the watch tower society, the christian congregation of jehovah's witnesses, the faithful and discreet slave, and the governing body of jehovah's witnesses, last week issued a "special" letter to all bodies of elders in the state of victoria instructing them to immediately apply for their working with children licenses and to comply with child protection laws.
the letter includes instructions that the contents are not to be made public or shared with members of the congregation.. .
this means an investigation authorized by the governing body of jehovah's witnesses and initiated by lawyers representing the watch tower bible and tract society of pennsylvania, inc. have concluded that the victorian working with children act 2005 and the associated child protection laws do indeed apply to all elders serving in congregations throughout the state of victoria both in the public ministry and in their internal ministry, which includes the theocratic ministry school.. .
Would the letter to the BOE be available during the discovery process of the court case? It seems to me that if the publishers were to see this "top secret" direction from the branch that it would case quite a few to wonder about why the organization refused to comply for years and then suddenly reversed course in secret. What a bunch of jackwagons.

Man I hope that the papers pick this up.

Hey Len, the link to the essay is dead.
i always cringed so hard when a "brother" or "sister" would make some overly heartfelt comment about jehovah-something, usually related to a personal experience of theirs, and get all teared up and/or start crying.. once this fringe dude that's been df'd twice now was giving a talk and kept having these long awkward pauses where he looked like he was real stressed out, then he would start up again, stutter, slip up, and repeat the process until he looked down and went "i, i just can't do this" and walked off the stage and left the hall.. it also made my spchincter pucker when a young person would give some super devotional comment on how much they love big j and whatnot, which would make the congregation all smile in their hearts and wag their heads in approval..
There was this one kid who was 3 or so who would scream, "please don't hurt me" and "help me" as he was dragged out of the hall for the inevitable beating. I am happy to say that he is now a well adjusted young man who is not a witness.

hi everyone.
as a parting gift to you all before i take a much needed break from this forum, i thought you would be pleased to know that the independent, a leading uk newspaper, will be publishing a piece on the "mentally diseased" watchtower article in tomorrow's edition.. i would like to thank everybody who has assisted the journalist, jerome taylor, in his investigation.. best wishes to all of you,.
cedars.
I want to also thank you cedars. You made a huge splash in the watchtowers small pond. Great work mate.
since leaving the organization 8 years ago, there have been more significant changes in the actual, physical activities of the organization than occurred in all the 40 plus years i was 'in'.
bethel closings.
bethel layoffs.
I do. It feels as if the wheels are coming off of the bus. Breakfast of Champions had a good observation about their business model. They have stale eschatology that has repeatedly proven to be false, an outdated business model focused on print publications, legal challenges due to shunning and coverup of abuse, bad press, and a mass of follwers that are going through the motions. To top it all off the younger generation as evidenced by the pew study is running for the door. Most of the leadership is elderly and quickly dieing off, the younger ones that are coming up the ranks are purposely blind. Their main method of recruitment is laughably obsolete and ineffective. Most people have to work to earn a living in this economy which means that the availablity of free door to door labor is reduced.
In no way is this a healthy organization.
police minister peter ryan has written a letter to mr unthank advising that jw's are now applying, in mass, for the wwc in victoria.
to little to late.
criminal charges still stand and cannot be backdated!
If they are not volunteers for the society, why do they submit time reports to the branch each month? Just like an employee timecard.

Didn't Gayle mention that the reporter in Victoria was going to do an update on this story?
