I Guess I Don't Matter
by headisspinning ini'm pretty upset.
my sister just asked me if my ex bothered to mention that both of my kids were announced as publishers last thursday night.. nobody said a word to me.. i just called my ex and told him that i was pretty furious - at least he apologized which i have to say, i have heard the words 'i'm sorry' from him about 5 times in the 14 years we we married.. anyway, i'm sad.
the kids didn't even bother to tell me... i would like to think that means it's not important to them... but with a sinking feeling i think that i'm what doesn't matter..

Walkill Bethel Recreational Facility
by dontplaceliterature inmy wife and i just visited some friends over the weekend from another congregation.
these two are both full time pioneers, and also participate in various construction projects around the country.
the husband just got back from a 3 week trip to walkill, new york to help with construction on a new residence building at 'the farm' (does anyone call it that anymore?)..

People…mark my words. Those huge projects at Wallkill and Ramapo NJ are intended to be sold in the near future; either as a retirement facility, an adult community, or as a college campus. If some of you recall, some of the land was purchased from a developer that was supposed to building a college campus in that location, but the company could not complete the project. The Watchtower Construction Inc (made up name) conveniently took ownership of the land and began to build a complex that resembles a modern college campus.
I’m very familiar with this project. Some of the volunteers have served my congregation. Remember, not all of the printing is being done in the US, magazine production has been cut to half, a lot of bethelites were laid off or reassigned. If you count the number of rooms and buildings being constructed, logic will tell you that this complex is meant to house 3,500 to 5,000 people. Doesn’t that tell you something?

Why does God permit suffering? Don't let others answer this question for you
by sabastious inwasn't the answer to this question wrapped up in a neat little package when you were young?
it was easily explainable and it made you feel so warm inside that you knew that god felt passionately bad about the suffering and that it was going to stop.. there is so much pain in this world.
people are starving, people are being torchered by others who have lost their minds, there is endless suffering on this planet.

Where does the notion that people deserve to live in security, safety, dignity and honor comes from? As Terry pointed out, if we are the result of Darwinian evolution, we should expect the world to operate in the way that’s operating right now. Natural selection depends on the death of the weakest so that the stronger survives. But yet, for some reason, we feel and understand that the world should not be this way…that people should not die of starvation, of preventable diseases, nor be killed or enslaved by a more powerful nation… deep inside of us we feel that something is fundamentally wrong with Humanity…that it’s not suppose to be this way. But why? Why do we think that people in Haiti should enjoy the same label of freedom, security and quality of living that we enjoy in first world countries? When we ask, why is there so much evil and suffering in world… Are we not summing that there is a transcendent or supernatural standards by which human dignity should me measured against?
I feel that the problem of suffering presents a bigger challenge to the nonbelievers than to the believer. The believer understands that the fundamental problem with humanity is its sinful nature… and that a great deal of the suffering that we see comes as result of greed, violence and self centeredness, etc. all of these actions directly attributable (I’ll say it again) to men’s (sinful) nature. And that God allows evil to continue for reasons that are can’t fully understand (just yet).
Abandoning the believe in God because of all the suffering does not make the problem of evil easier to handle, nor will make it disappear, nor provides a HOPE that one day it will end forever.

Stuck,
Read Chap 11 of Ray Franz's "In Search of Christian Freedom". You can buy a pdf copy of this book for $9.95 from http://www.commentarypress.com/Publication/English.html.
I think that you'll find all that you need to know in that chapter.

One thing the WT got right was the Trinity being false.
by miseryloveselders ini swear only a fool would believe in such a ludicrous doctrine that all three are one.
ridiculous..

The Watchtower has misrepresented the tenets of this teaching, and their interpretation of the doctrine of the Trinity is actually known as Modalism.
I have not been able to fully grasp the concept of the Trinity. But I find that it’s very difficult to reconcile some bible passages with any doctrine that denies the co-eternal existence and oneness of the Father and the Son.
But the one thing that I have come to realize is that most all of the pseudo Christian denominations that deny the Trinity and Jesus divinity are “cults“. And almost always the attention is directed to the human leader(s) as oppose to Christ. When they detach the Son from the Father, they take away that special relationship that should exist between each believer and Christ.
It needs to make sense to me before I accept the teaching, but what I’m sure of is this; that the “Watchtower’s Jesus” is not the resurrected Jesus that they early Christians worshipped. The Jesus that the Bible presents to me was more than a man, equal to God and in essence Divine (specially after the resurrection and ascension). Not just a model JW with special privileges in heaven.

So according to the Jun 15 WT, Jesus ransom sacrifice only applies to the anointed class a.k.a the GB.
by onemore inive noticed for a while now (especially at the assemblies) the frequent use of the term: jehovahs friends whenever they referr to the second class christian, ahem....great crowd, aka the non-anointed christian with earthly hope.
even in some wt studies they often throw in phrases like seeking friendship with jehovah, our friend jehovah, etc.
so, the subtle message is clear, the great crowd are not children of god, they are friends of god.

I’ve noticed for a while now (especially at the assemblies) the frequent use of the term: “Jehovah’s friends” whenever they referr to the second class Christian, ahem….”Great Crowd”, aka the non-anointed Christian with Earthly hope. Even in some WT studies they often throw in phrases like “seeking friendship with Jehovah”, “our friend Jehovah”, etc. So, the subtle message is clear, the Great Crowd are not children of God, they are “friends” of God.
So, the June 15,2010 WT pg 15 makes an even bolder statement about this idea that the ransom sacrifice is only applicable to the “anointed class”, as they are “children of God”, and that the non-anointed class, as “friends of God”, are not direct beneficiaries of the said sacrifice.
19. The fact that the God of love counted Abraham as righteous should be heartening for true Christians today. Jehovah did not declare him righteous in the sense that he does those whom he anoints with spirit to be “joint heirs with Christ.” The limited number of that group are “called to be holy ones” and are accepted as “God’s sons.” (Rom.1:7; 8:14, 17, 33) In contrast, Abraham came to be “Jehovah’s friend”—and that before the ransom sacrifice was offered. (Jas. 2:23; Isa. 41:8) What, then, about true Christians who hope to live in the restored earthly Paradise?
20. These have not received “the free gift of righteousness” with heavenly life in view “through the release by the ransom paid by Christ Jesus.” (Rom. 3:24; 5:15,17) Nevertheless, they exercise deep faith in God and his provisions, and they manifest their faith by good works. One such work is that of “preaching the kingdom of God . . . and teaching the things concerning the Lord Jesus Christ.” (Acts 28:31) Thus, Jehovah can view these as righteous in the sense that he did Abraham. The gift such ones receive —friendship with God—differs from “the free gift” the anointed receive. Yet, it certainly is a gift that they accept with deep gratitude .
It is clear that the leaders of this Christianized cult are so self-absorbed that they are not contempt with just taking Jesus place in the lives of millions. No, they also want to keep their diluted Jesus for themselves. And even strip away from the so called “non-anointed” the honor to be called children of God.
I can only wonder for how much longer these people are going to continue listening and taking this “crap” from a “few men” in Bethel.
