As an ex elder used at every level of the organization.....let me assure you, any man that actually wanted to be an elder or MS should seek therapy.
It is a terrible, thankless job.
i have noticed an apparently increasing number of men who are not interested in becoming ministerial servants or elders.
i also know of some that have voluntarily stepped down (which is my case) for no obvious solid reason.. i remember, during my teenage years or even during my twenties, the brothers were always looking forward to being appointed... although many still do, i have noticed there are many others with whom you do not know what the deal is.. since there is no freedom of speech within the organization, we remain in the dark about the motives and desires of everybody else.
i attend a congregation with only two ministerial servants, while it is full of men who do not seem to be willing to do more.. it is hard to tell exactly what is going on, since honesty is not possible while you are inside, but i am starting to think that more and more are becoming disillusioned.... .

Wow.....I'm seriously shocked they still use that......filled with 'old light'.......LOL, probably don't realize it
I've been out for a few years now.................do they still use this book?
I hope so....because it is a mess.
so most would now know of the vile act in sydney last week where a man held hostage over 17 people in the lindt cafe in the middle of sydney.. two people were murdered...a beautiful, educated lawyer, loving mother of three, and a brave, loving young man working as the cafe manager.. this senseless and cruel act has touched everyone deeply, especially in the communities of sydney.
the outpouring of grief and support for the victims and their families has been immense.. i was therefore outraged to have the following comment made by a witness in conversation at the kingdom hall:.
"well, we dont need to be sad, because at least now they (the two victims) will get a ressurection.
If there views on death/resurrection/paradise were in fact true................I have one question:
Why not go around gunning people down...... at least they get a resurrection, right? Field service doesn't guarantee it.....but just going around bombing places would.
These people have no brain.
I am an ex-elder
how many times have you asked a jw who has attended a public talk how the talk was, only to be told it was so great!
yet they cannot remember the title nor any one single point except that the brother was "funny" or was good with illustratiions or some other vauge point?
and conventions weren't far off either.
LOL....this might be my favorite thread of the year.
I've spent my entire life wondering HOW they can go to a meeting, day's of assembly's, etc......and come away with NOTHING!
They don't listen...... they don't care......the vast majority couldn't spell the word BIBLE
It's honestly embarrassing.
they say that seinfeld was a tv program about nothing.
in the end, it was all silliness.. this religion is inconsequential in the big scheme of things.
it's stupid.. .
I would agree about the fairy tale beliefs.
However, this 'religion' has led to people's deaths. It is evil on every level.
it has been a few months since i hear this from an elder.
he said that the c/o told them this new requirement.. "men that wanna be an elder or ministerial servant has to go out to field service on sundays.
if there is an elder or ministerial servant that is not going out to field service on sunday can lose the priviledge".
LOL...... cult.
i remember being at the assembly in 1988?
when this was released.
everyone was so excited that we finally had a simple explanation of revelation with pictures.
I conducted the Book Study in that book SIX times.....it was so ridiculous, that even then, totally indoctrinated, I would start laughing reading the question.....the group would laugh with me.
Every book on Revelation by this 'organization' is a study in comedy......
i just found out that a husband of an old friend committed a suicide and i was wondering if there are any letters to elders or any wts rules concerning funerals for those who committed suicide.
i've looked in the elders book and letters to boe index and didn't find anything.
some posts here say they can have the funeral at the kh and some here said they couldn't hold it there because suicide was involved.
A very nice, young elder just killed himself in Oregon. Hung himself. Tragic.
