Do JW's cherry-pick what to find offensive? Is it hypocricy?

To take a stand for true worship, we need to have a viewpoint like that of the prophet Isaiah, who told true worshipers: “Touch nothing unclean.”Isaiah 52:11.

Jehovah's Witnesses are preoccupied with religious "cleanliness" and "purity" of worship. At least, that's what they say.

For example, JW's aren't permitted to engage in many commonly observed holidays because of connections to pagan false worship.

Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving are no-no's! While other Christians warmly embrace and honor God in celebrations the Witnesses cluck their

tongues and shake their heads in disdain.

They are constantly preoccupied with True Worship...PURE worship....

    Or, are they?

Don't Jehovah's Witnesses pick and choose what they are going to find offensive rather than simply removing every pagan false religious

    connection from their daily lives?

Aren't they haphazard and selective about what is "Pure" and what is to be avoided?

Take the common daily calendar, for example.

The Jehovah's Witnesses are quite aware of the pagan false religious gods saturating that instrument of daily use.

They have known since the early days of the Society at Bethel when it was clearly brought to the attention of the president of the Watchtower

Society by one of the board members in a personal letter.

Was President Rutherford grateful for this information? Did he communicate it to the brothers and sisters around the world?

No! Even though the letter was a private and personal communication, Judge Rutherford publicly humiliated the writer in front of the brothers and

sisters working at Bethel! Was Rutherford embarassed he had missed this connection himself?

Wouldn't the concern over pagan religious influence that had obviously affected Christmas, Easter and Halloween apply to anything and everything

else polluted by false pagan connections?

    Yes!

    Luke 16:10: New Living Translation(©2007)
"If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won't be honest with greater responsibilities.

The Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses does claim for themselves greater responsibilty as a Faithful and Discreet "slave" in charge of their Master's true followers.

Yet, a brief look at the history of this religious group refutes that claim instantaneously.

Attorney Olin Moyle in his letter of resignation from the Brooklyn Headquarters wrote a personal letter to President J.F.Rutherford. In this letter

he indicates how astonished and disappointed the workers at Bethel were at Rutherford's treatment of one C.J. Woodworth.

What was Woodworth's "crime"? Woodworth had urgently informed Judge Rutherford how inconsistent it was to RETAIN false pagan

worship in one area of their lives while loudly rejecting it in other areas.

    His letter reads in part:

Shortly after coming to Bethel we were shocked to witness the spectacle of our brethren receiving what is designated as a "trimming" from you. The first, if memory serves me correct, was a tongue lashing given to C. J. Woodworth. Woodworth in a personal letter to you stated something to the effect that it would be serving the devil to continue using our present day calendar. For that he was humiliated, called a jackass, and given a public lambasting.

In what way was it "serving the devil" to continue using a calendar? Woodworth was aware of the connection of the names of the days of the

week (and month) with satanic worship of pagan gods!

    Sunday -- Sun's day
    Monday -- Moon's day
    Tuesday -- Tiu's day
    Wednesday -- Woden's day
    Thursday -- Thor's day
    Friday -- Freya's day
    Saturday -- Saturn's day

    The Naming of the Days

The Greeks named the days week after the sun, the moon and the five known planets, which were in turn named after the gods Ares, Hermes, Zeus, Aphrodite, and Cronus. The Greeks called the days of the week the Theon hemerai "days of the Gods". The Romans substituted their equivalent gods for the Greek gods, Mars, Mercury, Jove (Jupiter), Venus, and Saturn. (The two pantheons are very similar.) The Germanic peoples generally substituted roughly similar gods for the Roman gods, Tiu (Twia), Woden, Thor, Freya (Fria), but did not substitute Saturn.

    marked...

I believe it is hypocrisy on their part and is the reason why I won't become a witness even if deep down they are just normal people trying to live a good life like everyone else.

Even the use of currency is "filthy" with mystical symbology. Surely a clean and pure worshipping religion like Jehovah's Witnesses would squirm at ever being caught possessing one of these instruments on their person!

    Religious use of the Eye

Imagery of an all-seeing eye can be traced back to Egyptian mythology and the Eye of Horus. It also appears in Buddhism, where Buddha is also regularly referred to as the "Eye of the World" throughout Buddhist scriptures (e.g. Mahaparinibbana Sutta) and is represented as a trinity in the shape of a triangle known as the Tiratna, or Triple Gem.

Why do I raise this issue of INCONSISTENCY?

Jehovah's Witnesses can be refuted easily by simply using their own reasoning against them!

Okay, you say you are concerned with pure worship? With pagan influence?

    WHAT ABOUT THIS?

    Watchtower:

Suppose you saw a piece of candy lying in the gutter. Would you pick up that candy and eat it? Of course not! That candy is unclean. Like that candy, holidays may seem sweet, but they have been picked up from unclean places. To take a stand for true worship, we need to have a viewpoint like that of the prophet Isaiah, who told true worshipers: “Touch nothing unclean.”—Isaiah 52:11.

Good example, but the calendar matter wasn't private AFAIK, Woodworth published two lengthy articles on the subject in the Golden Age, proposing a substitute calendar centered around Jehovah.
