"We're Sooo Deep In This Time Of the End"
by minimus ini heard that many in my jw family are seriously crowing those words.. do witnesses have short memories or what??.
they sound more like false prophets to me.

What I hate most about missing the meetings...
by gutted in...is when people ask why i wasn't there.
usually i tell them, that i was sick, or not feeling well, which for the most part is true.
what is irritating is when someone presses it, especially someone you are closer with in the congregation.

Maybe something like~~Well I wouldn't say i "missed" them exactly, I felt rather RELIEVED not going. (they'll probably secretly wish they were missing more themselves, and who knows, maybe eventually listen to that feeling and leave as well) This can only happen if a person stops to listen to their inner voice ..
~~letting the fade-out gain momentum, yeah!! Elivis has left the building!! Yeah!!

I guess I am cult leader now!
by Anti-Christ ini've been gone for a while but i kind of miss you guys and gals so i decided to see what was up.
for me i found out a few days ago that in my old congregation the gossip about me ( i was first shocked that there was any gossip about me) is that i have started my own cult and i have a few followers (ex jdubs) wow!
i fell on my ass!

slanderous gossip in general seems to be a sort-of bonding experience for small-minded people, i think they are trying to feel more conviction about themselves and are just trying to convince themselves that if the gossipee is a freak (in a bad way), then the gossiper is in the right.
any honest and intelligent person will base their opinions of others on cold hard facts.
The white robe thing sounds fun! i endorse it!

Do you remember the moment that you stopped believing that it was "The Truth"?
by freeflyingfaerie inwas there one incident or epiphany that struck you hard?
or was it a slow...gradual awakening (no pun)?.
my coming out of the jw coma (as i like to call it) began at a family rendezvous in the beautiful florida gulf coast.

I totally feel your experiences. The comment about outgrowing the religion I relate to completely. When you step back for a moment and take a breather from the constant borage of brainwashing and let your own inner voice become louder than the WT, the big cult picture becomes more and more clear.
After that summer rendezvous it still took about 6 months of having a new skeptical outlook and becoming "spiritually weak" before I went to my very last meeting. There was alot to absorb when it clicked that I had lost my desire to bond to the mothership any longer. Thanks for your expressions. Its good not to feel alone in this.

aSphereisnotaCircle, me too. I'm a massage therapist in Las Vegas, the legit kind. The spa pays about $40-50 per hour of treatment plus tips. It has been more quiet in the past couple years w the economy , but seems to be picking up some.

My coming out of the JW Coma (as I like to call it) began at a family rendezvous in the beautiful Florida Gulf coast. It was to me a metaphor
for life. Pretty much my entire JW family and myself and my faeries were there together, surrounded by beauty and at my father's urging mostly (an elder) we still had a little sunday family study and managed to get to a meeting by the beach. How figity I was! Somehow the watchtower seemed so cerebral and detached from humanness and took the joy away. It felt like we were being obligated to not ever 'take a brake' from being JW's . and it was starting to get to me. And my parents seemed fanatical and zealous like never before.
Something about that trip made me question if we were all wasting our lives by being so religious, when opportunities and simple pleasures lie right in front of us...a metaphor for life.
And that began for me the change from "I am a humble servant, I believe anything and everything you tell me..keep feeding me more guilt, fear, and lies" to "is this for real?" and "what if ...just what if we have all been duped"?!
Your curious fellow ex-dubby,
Amie' (friend in French)
