I've been watching his testimony thanks to the great people on this site.
Rodney Spinks is lying....... a lot.
On several occasions he attempts to talk in circles, only to have the judge and/or lawyer tell him he didn't answer the question. Elders/Branch Overseers have no clue how to deal with people that don't get confused or intimidated by them. Its SO fun to watch!!!
It is truly something to watch when Spinks starts talking........... and wow is he lying a lot.

i actually have had dealings with rod and found him to be a very reasonable and "non-robotic" man in the past.. i know it should not surprise me, but i was disappointed to hear his lies and half-truths.. they know their stuff and are not easily led, but he tried to lead the royal commission to believe that 2 people could be involved in investigating a claim - which is wrong.. his lack of memory on what parts of the judicial process are biblical - hello - none are.
there are no scriptures that backup the use of 3 men, a body of elders, cutting people off from family and friends, restrictions, etc.. he also lied about the gb being involved in policy creation and changes.. his statement that in all cases, elders are told to inform parents that they can go to the authorities and get the full support of the congregation is not verifiable.
For all those that have seen the arrogant attitudes of elders their entire life.....How FUN is it to watch this guy squirm?????

they are asking for kids ice-cream money so they can send their monkeys to uni to get them off child abuse cases, while telling the ones giving the money not to get a higher education.

Aside from the tragic pain of the victims, the most disgusting thing about this case is that ZERO JW's in the U.S. know anything about this entire situation.

tradition within christianity has long been that any time the phrases holy spirit, holy ghost, or spirit of godare used in the bible (especially in the new testament), it always refers to the mysterious third divine person of the trinity, who is fully god, co-equal to the father and son, yet somehow distinct.. i want to present a simplified alternative view: let the context determine the meaning!.
(one thing to keep in mind is that the meaning of the bible words used for spirit basically is unseen force or invisible presence.).

This triggered a memory in me: When I was an elder, the PO (no longer a position, right?) confided in me that he didn't understand Holy Spirit or know what it was.....he felt guilty about it.
Of course, he was 'appointed by holy spirit'.................god its all so funny now.
not sure if this subject has been covered recently but i thought i'd make this observation anyway.... i remember when the word "gluttony" was a frequently mentioned sin in public talks, in the wt publications, in convention talks, etc.. in fact, in the 80's and 90's it wasn't unusual to hear the words "gluttony" and "disfellowship" mentioned in the same sentence.
i haven't been to a meeting in over 5 years, so i'm not sure if they still harp on the subject of gluttony or other excesses.
but i can't help but notice how much heavier the gb 2.0 has become compared to previous regimes.

The most amazing thing to watch here in the Pacific NW was how the elders and their wives were notorious drinkers.
I was the youngest member of the BOE. I had to continually explain to other publishers, including my mother (baptized in 1972) to ignore all the drunk elder's wives. Notorious drunks at get togethers, baby showers, weddings, etc.
It became a running joke about what drunks they all were.
