Feelings of Impending Doom!

My parents thought the hope of living in the new world was a wonderful hope for us kids.

Not long ago I told them I never felt I was good enough as a kid & that I believed I would be killed by god at any time because the big A was always imminent. ......... They were shocked as they had never thought I would feel that way.

Could that be why I was a quiet kid at school?

What was your experience of working at an assembly hall build?

i volunteered to help out at an assembly hall build about an hour away from where i live.. i thought it would be an amazing experience & was looking forward to it very much.. when i went to reception i was asked if i had any trade skills, it was just about then i began to realise because i had no 'blue collar' trade skills i would be treated as a lesser person.........maybe even a slight nuisance.. as all the 'brothers' busily carried out their 'manly' tasks it became quite a discouraging experience because i found other 'unskilled' jw's guarded their jobs very closely & said they did not need any help.. if it was a place of christian joy i did not find.. .

It's interesting to read what you all have written.

Nomad, one of the older plumber brothers I met was very kind & didn't make me feel stupid, however there is a hell of a lot of hairy testosterone flowing at the quick builds & assembly hall builds.

It seems so ingongruous to see the same men come together for the day's text or prayer thanking Jah for all the love & then go back to the He-Man ball breaking attitude.

that question has been asked to me countless times ever since i can remember.

(the gay part, haha.

) reluctantly, i would quickly put an end to their thinkg with a swift, "no".. four days ago, after a couple of very strenuous months (years if you count the time i didn't except myself), i came out to my cousin (roommate).

Hi Cali Gay Guy & jworld, I haven't told my parents or my siblings.

I'm a NPG & you are right the JW's really do believe a person can be TOTALLY sexless. After an elder intimated as much to me I asked him to stop & actually think about what he was expecting me to achieve. He thought & then admitted it was near impossible to live like the WT demands if remaing single is the only way a gay person can be accepted by the religion.

My heartfelt thougths & good wishes go to you both.

what an unbelievably pointless, soulless and demeaning spectacle the assemblies are.

the three days were a blur of monotanous droning and brainwashing.

I remember that point Momma-Tossed-Me when it came out during a WT study....it knocked me for six & thought there would some discussion about it after the meeting between the bros.

Even if anyone hadn't agreed with this 'gem' fear kept them in check as nothing was said.

My father was sat next to me at that meeting & I asked him what he thought about Jesus not dying for him only for the anointed, he shook his head in disbelief.
