Well, actually Baltar447,
funny you should mention the women... there's new light afoot about this and guess who's getting to be priviledged to take on more responsibilities? You guessed it... the sisters.
this info is again from the study edition nov 2011 and it's just as looney as the other .

it is our desire that many more men will.

Hey Monkey,
how could you hear the wind in the background if Johnny was in a closet? Must have been some strong wind... or was it a "passing" wind you heard?
*ducking for cover*
i've just read at a spanish forum for ex-jw that the wt has cooked a new light article series about social celebrations, including birthdays and aniversaries.
according to a member of this forum 'in short' the wt will let witnesses to decide by 'their bible trained conscience' either they celebrate birthdays or not.
is this rumor based in some real facts or it's just bullshit?.
Sir82: " seem to recall posts stating that forum predicted radical changes to the DF procedure, elimination of COs, all kinds of sensational claptrap that never came close to being true."
That forum is ExTJ.com and yes some rumors are shared there. The fact that changes to the DF procedure and the eliminationof COs have been discussed in the higher eschelons of the WTS is well attested by some who have connections to these meetings and the information discussed there. Whether something is discussed or not doesn't mean it is definitely going to be implemented.
One rumor that has been brought up at the Spanish forum is the new Bibles that are underway, for which design, the WT brought in a "worldly PR agency" to help out with sprucing up the literature and the image of the WT.
WOULD YOU BELIVE THAT THERE ARE CO'S NOW CARRYING THESE BIBLES AS PROTOTYPES?
They are leather covered in new colors, with not only gold but now... silver edging.
These prototypes are only given out for a six month period and will be claimed back by HQ from the CO's and their wives who now showcase them in the congregations to those who are of the more privileged loyalist inner circle of good dubbies.
If it shows up in the ExTJ.com forum, it's because the forum owners have enough good reason to believe the source.
BTW there are some things which the ExTJ.com forum owners have heard which they've held back from making public knowledge right away for the sake of keeping the identity of the source private.
Belive it or not, time will tell, and sooner or later most things come to light.
it will involve 2 special meetings on oct 22 and oct 29. the meetings will be a. watchtower summary.. a member of the us branch committee will give a report on "progress in the field.".
talk by a visiting zone overseer.
and a talk by the gb.. it will be "approx 2 1/2 hours in length.
Only long time and ultra-loyal Elders and elder-wives, will be invited. Long time Pioneers and elderly faithful Publishers maybe invited also. They expect some may be let down if not invited, but hey they can't invite everyone so the letter says.
Aren't we just so special to have a non-transferable invitation ticket?
Gag indeed!
3 dear friends, although i was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, i felt compelled to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to gods holy people.
4 for certain individuals whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you.
they are ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our god into a license for immorality and deny jesus christ our only sovereign and lord.. 5 though you already know all this, i want to remind you that the lord at one time delivered his people out of egypt, but later destroyed those who did not believe.
Hey Sab,
nice post, this is what I understand about the rocks/blemishes part...
the word for "blemishes" and "reefs" are easily confused in Greek.
The idea is that these ungodly people are like a reef, just under the surface of the water, where if a ship happens to run into it then it crashes and is lost.
The love feasts were occasions where these ungodly people were also like wild waves of the sea foaming up and tossing forth the unclean spume of their debauchery.
It reminds me of a few JW get-togethers where cliques form to spout abusive rumors of others in the congregation and out.
(for the purposes of this post, i want to say that being angry, though a real emotion, is not healthy if it continues to fester inside you.
i think anger is reasonable if it helps you to move on from point a to point b. in addition, because of the real issues anger can bring, if you feel that after many years you are still angry over your jw experience, i strongly encourage therapy.
long term anger is destructive to the individual).
Reading CoC where the Malawi / Mexico information is exposed really did a number on me to open my eyes and it was a sort of epiphany. I did feel angry at the WTS after reading the truth of what was going on then.
Nothing else in CoC made me more angry, though, than the life story of Ed Dunlap and how he was treated. Especially the uncaring attitude of Knorr when Ed Dunlap had a nerve problem requiring surgery, that was so painful and yet they sent him to work where it would act up the worst. That was real abuse. The hierarchy of the WTS are truly exposed for the uncaring task masters they've been over the decades.
i went to the last dc in amherst this summer.. on sunday the symposium part on appreciating the messianinc king's appealing personality.... the part on self-controlled opened up with an illustration that i kid you not repulsed me so much i had to get up and walk about in the concourse, go to the bathroom and splash cold water on my face.. the speaker opened up by saying a man grabbed a pig in a headlock and proceeded to punch its face, over and over as hard as he could.. just visualizing the illustration almost made me throw up.. there was no way i could sit through that talk.. the speaker went on as if the illustration was an excellent example of how some people lack self-control.. how about showing some self-control in choosing illustrations that don't make people cringe or gag, brother?.
was that really in the outline?.
was that illustration used in other dc's?.

On Sunday the symposium part on Appreciating the Messianinc King's Appealing Personality...
The part on Self-Controlled opened up with an illustration that I kid you not repulsed me so much I had to get up and walk about in the concourse, go to the bathroom and splash cold water on my face.
The speaker opened up by saying a man grabbed a pig in a headlock and proceeded to punch its face, over and over as hard as he could.
Just visualizing the illustration almost made me throw up.
There was no way I could sit through that talk.
The speaker went on as if the illustration was an excellent example of how some people lack self-control.
How about showing some self-control in choosing illustrations that don't make people cringe or gag, brother?
Was that really in the outline?
Was that illustration used in other DC's?
What's your reaction?
the sunday drama at the dc was a parallel ancient (joseph in egypt) and modern (jw kid in high school) drama.
or was it extremely eroticized?
i've been seeing these my whole life and have never felt this way.. conversation between joseph and fellow prison inmate:.
Hey Red Piller,
I was at the last DC in Amherst and yes it was embarrassing to hear all the sex talk.
Joseph in our DC was one of the Hilchey boys from Bennington, I've known him since he was an infant.
Potiphars wife--who looks like a model--was actually Joseph's wife in real life.
I don't think another brother would have gotten away with slamming the basket against her breasts otherwise.
On the way back home my wife and I commented on the drama.
I said it was embarrassing to hear young people talk about sex so openly in a DC.
She said that it's because that's the way kids nowadays talk and that's what's going on.
I said back--with eyebrow raised Mr. Spock fashion--is that really the way kids nowadays talk in the Kingdom Hall?
That ended the discussion on the drama.

I read the message at extj.com too, but I'm thinking that the new articles will rather deal with the fact that minor parts of birthday celebrations are ok.
for example:
Frosting by itself is ok.
burning candles and blowing them out is ok.
spongy cake is ok as long as it's twinky shaped.
large portion spongy cake from round, rectangle or square pans not ok especially if cut in wedges.
It's ok to write the word Happy but that's it.
Whole birthday cake partaking is still a matter of conscience as it's always been but means the person consuming it is publicly declaring their disassociation from membership in the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Bulgaria.
