Welcome! Your hubby has been working very hard to help JW's who have spent years being controlled to break free. It's great to know he has been able to do the same for a JW he actually knows!

i just thought you should know that mrs cedars has finally taken the plunge and joined the forum.
she was able to log on for the first time yesterday.. though we both "awakened" at different stages, mrs cedars was very supportive and non-judgmental when i first began exploring my beliefs from a critical standpoint.
she is currently in the process of reading crisis of conscience and aquainting herself with some of the facts of witness history that were hitherto unknown.

with all the talk about the book study recently i couldn't help recalling the old 'group' we used to go to from about 1970. i remember the smell of those books, the drone of the study conductor and the struggle - often in vain - to keep my eyes open.. i remember my old ministry briefcase and the kitchen of the sister where we used to meet for field service.
she was my best friends mum.
i can still feel the biting wind at twickenham conventions and the overheated, dehydrating stuffiness of bowes rd assembly hall.. i remember shuffling the snow with my shoes at the doors of homes i didn't want to be at.
Twickenham weekend again and that weather forecast is looking pretty bad - heavy rain and wind.
If those with tickets to the Silverstone F1 Grand Prix are being advised not to go as the car parks will leave many stuck in the mud despite ££££££ being spent on drainage this week I wonder how bad the Twickenham car parks will be?
So many years on cold seats designed for 1 1/2 hours of rugby instead of 16 hours of mind numbing boredom with toilet queues that would make your eyes water.
Much easier getting the new publications from JWN weeks in advance and staying at home instead.

you know people from my old congregation? small world or maybe not so unique...
remodeling is being done on the kh in my area.. friends have come to me inquiring about the remodeling.. it,s been two months.
first they ask , why no windows.. i told them some kh have windows.
soon after windows.
Our KH had windows and on a hot day they had to open them to cope with the heat as we didn't have aircon. Unfortunately this created a breeze which meant some JW's were a little cold whilst others were a little hot. During such meetings the hall overseer would get dozens of requests to open or close the windows from disgruntled JW's. He couldn't win and there used to be announcements to say he was doing his best. The looks that used to shoot around the hall when someone got their way could kill.
But those windows, when open, were a taste of freedom. Watching the trees move in the sunshine was so uplifting in what felt like a prison. They too wanted to brick them all up during a refurb. Not sure if they got their way - would be nice to think that some other kid imprisoned there will get a view of nature.

see....this is the downside to leaving the forum for a while - you know you've missed out on great conversations and it takes f o r e v e r to find older threads.. so....help a-sista out....what's the 411 on the mass exodus from brooklyn, the sale of the buildings, the $$$$ made, etc.
besides the obvious need to meet their legal payout needs (suppress all chuckles), has anyone followed the money trail?
wassup?.
A few nice properties sold for $4.1m - be sure to admire those humble interiors:

Sadly the WBTS of NY has real estate valued at $1bn which it cannot sell at the moment due to a court order from the Candace Conti trial, although I understand this may not last for that long.

the domestic violence, crime and victims (amendment) act 2012 comes into force on monday in england and wales to allow prosecution for those who stay silent over a child's serious physical abuse.. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-18638734.
whilst this law was put in place to stop a loophole whereby those who commit child murder claim it was someone else while they just remained silent, this now makes those who do not take steps to stop the abuse equally guilty.. elders who do not take steps to stop or report the serious abuse of minors could face prosecution and 10 years in prison.
it may no longer be good enough to tell the abused or abusers it's their right to go to authorities (per the 2010 elders manual) they now need to take action.. whether criminal prosecutions are brought against elders who masquerade as police, judge, jury and social workers whilst not themselves reporting abuse of a minor will remain to be seen, however the law now exists to make it possible.. any jw child who comes to serious harm where the elders knew about it should ask themselves - could i have stopped this by telling the police?

If I didn't was it because I followed the elders book or advice from the WBTS legal department - in which case who goes to prison for 10 years - me or the WBTS?
Elders - you've been warned.

i was raised as a jw and i haven't been to a meeting in about 8 years..
I wasted upwards of 15,000 hours in attending meetings, going on field service and attending assemblies.
In my professional capacity that is worth over £500,000 or $800,000
How much did I achieve in all that time? I didn't bring one person into the organisation. I helped build a few kingdom halls. I kept the machine going with talks and encouraging the tired old timers who were hanging on.
If I were paid for results then I'd have been empty handed so clearly I did waste my time.
Leaving was a life changing experience - as if I'd been set free. I've achieved so many things since I left. Never too late to leave and start living.

"You would know what the doctor means, and you would strictly heed his warning. Well, cults who teach shunning, refusing blood transfusions and secretly hide paedophiles are 'mentally unfit to run an organisation let alone one that enjoys a tax exempt status', and they seek to infect others with their damaging teachings."

http://www.jw-media.org/usa/20120620.htm .
just plain old corporate denial.
let the games begin.. .
Cowards. Disgusting cult. Evil beyond belief. They are sub-human in how they ruin children's lives and protect child abusers.
Jehovah's Winesses are now well known for being a paedophile paradise. Kingdom Halls are paedophile pick-up zones. The WBTS protects child abusers, allows them access to children at their places of worship and on the door to door ministry and expects children to call offenders their brothers and sisters.
Sick cult run by depraved evil men.

my husband just gave me the km for june.
i thought the question box was interesting.
it asks the question "what should be kept in mind if we want some or all of our assets to go to jehovah's organization upon our death?".
Give it to the RSPCA or equivalent. Most other charities are absolute thieves, most money never makes it to Africa. THe last thing Africa needs is to feed those fools who keep haing way too many kids.
mP, nothing like a sweeping generalisation to get your point across? You still on the writing committee or is slandering most registered charities and insulting those hungry in Africa just a personal view? You wouldn't by chance get on better with animals than people would you?
Back on topic - for the WBTS to suggest that JW's choices are between leaving some or all of the estate to them is very devious. This will guilt trip some older ones into changing their will. Very sad
