What a perfect example of how the vitriolic Obama haters never let minor things like facts get in their way.

Let's say it goes all the way to CA Supreme Court and WT loses there. Can WT then try taking it to the US Supreme Court?
Yes, although they cannot appeal the special relationship/duty to warn issue to the US Supreme Court, which is probably the issue that the CA appeal court will be most interested in (and probably their strongest argument on appeal). Since that relates only to state law, the Supreme Court cannot hear that issue. Here is a link to the jwleaks post of the WTS appeal brief, which outlines the six grounds for appeal raised by WTS. It appears to me that in theory, four of the other six arguments aside from the duty to warn issue could be appealed to the US Supreme Court.
Technically, they could ask the US Supreme Court to hear the case even if the CA Supreme Court declines to hear the appeal.

Is Watchtower's stance against education only for North American witnesses
by wannaexit ini was reading on a european ex jw forum where some feel that watchtower's railing against higher education is primarily for north america issue.
this is due that many in usa and canada leave home to leave on campus.
it was mentioned that many young european jw attend universities and its not frowned on.. i found this odd because i heard what morris and losch said about education in italy.

@Chaserious i was talking about long term planning. In my country it has been like that for the last 3 decades.. people need higher education here in order to get a decent job.
Yes, and don't you think in 5 or 10 or 20 years you will also need higher education to get a decent job in North America (to the extent you don't already). 18 year olds who listen to the GB now will regret it as higher education becomes more and more important.

Educational systems and job opportunities differ per country. So local circumstances play a role in the decisions whether it is wise to follow higher education or not.
That is kind of short sighted, isn't it? Whether or not to get a college education impacts not only someone's ability to immediately find work in the current job market, but the next 40-50 years of her life. Just because you can find unskilled or trade work now when you are 20 doesn't mean it will be there when you are 40.
Unless you really want to take your chances that "the end" is right around the corner, as JW who have been foregoing college for generations have.

It is kind of at the eleventh hour, but I would think that if someone who can make a bona fide claim to being a member of the media (such as running or contributing to a blog, website, etc) wished to attend, they too could get permission to record.
I was a court employee for a year and we were very careful about giving equal access rights to all members of the media, whether they be a lone blogger or a major newspaper reporter.

"You insulted our Prophet" similarities with WTS / Paris attacks
by AFRIKANMAN in"this is from the nov. 15th 1952 question from readers.
this is directly from the cd btw:
questions from readers in the case of where a father or mother or son or daughter is disfellowshipped ,how should such person be treated by members of the family in their family relationship?p.c.,ontario, canada.

Kind of a weak comparion.. it says there that God's law through Christ forbids us from killing them.
It is kind of disgusting the contempt with which they describe how disfellowshipped people deserve to die, though. The connection to radical Islam is not there however.

Je Suis Charlie
by Slidin Fast inthis incident in paris makes me feel absolutely furious.
yes i feel desperately sorry for the victims and their families no one should have to deal with that.
the thing that makes me feel absolutely incandescent though is the attack on freedom of speech and expression.

I think countries have the power to shut down religions that pose a threat to the protection of its inherent citizens who are incompliance to those laws of the land.
If a government were to ban Islam, do you really think these extremist animals would just pack up and work 9-5 in a cubicle somewhere? If anything, it would probably fan the flames of their persecution complex and need for vengeance. A lot of them are trained and belong to terror cells in Muslim countries anyway. I would suspect if they are not raised this way, more are radicalized on the internet than in a mosque.
There isn't an easy answer to terrorism, and realistically such a barbaric attack probably does chill free speech to some extent, as some have observed. Hopefully the resolve of the French people and free societies everywhere won't allow that to happen. But I can't imagine that outlawing a religion, the majority of whose adherents are not terrorists, would have any deterrent effect.
