  They broke away from 'main stream' Christianity at the time....he didn't agree with Hellfire, Immortal soul or the Trinity...so he broke away. How is that not a sect???

  someone asked in another topic essentially what is your purpose in being here?

  what do you plan to accomplish?

  i thought i would start this topic as a result of that one.. i personally don't think i can 'change' anybody by being here...but the way i see it, this forum gives me a place to vent.

  I personally don't think I can 'change' anybody by being here...but the way I see it, this forum gives me a place to vent. It also helps those that leave and helps them to realize that they aren't alone.

  I was a born-in 3rd generation JW, ex-bethelite & elder. My wife and I left 3 years ago, we were still only 32. We have three amazing boys that are now free of that place. The vast majority of my family is still trapped though, but one day they may stumble across a place like this and realize the same thing as I did. It's all a crock/scam, and they have been taken for a ride their whole life....and when that happens they will have the people here to help.

  I feel that you can go through phases too from being a 'believer' to athiest to agnostic...then back to 'believer', then to athiest and back to agnostic. You name the place you are in life and you will find people here who are in the exact same place. You will find support here...no matter what place you are in. That is PRICELESS! One person's 'crazy, Bible thumping Christian' is another person's 'brother who can understand'. One person's 'too smart for their own good athiest' is another person's 'long lost twin who understands where I am in life'...

  It doesn't matter where you are in life we have one thing in common...we realized what we were a part of and left. We have each other and for that I raise my glass of OJ (as it's still morning) and I say THANK YOU and I salute you!

  Do You Ever Doubt Your Efforts Are Futile?

  ...hello folks.... ...i've read countless of posts, ideas, opinions, etc here and i'm interested in your response.... ...there is a whole gamut of feelings here from individuals that are simply annoyed with the wt organization, to those that come off as hellbent on putting the org out of comission.... ...others yet seem to have made it their mission in life to eradicate the concept of god himself.... ...to any of these, what is your motivation?

  and do you ever doubt that these efforts are futile?

  do you feel that you posses the power/ability/means to change the convictions/faiths of the masses?

  I don't think I can 'change' anybody...but the way I see it, this place does give me a place to vent. It also helps those that leave and helps them realize they aren't alone.

  when everything in my life crumbled....and i was 1 day from the preliminary court hearing to establish temp custody.....my attorney suggested i have somebody there with me.....for moral and psychological support.

  so i called mom.

  Interesting ideas on the scrapping of 1914. Very interesting too, that of the people the writing department commissioned to research 607 and 1914...some of them left the borg.

  They change who the FDS is....

  They change the generation teaching...

  They change no blood at all to yes you can take parts of it...

  With all that they could change 1914 to simply the beginning of the 'last days' and no other significance....

  Yet, with all of that in mind, hardcore JWs will still say "The core teachings have always remained the same." Really?

  I guess the only things that would be off limits to changes are - anti-trinity, no immortal soul and no hell fire???

  Is Pacifism Ethical?

  in another thread about things the watchtower got right two posters have expressd agreement with the fact that the wt refuses to take part in war.. i don't want to derail that thrread so what's your thoughts on pacifism?.

  personally i think there are times that killing your enemies is regrettably the lesser of two evils.. .

  Peaceful resolutions are the way to go if possible...

  When they can't be reached then things have to be settled other ways, if that means fighting a war to protect innocent people then so be it.

  I like how LeavingWT put it. The wolves have to be stopped. Some people just can't be reasoned with and they have to learn lessons the hard way, and won't stop unless they are forced to stop

  Sad but true...hey that a good Song name! ;) Now time to dust off the Metallica CD. haha

  aahhh... ya gotta hand it to the wts, they sure know how to mind-control the flock into getting them to follow unquestionably.

  the nov. 25th watchtower is brilliant in encouraging the sheep to be even lesser than they already are!.

  as they admit, "the greek word translated lesser one means someone who is modest, humble, lowly, insignificant, or of little esteem and influence.".

  HELP please! archives of old WT missing?

  i just bumped an old thread, that had each year from 1800's to like 1950's of the wt magazines, the links now say the pages are missing.

  please let them be somewhere else.

  i really need them, it's super important, and something everyone will benefit tremendously from when i'm done!.
