YES!!!!! I always hated to talk to people I didn't know about things I cared nothing about, but unfortunately my father LOVED it. He always said if mom went first, he would enter the circuit work. I have awful memories of being forced to go on Saturday mornings and not daring to complain out of fear of my father's wrath. The threat of a beating always hung over my head if I refused to go. I had to pretend to like it like he did. He never understood why I didn't like it and my mother never said anything in my defense. Funny, now that he's dead she doesn't go out in FS as much as she used to. I think she secretly didn't like to go out as much as he did but went along to keep peace in the family. What a waste of years, pretending to like FS to fit in with the congo's idea of an elder's perfect family and wife. It makes me sick!!

"Fancy Dress" and large social gatherings are banned in our Halls! Why?
by Witness 007 inyes we hosted the ultimate "fancy dress" party.
some did come as cowboys with guns {cringe} pirates with swords {cringe} and a male servant/pioneer came as a female balerina {oh my god nearly got deleted!
} but what's the big deal!

Because everyone's supposed to be mindless robots instead of living, breathing human beings with joy and happiness inside of them. We had 'gatherings' (not called parties) but were supposed to be very mindful of how we danced and what we drank and what we talked about. Some were fun; some weren't. There was one 'sister' who always made an effort to make things fun for us teenagers. She knew how to give some great parties and was always a great host. The elders finally got after her and she gave up, but not before she ( I heard) gave them a good dressing down. She left the dubs and I don't blame her. She did nothing wrong...M- - - i, if you're reading this, thank you for all you did for us. We thought you were absolutely wonderful and you made our lives a little less boring.
I also remember another JW party that was a costume party, and one kid was made up in blackface and dressed like Aunt Jemima. Talk about your nice Christian hypocrite(s)...
