  What Beliefs/ Practices of Jehovah's Witnesses do you Disagree With Most?

  most of us either when exiting the witnesses or after exiting have certain beliefs/practices that bothered us so much we could not suport this organization anymore.

  what were your breaking points ?

  Christianity Ala Carte

  They pick and choose what is important....what is worthy of discipline...

  Convenient application of the Mosaic Law....though completely abolished by the Son of God.

  There insane way of applying scriptures would allow a man to beat his wife, right?

  Afterall, when married, the Bible says you are 'one flesh'...and Paul said "to lead pummel your body and lead it as a slave"

  Its Christianity Ala Carte......steal from that, leave that there, steal from that, leave that there.......

  Adultery and Slander............same verse..... one gets a JC, the other gets ignored.

  Have your JW Relatives Explained about Generation/Overlap Change to You ?

  after reading on the way out's thread about his mom explaining the generation overlap to him it kicked this idea into my head to make this thread .

  i thought it would be helpful to see if anybody here has had jw relatives or friends try to explain this " generation overlap " theory to you as a faded or inactive witness and what happened in the conversations.

  so please feel free to post your experiences.

  Are you kidding?

  I love my family more than anything.....and they me....

  .....but even they admit they would have a tough time explaining the difference between Moses and Noah.....much less this science fiction.

  just wanted to introduce myself.... .

  i am a secret fader but since reading this forum i feel i am alot more confident about telling my family/friends that i don t go to the meetings and inactive.. my hubby is also a fader with me...we kind of drifted after my first baby was born.

  she is now 11.. it all started with my mom who started studying with my cousin when i was about 15. while she was studying i also started studying (i was about 16).

  i don't care for all the blood in tarantino movies but he is, without a doubt, a genius.. .

  Surreal.

  I can't believe I used to give those talks.

  That has got to be one of the lamest.....absolutely RIDICULOUS things I've ever listened to.

  By the way...I drive a car, which was invented by Henry Ford.....therefore, we 'overlap'.......and are part of the same generation.

  When they cameraman scans the crowd....its the same old thing......half the people are day dreaming......the other half are passionately taking notes......

  This new 'generations' change is an epic teaching..... and the greater majority can't tell you anything about it. Nothing. Nada. The speaker himself sounds less than confident...... like he is trying hard to NOT mess it up.

  Were you suprised at how little the "world" knows about JW's

  i was a jehovah's witness for 10 long years and during that time i developed the opinion that most of the world knew what we believed, but chose to ignore it and go about doing their own thing.

  then in the almost 18 years i have been out, i have come to understand that the outside world knows very little about jw's.

  other than they don't take blood transfusions and do not celebrate holidays, most people have no idea what we believe and only think of them as another offbeat religion among many.. did anyone else think that the jw religion was more known than it actually is?.

  Remain Close to the Governing Body DC

  i just finished all 3 days of the dc and, for what it's worth, wanted to get down some of the highlights i enjoyed.

  i went with family and i only did it for them, and hope to never attend another assembly ever again.. .

  the whole thing was pretty boring and uncomfortable due to the stadium style seating which doesn't favour my long legs and ac being blasted too high.. .

  Wow gutted......I'm really sorry. I feel terrible for you.

  This was the first DC that I missed. My family went..... it was hard and I too have been in a depression most of the weekend.

  Its all very sad. I wish I had something encouraging to say..... but I've walked away...

  another thread has set me off ...the one about anniversaries ...and i read an extract that blondie posted on there....suddenly i am soooo bl**dy furious...so indignant!!!!.

  why did we allow a bunch of men to dictate to us not only what we believed, but even how we parented our kids,and then even how we spent our free time?????

  how could we allow this stuff?????.

  I've had a weird weekend myself.......just angry.....mad as hell. My family went to one day of the DC...... that always makes me ill.
