ask a dub acquaintance this and see if they have anything resembling a rational answer:.
you: when you're at a public event and the announcer says, "please rise for the playing/singing of the national anthem," you refuse to stand because that would be considered an act of nationalistic worship, correct?.
dub: correct.. you: why then, when a jw is in a courtroom and the baliff says, "all rise for the honorable judge whatsherface, court is now in session," do jws stand up?
There was an article in one of the magazines once quite a few years ago, where some Indian children were praised for the respectful way they stood before the flag or national anthem, can't quite re-call which it was.
I think its time this situation regarding standing or not should be clarified by the org'

even though i discovered it when i was already disfellowshipped and really didnt have the intention of going back, i was still a fierce jw apologist.
I've just printed off some topics for my parents to read Paul, as they are long time JW's having a tough time reconciling the way the Org' seems to have lost its way.

but she is now 45 , and has spent all her life sticking to the societys policy of only marrying in the "the truth" i saw her looking at my new baby with such longing and she said her baby would look just like her she was sure !
she has seen all her friends and younger sisters marry and have babys , i dont think she could cope if she knew the sacrifices she has made for the cult were all in vain , i also knew a lady of 86 who was very sweet and "mumsy" i asked why she had no children , she said she was waiting for the "new system" she died at 87 !.
There was a sister in my congregation that ended up single through waiting on Jehovah & pioneering.
She was very unhappy about being unmarried & without children but always hoped God would answer her prayers.
One morning she was found dead on the floor by her disabled mother.
She was late 50's, unmarried, without children & unhappy.
There was a suspicion it was suicide.
as i understand it, being gay is not a sin in the organization, only homosexual acts are sins.
i've never read anywhere that gay jw people are encouraged to "fix" their gayness and marry.. i've certainly known a fair number of confirmed bachelor types who live exemplary lives in the witness sense - one life-long bethelite i knew springs to mind - but are clearly (to me anyway) gay.
they've all been in the closet though.. i wonder if any jw has ever been out of the closet, but not disfellowshipped since they don't have sex?

I guess we are like straight people in that just because they're straight it doesn't mean they all do the same 'thing' or like the same 'thing'.

Now I am gay, I find 'maleness' very attractive.
However, as much as I find a cute male butt a turn on, rather than the wide 'child bearing' hips of a female, the 'poop shoot' stuff is still revolting to me & I would avoid it like the plague if I was actively gay.
But that's just my version of being gay I guess.

I'm what you would call a NPG.
I told the congregation overseer in my congregation back in the early 90's as he was a kind man.
He tried as best he could to help me & yes suggested I might try to get to know a sister with a view to marriage as intimacy with a female may not be as horrible as I imagined. IT WAS!!!
When this elder died I sought help from a couple of other elders & it was a complete waste of time. Their advice was more bible study, more FS, try pioneering etc.
They have not shunned me in any way & still try to encourage me to go to the meetings, which I do occasionally. I can't bear all the GB & FDS worship that's becoming more & more prominent of late.
