  ok.....i really need to have a personal bible reading again with no ones ideas but my own.

  just me god and the bible!

  i will most likely be looking in others but for 15 years the new world translation has been my base bible along with so-called bible-based literature.

  Your amazing! Thanks for the Strongs link!! Believe it or not a born again Christian who was renting a room from my parents stole my Strongs Concordance! So this is a helpful link when I am studying with the children.

  Since I never heard of TTC ,John C.H. Wus translation will be what I go for! Thank-you Introspection for suggesting it and Thanks everyone else for pointing to the TAO TE CHING.

  Dont worry (as if anyone was) about this being a highjacking of one book for another. I will still read the bible. Still I know there are teachings everywhere and not just in books but also in life itself. All around us.

  I just want to check some things out people are saying here and have my own perspectives.

  Saint Satan, as always I love your seeming disdain for the bible. Yet you appear to have full knowledge of it. So the book could not have done you too much harm.

  Ozzie you wrote the NIV is recognized as being flawed. I hadnt known this still I assume all bibles are flawed.

  If the Mrs. Likes the English Standard Version I will probably pick one up as one of my references when I feel I need another point of view on a chapter or verse.

  Womens minds tend to think along the same lines so that is helpful advice.

  Wow! Thanks for your advice....I like when you said. God with your whole heart, soul and mind? Most people seem to hold an unconscious assumption that it's all about the mind, but the bible itself says that isn't the case. The tricky thing about this is if you only use your mind, then you're more likely to be deceived by it.

  I think this really expresses what is going on in a lot of cases with JWs when they over react to WTBS teachings such as shunning or even the over obsession as to what is pagan and what is not.

  Think about it.....The Israelites lived in a Nation devoid of pagan practices some of them for many generations and yet they still kept mixing pagan worship with the worship of their God. If they couldnt stay away from pagan festivals how much harder would it be for us living in the middle of it day after day. I dont think God requires this impossible task but as you said he looks to the heart.

  Wow NewLight2!!

  That is some outline! Its much more in-depth then my own out line! Im glad you reminded me of The New Living Translation. I dont own one but AlanF was quoting from one and when I compared it to the NIV I found it much more direct and to the point.

  Francois.thanks for pointing out that book! I have never heard of it before. I do know the bible can appear to be filled with unnecessary crap but believe it or not it is some of that crap I want to examine.

  Still feel I will enjoy Lao Tsus book. After all it is HOW we live our lives that matters not how much unnecessary KNOWLEDGE we accumulate......... Grasias

  I need a new base bible that I do most of my reading from while checking from time to time in other translations.

  So many things have been pointed out to me on this forum that I feel a need to read The Bible from cover to cover.

  So in each of your opinions.....WHAT IS THE BEST TRANSLATION OF THE BIBLE?

  i was asked last friday from a man that i work with if i wanted to go to the titans game, i declined because i had plans for the next day.

  i was talking with him today and we were excited that they won.

  he was saying that it would be awesome if they won and went to the superbowl.

  You are very wise to be waiting on having another relationship till you have healed.

  Its also good he knows this.

  I am not there so I can not see how he behaves around you and notice if maybe youve been missing any cues from him that show his feelings for you.

  On one hand you tell us, I.know him well enough. At the same time you admitted, I know what this guy makes and there is no way he can afford this. Turns out he is heavy into real estate and has close to 30 homes he rents out. My point is we dont REALLY know anyone. For all you know this guy has liked you a long time and this is his window. His way of showing you he isnt like all the others.

  I am not saying he is a bad person by the way. I am saying because you have been holding your heart aside so you can heal you may have missed some cues.

  Poor guy may have been fawning over you for sometime and you may have been oblivious!

  This may have been his 1 st chance to really get your attention.

  Your subconscious probably knows this and thats why you need advice. Youre still guarding yourself.

  If it were a simple matter of expenses you would have told him clearly straight away. You seem a passionate woman and so would have no problem if not for the fact youre guarding your heart.

  I think your solution is really the best and I am glad we were a sounding board for you.

  As you say I was talking to my sister and said that there is a Super bowl every year and that it could wait.

  Of course if the Titans play I still want a tee shirt.

  P.S. I know you feel it is about expenses but I would be truly surprised if this guy has no interest in you what so ever other then a friend. So please be patent with me and others who dont seem to get your point. Just want you to think of all the possibilities and keep you from any unnecessary hurt.
