Thank you OTWO. This only confirms my beliefs about the ORG. I did have some painful experiences with the elders in my hall, but the again, I am a woman. But it is good to know that you and others, did not have these experiences and still came to the same conclusion. It makes me feel more validated in my decision. Not that I need it, even if Armageddon were just right around the corner, and all of the JW prophecies were true, I still could not be a part of this religion. It would be like saying, " Okay Hitler, I will believe what you want me to, just don't kill me...."

the point is that i wasn't "burned" in some incredible way by wts and i don't carry a huge chip on my shoulder from some incredible injustice from wts or the local elders.. i say this because some people have constantly accused me of being really screwed over by my experience because of my comments on others' threads.
i explained myself there for my reasons, but wanted to repeat what those reasons are here in my own thread.. i explained on some post somewhere that i had felt that i experienced "divine intervention" in my life at one time and that same intervention ended my suicide attempt.

Like we'll ever settle this once and for all, but here goes; ARE YOU A TRUE CHRISTIAN?
by nicolaou inthe watchtower says; "there is an enormous distinction between true christianity and the religion practiced by those who are christians in name only" - wt 1st october 2009. now, in the light of all the current controversy over the word 'atheist' and what it means can you see how irritating it is to have your frame of reference, be it a religious belief system or something else, redefined by others?
and usually it is redefined by those who have something to gain by the linguistic manipulation.. for the watchtower the gain is easy to see but what about the attempt by many believers to define atheism as a belief system?
could it be that equating rational atheism with belief is nothing more than an attempt to legitimize faith?.

a little mild exercise - taken in small doses to keep the joints operating properly - and a keen eye peeled for the ever-changing face of nature have rendered the daily promenade a suitable diversion.

by asilentone ini met a fairly intelligent spanish woman today at starbucks.
she also looks good, i taught her to do abc's (fingerspelling-sign language) her first language is spanish, she knows some pretty good english, but needs some more improvement on her english skills.
she does not know abc's that good.

Liberation in the form of a college paper!!

i am in my sophomore year of college, and i am in a class entitiled "crisis intervention".
one of the assignments was to write a 4 page paper on a crisis that we have faced, and how we have dealt with it.. i wrote about leaving the org, and how i cope with my online support group!
