Any reason to Add new GB Members?
by LostGeneration inif you were on the gb, and you wanted to push your own personal agendas and doctrines, wouldn't you want to resist adding any new members.. when there were 10 members, basically each member has 10% control.. now that there are 7 members, each has basically 14% of the vote.. adding more members dilutes your power.
and if you truly believe the "overlapping" doctrine, there isn't really a valid reason to add anyone else, if the overlapping is applied to gb 1.0 and 2.0 only.. if another one dies, then basically you only need 4 votes to top the other two votes, that is pretty small power center, only four men.. will be interesting to see if they wait a while to add anyone else.. .

No reason to appoint they aren't the ones controlling the org anyway. Although they might add a couple of boys to the body to maintain appearances as the number of anointed continue to rise. The legal and service Dept's probably are vetting a couple of guys now, but want to make sure they are controllable/ or stupidly gullible, before they are appointed.

Do you feel that something has changed within God's organization? Have you noticed that in the past several years there has been a more authoritarian spirit displayed in the publications and from the platform? I have too. I am in the beginning stages of a fade away and wanted to express my thoughts. Maybe you agree or maybe you don't, that's ok. These are the things that have made me see that what I devoted my life to has been false. I have served as a Pioneer, MS and Elder for many years and now see that what I have taught, believed, and supported has been less than the truth. There have been alarm bells ringing in my head for years but the recent changes organizationally and doctrinally have made me consider the following facts.
As Witnesses we were taught that Armageddon is going to be here any moment and is imminent. The direction from the Holy spirit said that the end was going to come in 1914, 1925,1975, Before the end of the twentieth century, and you would never grow old or fulfill any career. It didn't happen. "Imminent" and "soon" has stretched on for over 100 years.
We were taught that there would be few anointed left when the end came and that the number will decrease as the end drew near. The number of anointed is increasing.
We are taught that field service is a life saving work that must be performed with a sense of urgency. So far not one persons life has been saved, and even though it is "urgent" the antiquated method of calling on empty houses is used as the primary way of trying to reach people. Television, internet, email, postal service, social networking are not used even though the the effectiveness of these methods are proven.
We are taught that the light gets brighter as Jehovah blesses his servants with Holy spirit and increased understanding. Is Jehovah responsible for flip flopping doctrines such as the generation of Matt. 24:34, organ transplants, Blood transfusions, the superior authorities etc. or is it men who claim to be inspired? If it were from Jehovah don't you think he would have gotten it right the first time? Despite these changes each time credit/blame is given to Jehovah. You can't trust what you read in the publications, because it might change soon.
We are taught that we live in a spiritual paradise and associate with the safest group of people on earth. Despite this claim it is likely that in your congregation there is a child molester that you don't know about. Your elders are given instructions in some cases not to tell the authorities or to warn the congregation. The organization has tried in the past to sweep the problem under the rug, and continues to do so. Is this in harmony with God's qualities of love, justice, or wisdom?
Did you know that disfellowshipping as practiced within the organization, cannot be found in the scriptures? Would Jesus have treated sinners the way that we as Witnesses treat sinners?
Despite the claim that all policies and instructions to elders are based on the scriptures, there is a book that only the elders have been given that has many congregational rules and policies not based on the scriptures. You are not allowed to look at it unless you are an elder.
We are taught that the United Nations organization is the wild beast described in Revelation and is one of the organizations controlled by Satan. Despite this, the Watchtower Society was partners of the UN for a number of years as a Non-Governmental Organization.
Even though the "truth" changes, if you believe something other than what is published as the latest light (right or wrong) you can be disfellowshipped.
1914 cannot be proved by scripture as the end of the Gentile times. No one other than the Witnesses believe that Jerusalem was destroyed in 607 BCE. Brother Russell used the Great Pyramid of Giza's measurements to corroborate 1914 as the end of the Gentile times. The calculation arbitrarily uses a lunar year of 360 days to come to a date based on a solar year of 365.25 days.
Even though we are taught repeatedly that world conditions are deteriorating in fulfillment of Matt. 24.............Earthquakes are not increasing in frequency according to the USGS. Crime rates have dropped dramatically according to the Department of Justice. The life span of mankind has risen dramatically since 1914 as pestilence is treated, controlled, or eradicated according to the Department of Health. Food shortages are decreasing. Wars are not increasing.
Even though you pray through Jesus to Jehovah, Jesus is not your mediator. This is despite what the Bible says at 1 Tim. 2:5,6.
I urge any lurkers to verify the things that I have said. Use secular sources, look up things on the internet, ask your elders if these things are true, write the branch. If this is in fact the truth as you have been taught your whole life, the questions and comments I mention above should be proved as false. I wish you the best as you continue to examine your faith.

