i have read the july 15 2013 wt many times but i simply don't understand the significance of 1919 from the bible.
It is all tied to the fantasy of 1914; which cannot be proved from history OR the Bible
In addition, I've simplified the entire thing when people ask or I ask a JW who is teetering:
"Faithful and Discreet Slave......is that a parable/illustration or a prophecy"
After they answer...... have them read Luke 12:41 and ask "what did the Apostle Peter call it?"
You will get either a look of nausea or denial.

This is a typical judicial meeting. Three guys bouncing around...never really proving or adding anything to the person sitting there.
FOR ME:
Every time I see one of these 'sessions' with elders, I'm reminded how uneducated elders are.....how they basically know nothing. They cut right to basic questions: "Do you believe in Jehovah?"...............they just want a cut and dry answer so they can go gossip and drink beer.
I was constantly shocked at how uneducated my fellow elders were....they couldn't explain basic scriptures, ideas or morals. They got to where they were by driving around in mini-van's for 10 hours a month.....nothing more.
All they care about is protecting business assets....they immediately skip to 'the organization' in their questioning.
If you want to be horrified, just imagine what the elders were like when Candace Conti brought a life altering situation to their attention. DEVASTATINGLY stupid!!!!!!!!!!

I came away from this thinking that the man in the video just did exactly what JW's do to everyone else... on any given weekend......
...rudely invade your space; interrupt their day to tell them they have to agree with them or they look stupid. or worse, will die.
It would have been twice as effective to meekly stand, turn around and sheepishly ask if you could ask some questions.....for example: "Last time I came to this, they said we were in the last days, that people would never die....how did that change.....I need help?? I know 1914 is the key date, but that was over 100 years ago.....did I confuse that message?"

well i believe people don't want to believe in god because they are scared.
they know that if they finally do gorge the confidence to believe in him, he might discipline them for their skepticism.
i managed to find a copy of "going clear" on the internet.
i won't post a link because most are loaded with pop-ups and you have to be careful about accidental downloads.
mine was no exception, but i managed to keep the computer clean.
I watched it the night it debuted on HBO.....I can't recommend this documentary enough.....it's an outstanding look at human nature and religion/cults.....
The parallels with JW's was endless......especially the requirement to 'disconnect'......i.e. disfellowship
