"Theocratic Warfare" and the Annual Report

one of the things i certainly noticed as a jw, and even during the time i was in bethel, was the complexities of reporting "truth.".

beginning with an observation on a personal level, i consider myself an honest person.

but something happened along the way, beginning when i pioneered.

I have known assembly attendants who fudged the seat counts, let alone the time slips from ordinary JWs...

Hah, that is sooo true! I remember the time a DO by the name of Bartell insisted on the attendance figures being too low. He called for another count. The section captains went to their assigned attendants and told them to meet, they were told to count any one and every one in sight, especially babies because sometimes they're on their parents' laps or they're in a carrying seat in the isle and hard to see, and he winked for a lonnnnggg time.

Sure enough the numbers from just about all attendants reflected higher numbers... unfortunately the new count was now way up high, by several hundred.

Gilead School Changes to be read to all Congregations

as of this week, and to be read from a letter to all congregations to coincide with the part on wt education at the service meeting, the announcement will be made that the gilead school will no longer be open to pioneer couples, rather it will become a specialized training school for special pioneers, traveling overseers and their wives, and those the governing body deems worthy of attending.

the gilead school has, since it's beginning, always been held in high esteem by the r&f, and seen as a summit to reach for service minded young jw couples.. could the recent dissentions by 2 gilead graduates who are actively promoting apostate ideas be influencing changes at how the gb sees the role of the gilead school and felt the need to shine this noo-light on its "educational" program?.

seems like another cemented pillar of the wt religion is crumbling as the new gb 2.0 tries to keep the ceiling from coming down.. maybe kool-aid man can devote a conference call to this subject ;-) .

With Ed Dunlap at the helm of Gilead training back in the late 70's we had the then Governing Body crack down on reformists, could they be trying to forestall more dissention by taking the wind out of Gilead School's sails?

How do you see these changes affecting the school and the overall perception of it by the publishers?

BTW Part of the Nazi plan for conquered lands was to make them learn a form of Simplified German (called WeDe for short. Oy, gevalt!).

Hey Shop,

Yes, the new format is more like the simple English version.

If you were at today's WT Study you wouldn't have said that

it would become "an obvious read-and-repeat-what-was-just-

read show"... That's what it already is in practice.

But what matters to the GB is numbers and the numbers are

pointing to more Simple English and less Study WT editions.

It isn't just foreigners and children who are using the simple

English WTs, some publishers are commenting how they

much prefer the simple English to "study" from.

BTW due to the web bug beacon in use at JW.org I'd rather wait for the traceable file to come up again for download when the "Branch" gets its act together.

The new Layout of the WT edition will be more like the Simple English version\

of the WT, as it seems there's been a huge increase in requests from

congregations for the Simple English edition and a reduced need for the

regular study edition.

Can the WT studies really get any more simple minded?

I read CoC back in 2007.

I'm still attending meetings due to having ultra WT loyalist family.

There are a lot of "conscious class" folks on JWN who are still in due to not wanting to be separated from their families, I believe.

no,i am not talking about being "mentally diseased",lol.

it's just wonderful to allow myself to have my own thoughts and opinions.. i'm still around family and some acquaintances who are witnesses.

and i cringe every time i hear a phrase or belief ,that now i realize is totally wacky.. for example: relatives talking about a newly reinstated man's unbelieving wife.

Thanks for your post, EI, it is obvious now for me as I look back on the time spent in "Bible study" as "preparation for baptism" that all it really was accomplishing was the development of a mindset that encouraged submission to the will of a corporate religious publishing company controlled now by a small group of fanatic hollier-than-thou men with a love for money and power.

Whew! That was one long sentence.

yesterday, i opened a topix account so i could post the information about watch tower representatives attending the political ocse meeting in poland for two weeks and the proof that they are an ngo.

Please if you haven't already tell the authorities and they can trace the JWbully's account, their ISP can and will comply if the authorities step in.

Reading his comments to you it's obvious he's well acquainted with other prominent exJW's names. So this tells us he's not following the GB's admonition to stay away from apostate sites.

I wish your peace, Barb, you've done a lot of good to expose the abuses in the WT religion. You deserve respect and thanks.

My best wishes for you and safety as well.
