I could do it, I've done it twice before.
I could walk the walk, and talk the talk, but I'd have trouble thinking the thoughts.
Or is it, the not thinking part that I couldn't do.
Lisa
if you wanted to, would you be able to convince your local elders to reinstate you?
you'd have to go to every meeting, sitting at the back, showing 'the right attitude' and not talking to anyone.
you'd have to do this for 6 months to 1 year.
I could do it, I've done it twice before.
I could walk the walk, and talk the talk, but I'd have trouble thinking the thoughts.
Or is it, the not thinking part that I couldn't do.

you ever been driving, and traffic builds up coming up to an accident?
human nature being what it is, everyone stops to see the accident.
of course, by the time we get there, we are so pissed at the traffic, we slow down ourselves to make sure we see what all the fuss was about.. compare that perhaps to seeing the biggest accident of them all, bethel.
I found this at watchtowerobserver.org
Bethel Branches All Over The World
There are Bethels with bethel brothers and sisters all over the world. So when we speak of visiting Bethel we do not necessarily mean just Bethel in NY. A Bethel Vacation could include visiting a Bethel facility anywhere a bethel branch exists.
The Best Vacation on Earth
The best vacation on earth for Jehovah's Witnesses is one that includes a Bethel visit. Seeing how happy everyone is at Bethel as they work hard for Jehovah and for others allows visitors to personally see with their own eyes and feel with their own heart what life in the truth can be like for all of us. It will encourage you to focus not only on your own congregation, but on what Jehovah is doing world wide through his faithful earthly and heavenly organization. We have seen first hand what a visit to bethel can do. The tours the Bethel brothers arrange for visitors have the potential to change for the better your view of Jehovah, the organization, and your own congregation forever.
Memories You Can Share with Your Home Congregation
One last point. While the buildings, machines, and procedures you get to see and learn about are interesting and encouraging, they pale in comparison to the affect the tour guides and the bethel workers will have on you and the friends traveling with you. You will remember most the attention you receive from the tour guides and the bethel family. You will be made to feel welcome, loved, and appreciated by the dear brothers who serve at Bethel. You will never forget all the smiles, waves, and hello's that you personally experience. You will adopt the attitude of your bethel guide and the bethel workers you see on your tours and you will take that attitude back home to your local congregation. Like the ripples in a pond, the blessings that come from a visit to Bethel will radiate out through you. Now you can see why we believe the best vacation on earth for one of Jehovah's Witnesses includes a visit to Bethel.
Sickening
This is really sickening! As usual, their double standards are evident. If other religious people visit their sacred places, they are involved in idolatry . If Jehovah's Witnesses are doing the same - and filling their pockets with dollars, they have The Best Vacation on Earth
I never went, however, my parents went on the day of my wedding. My mom said, she had to set an example as to what was most important in their lives.

i was 28 when i got borganized....i wish i could remember the names of the sisters that studied with me....one of 'em's name is barbara, the other one was a pig...guess they're not that memorable....but the plano congregation had not been started when i first got baptised or it had *just* been started in 1973....my best sis friend was carolyn nelson, a six feet tall sis with two kids, harris and april....i was really dumb and married the first elder that asked me....it was a total flop of a marriage, his teenaged son caused all sorts of problems for us.....i "ran away" from it and went back to the "world" for a while....i suppose because they hadn't gotten the "worldliness" out of me very well at the time....when i returned, they publicly reproved me and we divorced....his name was bob repp....he was an elder in the white rock congregation....i can remember a few names...the farmers, steve scott and his lovely red-headed wife, but that's all i remember..... .
then i moved back down here with my older two children, where i was raised and later went back into the borganization....i moved to california in late 1988, got in an auto accident in late 1989, and everything went downhill from there, borganization-wise...i had seen so much cruelty from the platform....even a p.o.
who graphically and sneeringly described explicitly...the sights, sounds and smells of alleged sexual acts between two pioneers, as he disf'd the pioneer sister, while she sobbed her heart out in front of the congregation and only reproved the pioneer bro.....made me wanna hurl....the elders treated me like a meadow muffin the whole time i was in cal.
damn, chic, you go girl ,,,I was so in awe of your post. I would have loved to have done something as nobel as that!!!
I think the difference is you came in to the borg at 28 and were not brainwashed since birth. That's my excuse, anyway.
Lisa
they certainly do, and this is forever being thrown in my face.
however, when jesus said his desciples would have love amongst themselves, surely he didnt mean it would just be amongst themselves?
surely it would expand further than that?
I don't really have an answer to your question. But speaking for myself, one of my biggest problems in the JW religion, was I could not hate what they said was bad. I loved everyone, and would even smile and say Hi to disfellowshipped ones. How were they supposed to know that we loved them and wanted them back if we were rude and ignored them? Lisa
my brother died suddenly.
his funeral was in the catholic church.
his 2 jw children and their offspring actually stood in the back of the church, behind a glass wall, and observed the service.
You didn't mention how old the JW brothers were. But, I will tell you my experience with being in a church while I was still a JW.
The first time, I was in elementary school I think the 5th grade. Our music teacher was also the organist for the near by Catholic church. She walked the entire class about a block off of the school property to the church to see this hugh organ and and oldest organ in the town to here her play a little. I was so scared that the demons were going to attack me and even more scared that my parents would find out that I even went in the church. I never, ever told them or anyone. I was scared !!!
The only funeral I remember being at as a child, in a church, was my grandmothers sister. It was in an old Baptist church. My sister and I got in trouble for laughing. We couldn't help it, we had never been exposed to people shouting out "AMEN" and "HALLELUJAH" during a service. We were about 8 and 10 at the time.

i believe that jehovah's witnesses have learned through mind-control that a "true" christian must "disown" all family and friends for the sake of the "truth".
if such disowning means leaving relationships with persons that no longer want to remain in the "truth", then that is the choice that they are making.
besides, if those that are shunned realize how much love their "brothers and sisters" really have for them, they might come around and get their lives saved after all!........any comments?

my parent must really, really love me....they've been shunning me for years.....

i've got a great one line comeback that i would like to share... and was wondering if there are any other short but sweet ones to battle the rhetoric.. background:.
my dub brother mentions that my sponsoring of children in 3rd world countries doesn't really save their soul, as only spiritual food can truely save them.
to which i then reply,.
...this always works for me..
Lisa
heya folks,.
long time no see!
just though i'd pop in and say hello and share a couple thoughts.
. Reno 911! Its a show on comedy central ( a fake cop show) at 10:30. They had a A.P.B. on a robbery in process. The cops drive down the street and see 2 men in their 20s walking slowly, carring book bags and wearing ties. They jump out the car and pull their guns out. They start screaming at them to get on the ground and throw their bags to the side. They say the robbery suspects are dressed just like them and then they look in the bag and find mags. One officer says "aww $hit, they're jehovahs witnesses" Then they apologize and walk away. When they get to the car, they laugh and slap hands cuz it was a big joke. I almost laughed my ass off.
I saw that too....it was freaking hilarious....
Lisa
edited to add: did you see the stupid bookbags they had
