reading about the passing of wings' mom got me to thinking.
my mother has shunned me completely for the past 20 years with the exception of three conversations about health history.
if i outlive my mom, the probability is great that she will die without me ever seeing or talking to her in any kind of meaningful way.
Mouthy, will there come a time when you'll quit stickin' your hand into the fire?
I quit calling my parents, I was tired of being rejected and hurt. My husband and children said they were tired of seeing me hurt, ...sometimes the pain would go on for days. over and over same ole thing. I'm done.
I'll just stick with the ones I know love me...and know how to show it.

I strongly suspect I've seen my parents for the last time...that was nearly 15yrs+ ago.
I doubt anyone would bother to call, if either die.

has anyone else heard tell of interviewees in convention parts being told what to say?
the way i've heard it is you're contacted to be interviewed in a convention talk because you've had a great experience in some form or other and they need you to boast about it.
so, you meet with the brother handling the assignment and you go through your experience with him (boast about it).
I once had to give an experience at an assembly of how I was persecuted at school for not saluting the flag. And how I stood up for my beliefs.
The truth was, I was 4yrs old, in kindergarden, and I knew I wasn't supposed to put my hand over my heart, but didn't know why, so I kept dropping it to my side, and was put in timeout.

It's probably different everywhere. My granddaughter started middle school this past year. she's 10..and was in the 5th grade.
When I went to school middle school started at 7th grade.

i was speaking with a dfed jw tonight and he wants to return to jw land.
he believes they have the truth.
well, i asked him if he felt that everyone else except jw's would die at armageddon.
He has read one chapter of the now is finished the great mystery by CT Russell and said that it makes him happy that the witnesses are constantly changing because Russell said that was the sign of a true religion.
CT Russell? How does he know Joseph Smith didn't say something enlightening? What makes Russell so special?

i ran into an old friend spontaneously over the weekend.
(one of the few jws i actually considered a friend back in the day).
we were briefly catching up and she mentioned an elder in my old hall is now dfed.
What I wouldn't have given for my dad to do that. Instead, he said I made my own bed and now I had to lie in it.
Screw that, I snuck out while my husband was at work.
I'm very happy that this man put his daughter first. That's a real daddy.

lately i have noticed very strange activity at my local gas stations that i go to in the vancouver area people are being asked to use the debit/credit cards at the pump.
the last time i tried to use a debit card to pay gas inside a gas station i got scolded by the cashier, he said "please pay at the pump!!.
i say gee i guess he is having a bad day or something..... well so i go to anouther gas station - a shell station and the same rhetoric .."please pay at the pump!

I used to work at a place and two co-workers were having an affair. I also knew both of the spouses. I never said anything, except to my husband about it. Eventually ...they moved on and the girl quit.
It was none of my business....I just quietly observed from afar. Only saying what I thought when asked. Girl.."do you think he really likes me?" me.."Um...he did ya in the women's bathroom at work." ...Him.."Do you really think she likes me?" me.."Um..she's young and dumb and you are way to old for this."
