Where are they now? - Paul Illingworth
by Black Man inanyone know whatever happened to former do paul illingworth?
he was teaching mts school for many years, but heard that he got out of the do work (before they got rid of the arrangement).
he was super intelligent and one of the "nicer" company men that i came across during my time in the borg.

Love Paul Illingworth when he served as a DO in New England. He seemed practical and down to earth. He sure loved his toys...had lots of expensive stuff for a DO. Wonder what happened to him...my husband and I lost touch with him around 2007. -

Strange Moment During The 2015 Regional Convention
by JW_Rogue inhi, i'm new here but hadn't seen this mentioned anywhere yet.
during the "imitate jesus" rc there was a strange moment where they played a video of a brother trying to explain the 1914 teaching.
the brother quickly goes through all the scriptural "proofs" and the householder is dumbfounded.

When I viewed that video my first thought was MOST in attendance did not have a grasp of 607 BCE and 1914. If anything that video may stir up people to research and figure out the WT's dates are incorrect. -

Tsongas Center Lowell MA, Sunday Session of the Regional Convention 2015
by oppostate inwe're breaking up the regional convention event by going each of the days to a different weekend session.. the tsongas center lowell ma was a bit hard to find, we got lost and got there after the first song and prayer (just in time for the first talk)!
we ran into so many from our home congregation who aren't even assigned to this rc!.
i think it's quite common for publishers now to break up the convention weekend and attend at times when their congregation isn't assigned.. some families (3) were attending this particular convention so as to meet up with family members who are in another part of the region.

There were 7 baptized and the peak attendance was approximately 3,300 this past weekend at the Tsongas Center in Lowell, MA.

Anyone remember this former C.O.: Kevin Wright?
by Olin Moyles Ghost induring the early 2000s, kevin wright was the c.o.
for a circuit that included several of my friends.
i remember hearing my friends complain about what a tool this guy was--and these complainers weren't just "lowly" publishers--some of them were elders and pioneers.

Can anyone disprove 607 BCE date using only the NWT and WT literature?
by Bart Belteshassur ini haven't come across any arguement that does not involve secular history and external references.
in fact the wt can not get to 607 bce without using external sources as in knowing that they need to get back from 1914 ce to 607 bce, and botching an argument using an external date as reference to create their start point at 537 bce.. i realize that to get the final date we must provide a fixed figure from somewhere which can only be a historical source, but the objective would be to disprove the wt flim flam.
once that is achieve we can use which ever fixed historical point they wish to chose.

All appointed men are being told they have to pioneer now!
by stuckinarut2 inyes, you read correctly..... all appointed men have been told in a new letter that they have to pioneer to "set the lead" whenever there is a "special" campaign month.
they use some scripture saying that these ones have to show by example.... so for any of us who are appointed and have learned ttatt, it is going to be very hard to fade during this time!.

Maybe that's what some are saying but NO way are those directions being stated in my congregation and surrounding ones, I know for a fact. They are "encouraged" but they will not be removed if they don't pioneer. Everyone has different circumstances.

COBE cannot be 80 or more
by fader77 ina new letter no longer allows an elder to be cobe if hes 80 or more.
-
CuriousButterfly
I may have missed a comment here about...if the COBE needs to step down when they turn 80 the GB you set the example. If anything they hold MUCH more responsibility than a COBE.

Disturbing Footnote in Tomorrow's Study Article...
by HeyThere inarticle is basicqlly about families where a spouse is working away from home for an extended period, etc...a foot note says basically that some studies have shown that working away from home can cause serious consequences, such as infidelity, homosexuality, or incest.
.
pull it up on jw.org...that is what it says.

The study article did say that and during the study I thought so your kid is going to be a homosexual if you're not at home?! If ANYONE actually believes this they're off their rocker.

2014 summer conventions to have live video and audio feeds
by dropoffyourkeylee ini have heard from reliable source that this summer's conventions will feature video of various gb members as they speak and announce releases.
the regional (as opposed to the international conventions) will have numerous video monitors all around.
anyone else heard about this?.
-
CuriousButterfly
It's def true. I know that our Regional (east coast) will tie into Indianapolis during special parts of the convention. The IT/Video depts are nervous since the branch still has not got a handle on the live feed. With 3 weeks to go as of last weekend there were still items that needed to be addressed. Should be interesting.

CONGREGATION FLEECING RESULTS?
by The Searcher inhow much did your congregation and its bank account get taken for?

I know of one congregation that has around $200K saved for a renovation. We were told by a few elders in the KH that they are going to spend the money for costs to repair that should not have a complete RBC overhaul. If I was in the KH I would be upset donating all the money and then the WT take it away.
