what is munchausen by proxy syndrome?.
one of the most harmful forms of child abuse, munchausen by proxy syndrome was named after baron von munchausen, an eighteenth-century german dignitary known for telling outlandish stories.
a parent will induce illness or injury in their own child and then take the victim in to the hospital to be seen as the heroic savior.. typically, the perpetrator feels satisfied when he or she has the attention and sympathy of doctors, nurses, and others who come into contact with him or her and the child.. because the parent or caregiver appears to be so caring and attentive, often no one suspects any wrongdoing.. .
Sphere - I reread your posts, and I don't think I misunderstood the meaning of this thread. God gave us the illness, and then he gives us the cure so we can love him.
I just disagree. I think we separate ourselves from God by our sins, and He has given us the cure (grace and forgiveness) to that. (to our own shameful and guilty consciences)
And I don't always know what other Christians believe or have taught, so I apologize if I am repeating something you have heard a hundred times over.

Cult Classic and Blue Canary- I'm not sure that I believe in this whole inherited sin. People misinterpret scriptures all the time. From my personal experience, the only wedge I have ever had between God and I is an internal wedge - put there when I am ashamed of something I have done. If I didn't believe that I could be reconciled to God through Jesus at these times, then I would have spiritual death.
Sin might have entered the world when Adam sinned, because there was no sin before it - but we have all continued of our own choices to sin since then.

i have been watching the discovery channel's, 'into the universe with stephen hawking' and it occurred to me that professor hawking knows more about heaven (which is just part of entire universe) than jesus did.
maybe jesus knew about black holes, alien life, other worlds, the origin of the universe, etc.
jesus could have told us something so remarkable about our universe that it would have taken us 2000 years to confirm jesus' divine knowledge and prove he was the son of g-d, but he instead decided to tell us that heaven "has many rooms"- whoop-dee-doo.. i don't think jesus had a clue that there was anything out the in the physical universe beyond what he could see with his own eyes.
I don't know what your definition of killed is but I always figured it was permanent, not parts of 3 days and then you are up and around talking smack.
Okay then. How about:
Jesus, on the other hand was tortured, whipped, arrested, beaten, spit upon, mocked, condemned to death, abandoned by his people, nailed to and hung on a cross, in part for his refusal to engage in violence in his own defense. What's more, he asked for forgiveness for his tormenters who mocked him as he was dying.
Does that make any difference when speaking about Jesus' character?

I didn't eat any forbidden fruit, what do I have to fess up to?
You've never done anything that goes against Jesus' teaching? Nothing?
Then I guess I'm not speaking to you.
But I sure have. Thankfully, faith in Jesus gives me confidence that my sins are forgiven, and I can go to God despite the wedge that I sometimes put between us.

may you have peace!.
the most holy one of israel, jah of armies, has heard your questions and your accusations regarding him.
his word to you, however, is that you have not heard his questions to you.
NVL - If you're sincere, then I hope you find the answers you need to have peace. (if you are looking for that)
If you're not sincere, then I hope you're speaking with Shelby with the understanding that she IS sincere, and is trying to help you.

I don't think you're being unclear in any way. I just wanted you to know that I can hear what you are saying, and express my appreciation of your posts. I sent you a pm.

The result of sin is death. Adam sinned, and then he hid from God. There was a wedge between them that hadn't been there before, and that wedge is spiritual death.
Putting that into perspective today: Say you've done something wrong to your spouse or parent or any loved one; there is then a wedge between you (guilty conscience, fear of being caught, etc). To remove that wedge, you usually have to fess up and hope for forgiveness from the wronged party. This is the wedge between God and mankind -because we all continue to do things against his instruction. But instead of leaving us to our separation from God, God is reconciling us to Him through Jesus.
Giving us life (spiritual) as a free gift that covers over our sins - (of which the result is a spiritual separation from God - death).

Jesus seemed far more concerned about our spiritual life/death. Not about black holes and alien life forms.
We can make scientific discoveries on our own, and that exploration can be exhilarating. But Jesus spoke about what he knew, which was the spiritual life and the Father -creator of the universe. As far as I know, Stephen Hawking isn't claiming authority or knowledge over that realm.
Anyway, why should this generation deserve proof; such as Jesus should have told people in the past something about the universe that we can only confirm now - that's proof for us (though there would still be plenty of skeptics), but what about all the people from then 'till now? They don't mean anything?
Jesus knew what he was doing... and there are plenty of people with faith from each generation, and without that kind of proof.