I think if this got into the hands of a Judge who was hearing the case, that the sincerity and truthfulness of the Society, the parents, and the HLC is really called into question (understatement of the year). It is a case of the Society giving disingenuous instructions. If the instructions were only for the HLC they would have been sent directly to the members of the HLC instead of the entire group of elders in the organization.
I wonder if this will be published in Bulgaria?

KM (Elder School) Brief Highlights
by XBEHERE inbesides the usual drivel there were a couple interesting things.
1. an entire 1 hour discourse on helping our children become little innocent martyrs for the wt via.
their flawed and unreasonable blood doctrine.

Facebook is the devil. They are concerned because so many families are using it to communicate with DFed family members thus undermining the DF arrangement. Also there have been BIG parties across several states/ districts that have resulted in JC meetings. Once the investigations begin, the kids go to facebook and everyone is tipped off that there is a witchhunt in progress. This makes the investigations very hard when a lot of people have the same knowledge.

Doubting Bro,
I agree that they are subjective questions. Generally after the KM schools there is a letter of review that comes to the BOE. The policy letter will give direction on how to consistently apply the direction given. It is not an automatic that you will be removed as an elder if your kid goes to college, but the review of qualifications will lean that direction. For example a review of an elders qualifications only happens when there has been wrongdoing, weakness, or a lapse in judgment as defined by the GB. The review is motivated by a negative event or action.
Hope this helps

Other quotes notes from the school:
"No time in history have we had so many problems in the congregations"
"Keep your life simple" - "spiritual men enjoy a simple life" we have had good counsel to sell homes, limit expensive recreation, cut off television.
"meeting attendance is an issue even within the body of appointed men"
"How parents safeguard children from misuse of blood"- The printout was reviewed. One interesting comment was- parents if possible should choose good health insurance for their families. Some bloodless treatments are not covered by some policies. (is this contradictory or what? Simplify your life, don't get educated, but somehow make sure you get the most expensive health insurance?)
Pornography is a plague even within the organization
Strong counsel not to allow DF family members back into the home. Facebook association is the same as regular association and should not be used to circumvent the direction from the FDS.
"The governing body knows that you as appointed men are under a lot of pressure"

" Pursue Divine Education"was the talk. Some key points are:
Ask yourself the question, "am I secretly hoping to prove wrong the warnings that have been given regarding Higher education?"
Am I trusting in Jesus words at Matt. 6:33? Manna was a not just a gift of food to the Israelites it was a lesson that God will take care of any need that we have. Higher education such as a college or university education has no value, it's expensive, and a sign of a lack of faith in Jehovah if you encourage your children to pursue. Look at Baruch's example and how he was seeking great things for himself. Printed Experience from a "brother" who went to college. He said, "I am incredibly sad that I wasted those years in college" College is a snake pit.
If an appointed man's children attend college, or if he encourages higher education his qualifications would automatically be reviewed by the entire BOE using the following questions. It is likely that he would no longer qualify for the privilege of service.
1. Does he show by his example that he is putting the Kingdom 1st?
2. Does he teach his family to put the Kingdom 1st?
3. Does he respect and obey what has been published by the FDS?
4. Do his speech and conduct reveal that he is a spiritual person?
5. How is this decision or attitude viewed by the congregation?
6. Why is his child pursuing higher learning?
7. Does his Family have theocratic goals?
8. Does this pursuit of learning push out meetings and service?
I am missing the last two questions.... does anyone else have them?
One point that was made was that once a child goes to college that many of them if not most, stop being active witnesses. This has got the branch on the defensive. I couldn't believe how negatively higher education was portrayed.

DB, No there wasn't an encourage former servants to reach out part. The part really emphasized taking a young man under your wing and becoming a mentor. I think that the Branch might feel that the men who served in the past might be more of a liablilty than asset.

"Encourage young men to reach out" was the title of another talk.
Sitting in the auditorium you could see it was needed.
Of all in attendance:
10% - age 30-40
10% age 40-50
30% age 50-60
30% age 60-70
20% age 70+
That means that if my area is a typical cross section of the Org- that 80% of all elders are over 50 years of age, and that 50% are over 60 years old. They have no succession plan, and they know it.
