Is Christmas for Atheists?
by LittleToe ingiven that so many practises associated with christmas are blatantly christian in origin, is christmas truly for atheists?
i know that often there are few christian connotations attributed to it nowadays, in such a secularised society, but history is on record in showing that the whole baby jesus thing and angels singing with their "peace and goodwill" stuff is definitely a christian element.
would any true atheist today want to drink such a mixed cup?

LMAO @ Runningman!
Actually I couldn't agree more with this statement -
The beauty about being an atheist is that I can do any damn thing I want. I wouldn't hesitate to participate in a Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Budhist, or Pagan ritual. I find them interesting from an anthropological point of view, and from the point of view of bonding with fellow humans by participating in life.
That's sort of the way I look at it. Last year on Christmas Eve I went to a midnight mass at cathedral here. I would like to go again this year. It was more an exercise of "seeing how the other half live". I enjoyed the music, the beauty, the pagentry, the hyper ritualistic service. It was facinating to me.
Having never celebrated this holiday up until a year ago I am still trying to find my way with it. I got a tree this year because ever since I was a kid I've thought they were pretty and fun. I remember being about 7 and grilling my JW mom about what kind of christmas trees they used to have when she was a kid. I also remember feeling sneeky by slipping into my aunts living room to go poke at the ornaments on her tree.
I think for me with the JW background I've always been told Christmas was never about Christ. It makes it easier for me with my belief system now to accept it as just a chance to have some child-like enthusiasm in my life again.

GET REAL PEOPLE !!
by Simon indo some of you expect?!?!.
i am extremely disappointed to read some people's comments about the latest news.
it is one thing to express and opinion, perhaps that you think it isn't as big as you imagined (one wonders what you imagined) but it is another to be downright insulting to people who have put a lot of time and effort into this.. get real.

As JW's we listened intently to "mother" for any small slice of "new light".....how pathetic is it that some still hold to now hearing any shread of anything about "new apostate light" like attention starved 8 year olds? I guess you can't take the Kingdumb Hall out of some Ex-JW's, thus proving my thread from a couple of days ago. Their new religion is Anti-Jehovah Witness'ism.
I couldn't agree more.

NaPoLeOn DyNaMiTe.......who liked it?
by freedomlover in.
anybody else love this movie as much as i did??
i think it says a lot about the type of person you are, or at least what kind of sense of humor you have, if you liked this movie or hated it.. so far, i've not met anyone who has been neutral on this movie - usually they either love it or hated it!

Napoleon you're just jealous because I've been chatting with hot babes all day online.
LOL...Loved it. The first time I saw it - it was funny, but leaving the theater it was also a feeling of - what the hell was that? I think I have seen it like 10 more times since then - it gets funnier everytime.

Can't start my day without checking them - not exactly a time killer - but they usually make me laugh.
