  The Pastor of my Old Church Tried to Re-Convert Me Yesterday

  yesterday evening my wife and i were invited to friends house for new year's eve.

  we met them when i was a christian and we have kept in touch.

  they had a few other friends there as well, including the new church pastor and his wife.

  Yea I saw that Cofty, and Tammy has expressed herself admirably on the subject. I am surely allowed to agree with her or is it only those who disagree with believers who are allowed to comment here?

  Well said Tammy, and agreed. What a pity that so few appear to be actually reading what you say but simply rushing to incensed conclusions to justify their ridiculing and insulting of a believer. There is an almost palpable panic that atheism might be questioned so very truthfully.

  "When you pray, don't be like the hypocrites. They love to stand in the synagogues and on the street corners and pray so people will see them. I tell you the truth, they already have their full reward. 6 When you pray, you should go into your room and close the door and pray to your Father who cannot be seen. Your Father can see what is done in secret, and he will reward you. 7 "And when you pray, don't be like those people who don't know God. They continue saying things that mean nothing, thinking that God will hear them because of their many words. 8 Don't be like them, because your Father knows the things you need before you ask him."

  Unstop, the above is the direction Christ gave. He sometimes publicly "gave thanks" but always sought privacy to pray to His father. I'm pretty sure Tammy acknowledges this too.

  hello all, it is nice to have a forum for former jw's and see i wasn't the only one out there having serious doubts.

  my parents got into it when i was about 4 years old.

  my family was part of the granville ny congregation.. my dad in time became an elder.

  steve imhof, a bethelite in the 1970s and former very active elder who became a very vocal wt critic starting in 2002, was 65 years old when he died.

  he was father to three children and two grandchildren.
