Hello, and welcome! I look forward to hearing more from you and yours.

there are times - or will come times - in our lives when things happen that are so horrible they are beyond belief.. after going through such trials, we are never the same again.. our whole outlook, how we view or respond to certain situations, how we interact with others, is impacted.. these things can make us or break us.. somehow, though, the majority of us make it.. my thanks and kudos to those who help us make it!
.
sylvia.
I can only imagine how your perspective has changed in regards to how others acted during your loss.
It's good for us to remember all those who have helped us through terrible times, and the fact that you can do this shows that you are one of those people who makes it.

to take a stand for true worship, we need to have a viewpoint like that of the prophet isaiah, who told true worshipers: touch nothing unclean.isaiah 52:11.. .
jehovah's witnesses are preoccupied with religious "cleanliness" and "purity" of worship.
at least, that's what they say.. for example, jw's aren't permitted to engage in many commonly observed holidays because of connections to pagan false worship.. christmas, easter, thanksgiving are no-no's!

Terry! We are in agreement!

i have been watching the discovery channel's, 'into the universe with stephen hawking' and it occurred to me that professor hawking knows more about heaven (which is just part of entire universe) than jesus did.
maybe jesus knew about black holes, alien life, other worlds, the origin of the universe, etc.
jesus could have told us something so remarkable about our universe that it would have taken us 2000 years to confirm jesus' divine knowledge and prove he was the son of g-d, but he instead decided to tell us that heaven "has many rooms"- whoop-dee-doo.. i don't think jesus had a clue that there was anything out the in the physical universe beyond what he could see with his own eyes.
Sorry, NVL, missed your comment: What generation is THIS generation? Which generation would deserve proof?
I had said - Anyway, why should this generation deserve proof; such as Jesus should have told people in the past something about the universe that we can only confirm now...
But I said this in response to: Jesus could have told us something so remarkable about our universe that it would have taken us 2000 years to confirm Jesus' divine knowledge and prove he was the son of G-d. - Moshe
Basically, I was asking the same question you did. Why should this generation deserve proof over any other generation? There is nothing about us that makes us any more or less special than any generation that came before.
As for what generation this generation is: I consider generation to be every living person today.

I also can't add much to the advice above. But you most certainly can be spiritual without being religious. I am spiritual, and not religious. Spiritual in that I believe in Jesus and God, and try to mirror my life after the things Jesus taught. My relationship with him is personal, and sincere, and I treasure it.

what is munchausen by proxy syndrome?.
one of the most harmful forms of child abuse, munchausen by proxy syndrome was named after baron von munchausen, an eighteenth-century german dignitary known for telling outlandish stories.
a parent will induce illness or injury in their own child and then take the victim in to the hospital to be seen as the heroic savior.. typically, the perpetrator feels satisfied when he or she has the attention and sympathy of doctors, nurses, and others who come into contact with him or her and the child.. because the parent or caregiver appears to be so caring and attentive, often no one suspects any wrongdoing.. .
Sorry I couldn't communicate it better, Cult, but thanks for trying to understand me.
If I knew that I had never sinned against God or even against another person, and that God was just punishing me for things that someone else did thousands of years ago, then I might feel justified in railing against Him. But I know I sin... I take full responsibility without thinking that God is making me... and so this Munchausen Syndrome is moot, at least for me.

You are admiting he gave us the illness - Sphere.
I didn't actually admit that. I admitted that I understood that this is what the thread is about, but that I disagreed.
Cult - I don't have all these answers, and the ones I give are personal. I can only speak on what I understand from my faith, reading and experience. We get this 'wedge' (separation from God which is spiritual death) as soon as and every time we knowingly sin against God. The wedge comes because of our conscience, our shame, and we 'hide' as Adam did from God (separate ourselves from God) because of this. The cure is offered by the grace and forgiveness that God offered through belief in Jesus.
Believing in Jesus gives a person the confidence to know that their sin is forgiven, because Jesus taught it. So we can have confidence in that; and do not need to 'hide' because of our shame.

just a heads up, this thread will contain some personal ramblings and my plans for the future.
if you're not interested, don't waste your time reading it.. .
as many of you know, i've been in law school for the last 2 1/2 years, and have 1 semester left to complete that degree.
I would advise you to finish because you have come so far, and there might be other applications that you could use the degree for. Then do what you want afterward. Finishing something is a huge milestone in itself, and you seem so close to attaining this.
But ultimately, you are the one who knows yourself.
