we now have nuclear, chemical and biological weapons.

LOL, we do indeed- but look at the current war in Iraq- which is being fought in the same way as World War I- with tanks, trucks & men with guns. War gives humans an outlet for their aggression- but if the weapons used are too powerful, then it just becomes extermination- which is not 'cricket', and usually happens more in natural disasters, where everyone feels sympathy for the victims. So there is a good reason why we haven't destroyed ourselves yet- technology has surpassed our basic emotional needs in the killing field. Boring, but true.

What have you created?

i think it's wonderful that be all posses creative power of thought, and i think this form of creative manifestation comes most commonley in the form of arts.so many posters have mentiond they are writing a book, but i bet some of you create music or make a wonderful soup.. i ask this because i was reading my old school reports and my art teacher wrote " michael is the post constructive, imaginative pupil i have ever had.

his enthusiasm wonders a bit but on the whole an excellent pupil" ....sadly i think if that statement was true i have rather let my self down with my artistic expression.

still it's never to late and i intend to involve myself in my art again this summer..

I've always been more practical than artistic, and have made simple furniture- coffee tables, bookcases etc. - but I have always loved photography, and taking a picture of ordinary things in such a way that they appear kind of iconic. I'm not about to cut off my ear though, lol.

it's just that i feel i have to scroll back through pages of threads every day to see who, if anyone, has replied to me.. only asking, thank you for your hard work, simon and the mods..

It's very strange... Armageddon is a 'theme' for the WTS- one that they can't stop using. Every few years in a publication they would say that kids would never grow up before Armagedon. I guess the Watchtower writers were so senile they couldn't remember writing the same thing many times before... or they died of old age, and new writers came in who believed their own BS. After many years, it does start to seem comical...

Yes we are living in the best time in human history, because 100 years in the past or the future, and we wouldn't be here- other people did and will populate this planet.

How will it turn out?

We will all keep getting older and greyer.

What can/should we do?

Not much we can do... dye our hair darker, maybe?

The Ravings of Trolls Distracts FOCUS From Real Watchtower Scandals

my thread was inspired by gentledawn's insightful comment about the effect the events in wales had on her jw husband.... hope any lurkers out there can filter out the signal (storys and experiences like this) to noise (the current trolls running amok on the forums) ratios.

this the problem with those who focus on outrageous fantasies about the watchtower.

it distracts from the real issues that need to be highlighted.. what happened in wales was for real.

LOL, what does it matter? A few more threads on JWN- so what? I only click on threads that interest me- maybe 5% of all new threads and ignore all the rest- and I'm sure that's pretty typical for everyone - so there is no point getting your panties in a twist... I never do.

its been about a year and a half since i started being on this site.

before i came to this site i had already blown up in my mind several of the key teachings of the org.

the final ones were their teaching on christ being the mediator only for the 144k and all it entails, they also only being in the new covenant etc.

Can't argue with that. There was a doco on TV about the Bible a couple of years ago that basically stated everything you have, but lol, I can't remember the name of it. Anyway, you will know it if you ever watch it, lol.

what about this amazing temple that solomon supposedly built??

there is no arcylogical evidence that it ever excisted either.

The Ezra verse is interesting. When Herod's temple was destroyed in 70 A.D. even the Roman army couldn't destroy it completely, and one wall, a tower, and all the foundations remained- so there should have been at least the foundations after the Babylonians destroyed 'Solomon's temple'- but as that verse shows there was nothing. Very strange, lol.

Jw's dont really care about doctrine do they?

it seems to me that jw's really don't care about doctrine.

ephesians chapter 4 verse 11 "and he gave some as apostles others as prophets, others as evangelists, others as pastors and teachers to equip the holy ones for the work of ministry for the building up of the body of christ until we attain the unity of faith and knowledge of the son of god to mature manhood to the extent of the full stature of christ so that we may no longer be in infants tost by waves and swept along by every wind of teaching arising from human trickery from their cunning in the interest of deceitful scheming".

is it just me or does this verse totally annihilate the doctrine or belief in new light.

That is a great scripture. The WT doctrine has always been so complicated that people who join have to have faith in the GB's claim to be spirit-directed, or whatever it is they claim, as there is no way anyone would come up with those beliefs just from reading the Bible alone: and from there is it just a small step to accepting all the 'new light' as correct as well. So the actual doctrines aren't important once that dependency has been established.
