For those of you who inactive, but not officially DFd/DAd, how do you manage?
by undercover ini read with interest the thread about how people who are mentally out yet still attend (some) meetings manage to do continue to do it and it got me wondering, how do those of us who are completely inactive, no longer practicing members of the faith, manage to pull off our new ex-jw life, yet never invite scrutiny or investigation from former friends, elders, etc.. take me, for example.
i've been out several years now, but have never officially renounced my faith.
i've never out and out called it a crock of shit to anyone who could make real trouble for me.

I haven't gone to a meeting in more than two years. It still hurts that my mother doesn't have very much contact with me, even though I am not df'd or da'd. But I made my choice, and she is making hers. I just wish I could see my little brother more. The only reason I have not da'd is because I need to be able to speak to him when he is about fourteen or so, so that I can tell him that he does not have to practice something that he doesn't believe in and he has somewhere to go if they boot him out of the house when he is 18. He can come stay with big sis.
My mom and I were so close when I was growing up. She was my best friend. I thought that nothing would ever come between us. Stings to realize that my friendship with my mother was conditional. Its like she has already made the "its me or the org." choice, and I lost.

Which do you think is the most pernicious teaching of the JW's?
by Chariklo inas i turn things over in my mind, one jw lie stands out.. that god doesn't listen to all prayers.
unless i have it wrong, and i don't think i do, jw's believe, and have been endlessly, ruthlessly taught, that only those living by "jehovah's righteous standards"...that awful glib phrase again...will get their prayers listened to.
in other words, god looks at the number the person is calling from, so to speak, checks who it is, looks him up in his book of misdeeds, and angrily slams the phone down.. the jehovah god of the wt is petty and mean-minded.

Great thread! All of the above. Especially telling parents that they cannot have relatinships with their children who are df'd or da'd. Talk about loss of natural affection. They are coercing people to do evil as if it is righteous. If there is a just god, I imagine that they will be in big trouble for misleading so many.

i see from reading all the posts that many many people share my views on the whole jw thing and i'm so glad i can express myself without getting into problems with getting reported to the elders or something.
i am currently in my late 30's happily married to a jaydub with 2 kids.

Turkey Recipe for those who think they do not like Turkey
by RubaDub inso as not to steal the thanksgiving turkey thread, james_woods wrote the following:.
strangely, as an ex-witness i finally admitted to myself that i just really do not like turkey (not thanksgiving style roasted turkey, anyway).
i must also admit, turkey can be bland.

Sounds good! My step mother-in-law puts celery, carrots, onions, oranges and apples, and a little bit of pepsi inside the turkey before cooking it. It sounds weird but it is so good! Even better if she brined it. Then it would be salty and tangy and a little bit sweet. I will have to try this!

THANK YOU Steven Unthank
by cedars inohiocowboy has just posted this information on the two other threads dealing with the sudden collapse of the unthank cases.. i don't know steven unthank, but i just want to thank him from the bottom of my heart for having the courage against overwhelming odds to try and bring the watch tower society to justice over their deplorable neglect when it comes to protecting children from abuse and molestation.. steven is a man of justice and integrity who i deeply admire.
his actions will never be forgotten, and i only hope he can find it within himself to continue his work in whatever avenue may become available in the future.. they have won this battle, but they can never win the war.. .
cedars.

Anyone who is standing up for and seeking justice for the children who are subjected to this horrible organization is alright by me! Even if they made a mistake along the way. As frustrating as it is to know that the WTS did not get smacked down as much as I would have liked, it is still good that they have sent the letter to order the elders to comply with the law. I hope that their complete downfall comes while I am still alive to see it. I was one of those children, and if my parents had gone to the authorities, it could have possibly prevented several other children from being victimized. I know of at least one other that was, and I have always felt guilty that I didn't just do it myself. Thank you to all who strive to protect the children of this organization.

Welcome! This is a great site for gaining knowledge and support. I agree with all who say that you should take your time. Let things sink in. If you love your wife, let her see that leaving the Org. does not make you a crazy, demonized person. Good luck and please keep us updated!
