I believe I own six pairs of shoes - one pair of sneakers, two pairs of sandals, one pair of 'night out' shoes, one pair of work shoes, and one pair of hikers. My tough biker hubbie owns more shoes than I do.

one of terrys recent threads reminded me of something i thought about during my awakening from the jw untruth.
it is something that now to me seems very illogical in the adam and eve story.
Terry - You don't have to believe in spiritual things, but you do need to acknowledge that Jesus and the people He spoke to did. If not, you're going to miss the messages that they were trying to relay, and they did speak about spiritual death. Couple examples,
'Jesus said, 'Follow me and let the dead bury their own dead.' Matthew 8:22 (He wasn't talking about zombies burying their dead)
'As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world...' Ephesians 2:1 (these people weren't physically dead, but spiritually, and this was Paul speaking)
And spiritual life:
'I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live (spiritual life), even though he dies (physical death); and whoever lives (physical/spiritual life) and believes in me will never die(spiritual death)..." John 11:25-26
Someone might have a different take on that sentence than I do, but the gist is that spiritual life/death is a part of Jesus teachings. If you can understand this, you'll be able to make sense of other passages.
And for those who do understand what a spiritual death is, "you shall surely DIE" is more meaningful with Adam if it is spiritual.

please note that this list is intended to apply to the fundies alone.
not to all nonbelievers.
so let's turn the mirror and grab some popcorn:.
I thought this was cute, even though I also know atheists who fit a few of BTS's points.
I never got offended from the fundie Christian top ten, because it didn't apply to me. I didn't even answer it; though sometimes the implication is that every Christian holds to some of those points. Which is just as generalizing as BTS is being here, but I kind of thought he was trying to make that point as well as 'all fundamentalists have the same attitude, regardless of belief or faith'.

I waitress for 8.80 an hour. Minimum wage in Alberta. My tips bring me up to between $25-35 an hour, but I only work a few hours over lunch while the kids are in school.
Hubby makes 40 an hour plus overtime as a welder. If he works all year, he brings in 120K. Last year, he was laid off a lot, which meant hard times. But we're finally getting back on our feet.

initial analysis of the times square bombing attempt.
and so it is with target new york.
it is entirely possible, nay likely, that the recent times square car bomb was placed at the doorstep of the viacom building's main northeast entrance because of the south park controversy.
Well look at that. We appear to be on the same side of an issue. What's next, cats and dogs living together? ;)
Cats and dogs do live together. Sheesh! Do your research.

i have been watching the discovery channel's, 'into the universe with stephen hawking' and it occurred to me that professor hawking knows more about heaven (which is just part of entire universe) than jesus did.
maybe jesus knew about black holes, alien life, other worlds, the origin of the universe, etc.
jesus could have told us something so remarkable about our universe that it would have taken us 2000 years to confirm jesus' divine knowledge and prove he was the son of g-d, but he instead decided to tell us that heaven "has many rooms"- whoop-dee-doo.. i don't think jesus had a clue that there was anything out the in the physical universe beyond what he could see with his own eyes.
NVL - Thanks for explaining it to me :-)

I understand the anger and fear and distrust toward the Islamic extremists/terrorists. I do not understand the ease in which most people are willing to lump every muslim into that category, out of fear or anger. Does this not mean that the innocent are being condemned with the guilty? Or at least being treated as if they are guilty?

or you're getting married to a jewish woman who's family won't let her get away with marrying a gentile.
Good point. Never considered that. So is being Jewish as much a nation thing, as a religious thing?

The guy on top is showing a bit more than just his butt, I think.

A common misconception is that being jewish implies a certain beleif system - NVL.
You're right, and I had thought being Jewish implied a certain belief system until I read your response about being Jewish by birth on another thread. But I thought Moshe believed in God since he went from JW to Jewish. (Moshe was a baptist in there too, I think)
