences and outcome of joining in on a community like this and using it as a form of therapy or a support group type setting when struggling over the witnesses.

Pretty much all good. It's not a substitute for professional counselling but I've not needed that so this has been a haven of understanding for me. All of our experiences of growing up/ being in the cult and for some of us leaving are so varied but similar in so many ways. I'd already faded and left some years before finding JWN. Since joining I've grown in confidence about my opinions of the borg, why I disagree with their behaviours and beliefs as well as accepted more of my upbringing.
This is a bunch of people, some of whom have been treated in a truly shocking way, who give their time to support others if they can and maybe have a laugh along the way.
I too was paranoid of being discovered before I joined as I still have family in. It's easy to be non-specific about places and people though so as long as you're careful with who can see your internet history on the computer you use you'll be pretty safe.

First forum I've joined and think it's bang on - I'm a pretty slow writer and know my level - so hoping you'll all bring me up in the world. Read some stuff when needed on av forums which are dull as f***. Read a tennis forum recently - can only conclude the majority there played tennis instead of going to school.

Do you think you have an accent?
by highdose inapparently people ( like me) from the home counties of england don't have an accent, its just english...?.
for the record i would say my accent is rather like kira knightly.

I have a slightly posh English accent. I'm softly spoken and tend to get good comments when people hear me speak especially in America. The further I travel away from London I notice different accents. I love an accent on a woman - foreign accents are wonderful.
