but, i don't see that as a bad thing.
he asked me over lunch if i think it's wrong and i told him no.
we discussed why the society says it's wrong and i told him why i don't agree with it and he agreed.
I'm not a big lottery fan. But for the last few years when my husband and I we go out to eat, we stop any buy a few (1-3) one dollar lottery tickets and leave the tickets with the 20% tip. I try to pick tickets that is 'seasonal' like a wintery one, in February I'll get a valentine themed one...., ect. Just tryin' to spice it up. And wouldn't it be cool if they won big.

just a question that's been bubbling around in my head the last couple of weeks as more new people join the board or others become more established.
for those of you on here that have children, nieces, nephews, grandkids, cousins, friends' kids, etc., how do you talk to them about what the jws teach?
i know there are many here that are in mixed relationships that either started that way or became that way when one left, i know there are those here that have both left, and in any circumstances, i'm just wondering how you talk to your kids about the religion and their beliefs.
My children are grown, I left when they were pretty young. They remember very little about it but we've discussed everything that they do remember and I've filled them in on what they don't.
My grandchildren have never had any association with any JW's ever. But they all know about JW's For instance...when we celebrate holiday's I tell them about my memories when I was a child NOT celebrating the holidays. Instead of telling stories about walking to school up hill, both ways...I tell them about sitting in the library during the parties and not being allowed to have worldly school friends. When they go out Trick-or-Treating..I always call it door-to-door work or field service.

the thing that sucks is that they are very much alive & we are literally less than five miles apart from each other everyday.
i had a long talk with one of my siblings today.
i've been getting a really weird vibe lately...today it was confirmed that i will be shunned from here on out from them.
As time goes on, I realize I don't miss my biological family as much as I used to.
I have a whole new family and friends. People that love me and want to be in my life.

she says she is going to just go and blag.
- even attend a few meetings if necessary.
I think, as her sister you should go as moral support. I know they will say no...but don't you have a right to be there is your sister wants you to be.

some of you may remember me posting a few days ago that my shop had become some jw's magazine route.
well today the staff who was supposed to man the shop has called in sick, which meant that i had to go in and open up.
who should i find waiting for me on the door step with a big beaming self righteous grin on his face but a jw!
Holy smokes. Great!
By the time this story makes the JW rounds......., you'll have probably grown horns and a tail.

i wasn't there to take that photo along with my classmates and teachers.. .
25 years have gone ever since...still after all those years, many times in my dreams i used to watch my self taking that final picture.

i re-read it after someone posted to it and brought it back on active topics and it was kind of prophetic in a way ... well, i had the 5 years part right if nothing else:.
it would be nice to visit the site (or whatever one is around then) in 5 years time to let people know how we're doing and find only a few of the same people still around.

at my place of business which i own, i have discovered that the local jw's have taken to dropping in magazines, brocheres etc.
the staff accept them just to be polite but arn't interested.
but you know the deluded jw's... my business has quickly turned into someones magazine route!.
It's your business. Just tell them you don't want to advertise for their cult publishing company...and hand them back the crap.
