I thought it was freaky. Thanks Baba, for showing us how to put it into perspective.

okay, my odometer has one one too many, but i couldn't find one with 11,111..
For some reason, I totally missed what this thread was about. I was racking my brain, trying to figure out what the significance of 11,111 could be.

by the fact that in under one day we have 2 new members on the board, hadit and thor.
that people are leaving that nutty religion and doing so in a rather public manner is a wonderful thing so far as i am concerned.
if you two happen to read this, hadit and thor, please know that seeing you here has made my day!.
Ambersun is a third from today.

i have been watching the discovery channel's, 'into the universe with stephen hawking' and it occurred to me that professor hawking knows more about heaven (which is just part of entire universe) than jesus did.
maybe jesus knew about black holes, alien life, other worlds, the origin of the universe, etc.
jesus could have told us something so remarkable about our universe that it would have taken us 2000 years to confirm jesus' divine knowledge and prove he was the son of g-d, but he instead decided to tell us that heaven "has many rooms"- whoop-dee-doo.. i don't think jesus had a clue that there was anything out the in the physical universe beyond what he could see with his own eyes.
But Moshe, if you're Jewish, doesn't that mean you believe in God? If so, where is your real proof about Him?

Mouthy, I love your story!
And I'm so glad you're moving to a better place, one that suits YOU.
You didn't sound happy at this one.

NAC - I don't think you have any reason to regret posting. You've certainly not said anything false. You're searching, and expressing your thoughts as you learn. I do this as well, and I like knowing someone else is doing the same. I enjoy hearing about your observations. I enjoy hearing anything that anyone thinks when they're thinking for themselves!
The love of Jesus compels me more than any of these stories also. Yet, I still find searching for and discussing the meaning of some of them interesting and worthwhile.

one of terrys recent threads reminded me of something i thought about during my awakening from the jw untruth.
it is something that now to me seems very illogical in the adam and eve story.
Welcome, Ambersun!
I think we are looking at this account wrong. I look at it as a metaphor, but the lesson is the same, so it really doesn't matter.
First, death came as a result of eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. (They were not denied knowledge of anything else.) Death was not the punishment; it was the result. Sort of like (and this is a lame example, but its the best I'm capable of at the moment) if you eat all that candy, you're going to be sick.
I also look at this death as a spiritual death and not physical. Adam lived 930 years. Most people would consider that a gift, and if physical death was a punishment or even a result of his sin, it likely occurred too many years later to be effective. But the death that came to Adam immediately was his spiritual death. Spiritual death meaning separation from God, in my opinion. I think it is important to note that Adam hid from God. That separation was self-inflicted, and God had warned him against it.
There was no going back to the way things had been, no matter how much counsel or time-outs, because Adam and Eve could not unlearn their knowledge of good and evil.
I don't always explain myself very well, but I thought I'd add my two cents here.

to take a stand for true worship, we need to have a viewpoint like that of the prophet isaiah, who told true worshipers: touch nothing unclean.isaiah 52:11.. .
jehovah's witnesses are preoccupied with religious "cleanliness" and "purity" of worship.
at least, that's what they say.. for example, jw's aren't permitted to engage in many commonly observed holidays because of connections to pagan false worship.. christmas, easter, thanksgiving are no-no's!
At some point, shouldn't that light just explode?
